  • "Nice base to visit tourist attractions and good walks with friendly neighbours."

The cottage is on a main road so you can hear the traffic early morning, but, it didn’t bother us.

  • "The cottage had not been cleaned for some time before we arrived, we found it to have cobwebs everywhere in the bath and in all rooms, the fridge had black mould on all surfaces."

The loo had wee on it and around it, the sink also was not clean. The sink in the kitchen had a water leak into a container which had been overflowing inside the cupboard for some time. What more could I say. We contacted the owner in the morning and he came round within an hour to see the problems which by this time we had cleaned up to a point, as we had to live there as we thought it would totally ruin our holiday. The owner helped to clean up and tried to repair the leak. When asked, he agreed to offer a 10 % discount. We agreed as we were totally disappointed with the problems we were facing and wanted to just get on with our holiday as best we could. When we left the leak was still not sorted.

  • "Many pros and cons."

. Pros: in a convenient position for seeing most of the sights of the North Cornwall coast.Close to the village facilities ,store pubs etc. Good modern kitchen with most facilities. Cons: parking not easy. Low uncomfortable settees. Directly on the road with constant traffic noise. Steep stairs to upper double bedroom with toilet downstairs. Television reception intermittent on many channels. May suit a young family but I would, certainly, not recommend for anyone with mobility issues or,as we are 78/80 years old.

  • "The cottage was everything I dreamed of never stayed in a cottage before and the fact that it has a working fire just adds a taste of heaven, the place was clean and tidy and very adequate for what I needed."

The advert that is on the website is exactly how the cottage looked. A postcard picture of luxury, quiet place perfect for someone who lives a stressful fast paste life to just wind down and recharge. Highly recommended.

Surrounded by luscious Cornish countryside, Bakers Cottage provides an idyllic bolthole base for families looking to escape normality and discover picturesque Cornish attractions.

Return from a day of walking and relax in the lounge, furnished with two sofas in front of a woodburning stove, ideal for a cosy night in.

Move through to the kitchen/diner, where the house chef can impress with a home-cooked dish, assisted by the electric oven and hob, microwave and fridge/freezer.

Take a seat at the dining table and toast to a long-awaited getaway with your nearest and dearest, before heading out to the rear courtyard and chatting away into the night.

As the night falls, choose from the double or twin bedroom to lay your rest, while the ground-floor bathroom provides choice of bath and shower over, so you can decide how best to prepare for the night.

Just a short stroll from Bakers Cottage will take you to the famous Bettle and Chisel pub where a warm welcome is assured, and a choice of local ales and a comprehensive menu is always available.

Alternatively, pick up a portion of fresh fish and chips from the Smugglers chippy in the village, an ideal treat to enjoy after a day on the beach.

Those looking to get their steps in can hike along the National Trust owned Glebe Cliff and see St. Pirans Well, or head inland to the town of Bodmin and discover the 18th century prison of Bodmin Jail Attraction and Bodmin Beacon.

While in the area, be sure to visit the majestic Tintagel and explore its quaint buildings and stunning scenery.

For further seaside adventures, box off Port Isaac, Polzeath and Rock, each bursting with sights, attractions, and amenities.

About the location

DELABOLE

Tintagel 3.5 miles; Camelford 3.4 miles; Port Isaac 5.3 miles.

At one time the producer of the world’s best quality building and ornamental slate, this now sleepy village is just 2.5 miles from the high cliffs and dramatic scenery of the north Cornish coastline. Perfectly placed for walking the South West coastal path, exploring the high places of nearby Bodmin Moor, or for lazing on the beach at nearby Trebarwith Strand, it’s a well-placed holiday base. The peaceful harbour village of Port Isaac and the town of Tintagel, with its tourist attractions and King Arthur’s legendary castle, are both a short drive, while the stunning surfing beach at Polzeath is a mere nine miles away. Slaughtersbridge, where King Arthur reputedly fought his last battle, is five minutes away and a drive north along the coast takes in the beautiful cove at Crackington Haven. An area away from the main tourist crowds, but very central to a vast array of places and activities. Delabole Quarry itself is just down the road and is an interesting tourist attraction with stunning views. It is the gateway to great countryside walks.
