  • "The property is in a good place for the town centre and beaches."

The view from the balcony was great. The property needs some TLC. The en suite shower was blocked and water overflowed the base. The sink in the main bathroom was blocked so we were reduced to only one bathroom. The blinds in both bedrooms are broken and need replacing. The plinth in the kitchen needs repairing. There was no parking permit only a used one that was really tatty.

We are obviously pleased you enjoyed the location and the view which is fantastic particularly on a clear day from the balcony and the lounge and dining area. We are sorry that the sink was blocked (this has now been resolved). We did not receive any notification during your stay, but we will now be putting in proactive weekly checks to make sure the issue does not re occur. The property has been heavily booked this year and so we have had little chance to resolve anything but the most basic maintenance issues. We will ensure that the issues you have encountered are all resolved during the winter as we will be upgrading the property and will update these comments as and when this work is completed including laminated parking tickets which has been an issue for more than one guest. Thanks for leaving your feedback and apologies that you have had these issues. Property Owner

  • "Nicely appointed accomodation, just a few end of season issues: blind slats taped up/broken or missing both bedrooms."

Kitchen plinth vent displaced, sink in main bathroom took ages to empty, few chipped plates. Fire door into hall didn’t close due to hinges loose. Just a few silly issues in a nice place, oh and please don’t bother with the scones and jam, the milk was handy though, thanks. Grant and Maureen

  • "We were very happy staying there but there are a few comments that we would like to make."

Once we finally found the apartment - the key situation was very complicated. We had received a number of emails with different codes but sadly none of them worked. We ended up having to call the number listed and spoke to a person who gave us access to the clearers keys for the week. The apartment was lovely and comfortable but a couple of things need to be improved - the cleaning was good but they left smear marks on the internal door and windows so when the sun shone through it wasn’t very easy to see through them. The ensuite shower was completely blocked and started to flood the whole floor so we were not able to use it after the first day for the week. The sink in the main bathroom also kept blocking. The vent under the fridge in the kitchen needs to be fixed properly - that being loose and the wood next to it is not a good sight. We did enjoy staying but I think the apartment should be listed clearer such as explaining that it is at the top of a steep hill. Had we have known better - we wouldn’t have booked there due to my partners mobility issues with his knees.

Many thanks for your feedback here and really glad you were happy overall. In terms of the issues you have found we will improve the keycode access so that it is clear and simple (sorry you had to reach out to get this resolved). The blockage has now been resolved, sorry you encountered this and we will fix the vent under the kitchen fridge during the winter maintenance period. It's also a good point regards the fact that the property is on a hill. This is a benefit for many because you get the views, parking and are still just five minutes’ walk from St Ives but appreciate completely that there is a hill to climb so sorry that this was not included in the description. • "Lovely property, well equipped and comfortable."

Unfortunately through no fault of our own our holiday was extremely affected by the farcical parking situation. We arrived late due to traffic and checked our property and there was no parking permit, due to the numerous parking signs I called the out of hours number which is a property management company who quite honestly couldn’t manage !! I was assured that this would be dealt with as an emergency and passed on to the relevant person. I left a note in the car and we woke up to our first parking ticket. I called again and was assured that a permit was being delivered that day and to ignore the parking ticket as they would get it overturned. 5 days into out 7 day holiday it wasn’t sorted we had a collection of 3 parking tickets and i was sick of ringing the owner who either didn’t answer, wouldn’t connect the call or the call went through to the management company, who as I have mentioned were useless. In those 5 days I have been lied to and fobbed off. I called the parking company myself who were extremely helpful and understanding and gave us a 2 day exemption to get it rectified saving us from 2 further tickets. In the end I called Sykes and they did get the situation rectified eventually after several calls and promises of calls back and even suggesting we moved our car !! The whole situation had a massive impact on our holiday, I had to spend each day texting, calling and emailing pictures of tickets to various people and in Cornwall where the signal isn’t great is no mean feat !! I had to pay for the tickets at a cost of £180 which the owner agreed to refund ( like he was doing us a favour) This was a ridiculous unnessary situation that had a huge impact on what should have been a relaxing stress free week away. Not even a phone call from the owner to apologise for our inconvenience at their property. The fact that we had to pay the tickets really annoyed me, thankfully we are in a position to do so but not everyone is and the financial struggle this could have placed on another family is massive. One of the reasons we booked this property was because it had parking and I understand mistakes happen but when they do someone take responsibility and rectify it swiftly, it should not have taken me 5 days to sort this out when one call to the parking company with our registration number would have done it.

We are pleased to hear that you found the property well equipped and comfortable as we know it is a lovely apartment with great sea views from the balcony. It's important to us that others get to enjoy it, so we were really sorry to hear that you were given parking tickets. This should not have happened to our guests and we have since taken action to remediate the situation. Unfortunately, and in circumstances beyond our control, the previous guests took the parking permit home by accident. We have since taken steps to stop this happening to anyone else. All properties in this apartment block are given a permit for one parking space. Really sorry it caused you unnecessary stress, please accept our apologies and we have reimbursed the fines that were allocated to your car. I hope you had a lovely week despite this happening.

Angelika Hoell

So sorry to hear that after a long journey from Germany, you had trouble finding the key box to the apartment. We have improved the instructions that are sent out electronically on booking, so this should not happen again. I'm glad that you liked Talland View and enjoyed the central position and the stunning sea views from the balcony. Sorry to hear that you found the beds to be unsatisfactory. In the 8 years that we have rented this apartment, we have never had any complaints regarding the beds and they are regularly assessed for comfort. We have also never had complaints about noise from other holidaymakers. Spare batteries are provided for the remote control and we will update the TV instructions. Thanks for bringing our awareness to the fact that they might not be clear enough. We hope that you enjoyed your stay in Cornwall. Property Owner
