  • "Unfortunately, I would be sharing your reviewer Clare's experience (August 2025)."

The location and the fabulous views were the main asset. The property was not clean, generally shabby overall and needed much updating. However, the sheets and towels for our use were very good quality. The downstairs shower tray did not clear easily and had to be turned off several times during a shower - we checked - no blockage buy us so clearly further down the pipework somewhere. There were weeds growing and small slugs coming in through gap in the kitchen door. The rubbish bin to the property was completely full on our arrival - I had to contact the refuse services myself for the property who were very helpful and came out the same day. Apparently no-one had requested a rubbish collection after the previous guests. This is not the standard I would have expected from Sykes after booking numerous times before - I wonder if any Sykes representatives have visited the property recently?

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're very sorry to hear that your experience did not meet your expectations. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed the view and location - these are assets we're very proud of! We're also glad that you appreciated the standard of linen. We regret that the cleanliness and condition of the property fell short. Thank you for highlighting areas in which we can improve as these are not the standards we aim to uphold. We appreciate the opportunity to resolve any cleanliness issues while you are at the property, which is why our housekeeper’s number is displayed at the property for your convenience. Any concerns you have can be resolved immediately, but of course we need you to alert us at the time. It is important for us to be able to maintain cleaning standards, so we would have appreciated a quick call at the time so all could have been addressed. We have spoken to our waste collection service and housekeeping to ensure this doesn't happen again. We can reassure you that the property is regularly inspected as the safety of our guests is our first priority. We have followed up on the plumbing issues and appreciate you bringing them to our attention. Thank you again for taking the time to leave feedback on your stay, and for the opportunity to continually improve guest experiences of our Cornish home. Property Owner

  • "We had a week stay for six adults and a dog."

Spacious house in lovely spot - high up and uphill walking worth it for beautiful views over harbour day and night. We were all comfortable and had a great week. There were issues with the Wi-Fi being out for a few days and a toilet plumbing issue - both sorted out within a few days.

Thank you for your kind review. So glad you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you back again in the future! Property Owner

  • "One of the reasons we chose this property was because it internet."

A member of our party needed to attend online meetings for work. The internet didn’t work, I reported it to Sykes who quickly responded but it wasn’t fixed resulting in the person missing 1 meeting & going to a pub to use internet, other party members have incurred fees from their network provider. The upstairs toilet was blocked, this was again reported, I was told someone would come out but again nobody came. A major health & safety concern was the balcony which was rotten & very unsafe for 2 young children . The property was in poor condition, there was no lock on downstairs shower room & fan didn’t work. We didn’t use wardrobes as they smelt musty. There was a pair of men’s underpants & trousers in the back double bedroom, under the beds was thick of dust. The T.V didn’t work either. The services stated were not provided, so you have broken your contract. For the amount of money we paid, the property didn’t match this. We have stayed in numerous houses & this was by far the worst. It was so frustrating that 5 members of my party left the property early. I attempted to use the vacuum cleaner, it was so heavy & stunk( it obviously hadn’t been emptied in ages) A very disappointing holiday that didn’t meet our expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused by the internet not working, and while we cannot guarantee the Wi-Fi speed, we do understand how frustrating this must have been. I understand that there have been ongoing issues with BT that have since been resolved. Thank you as well for highlighting areas where communication can be improved upon. As for the condition of the property, we will review our housekeeping standards going forward so that these issues do not recur. I apologise for the miscommunication regarding one of the toilets being blocked, and we appreciate the opportunity to resolve any cleanliness issues while you are at the property, which is why our housekeeper’s number is displayed at the property for your convenience. Concerns you have can be resolved immediately – but of course we need you to alert us at the time, rather than after the event. It is important for us to be able to maintain cleaning standards, so we would have appreciated a quick call at the time so all could have been addressed. We can reassure you that the balcony has recently been inspected for safety and would like to always stress the importance of supervising children while using the balcony. Thank you again for your valuable and detailed feedback, and the opportunity to improve going forward. Property Owner

The property

Mor Kernow lies in an elevated position in St Ives, Cornwall, overlooking the rooftops and out to the bay and Godrevy Lighthouse.

With four bedrooms, a balcony and seating area from which to enjoy the view, and a prime position just steps away from the beaches, shops, pubs and restaurants, this holiday home is ideal for friends, families or couples.

Enter this seaside retreat and take the stairs up to the first floor, where the living spaces rest.

The kitchen is fitted with everything you need for a self-catering break, including an all-important dishwasher to help with the cleaning up.

The living/dining room hosts a dining table, sofas to relax on after a day of exploring, and a TV, though you may not need it when the armchairs set in the bay window promise such a striking scene to admire.

The balcony leads off this room, with more seating should you fancy your morning cuppa in the fresh sea air.

To the rear, the multilevel terrace garden provides a space to dine alfresco in the warmer months.

Back inside, the first of four bedrooms includes a king-size bed, serviced by a shower room, while the remaining three bedrooms are on the second floor.

Climbing the stairs, you’ll find a super-king-size with superb views, a twin which is ideal for children or friends sharing, and a king-size with a characterful sloping ceiling to catch your rest in.

When you’re ready to head out and explore, you’ll find the stunning St Ives Harbour just a short walk away, as well as a good selection of eateries for those days when you don’t feel like cooking.

A holiday in St Ives is not complete without a trip to the stunning sandy beaches, with Porthminster and Porthmeor being the closest to Mor Kernow, and Bamaluz and Porthgwidden just a little further.

Following the coastline, you’ll reach the delightful seaside resort of Carbis Bay, and slightly further again, Hayle, known for the family-friendly Paradise Park and Jungle Barn Cornwall.

If you’re willing to hop in the car, you can even reach Lands End, Penzance, and many other iconic Cornwall attractions from here.

Enjoy a quintessentially Cornish holiday at Mor Kernow.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £100.

ST IVES

Penzance 6 miles.

One of Cornwall's prettiest harbour towns, St Ives offers narrow streets, tight-packed cottages nestling around the quayside, the Tate Gallery and Barbara Hepworth museum, fabulous beaches, superb shops, a thriving community of artists, great pubs and restaurants and much more. With its semi Bohemian lifestyle and romantic air, it's easy to see why this is the county's premier holiday resort. The surrounding area has much for the visitor to see and do with abundant wildlife, fabulous coastal walks, top quality surfing and the Celtic mysteries of the Land's End Peninsula are all within easy reach. A superb destination!
