  • "This cottage is situated in a small Hamlet."

it’s a very quiet and peaceful location. Everybody was very friendly and helpful. Great location with 7 beaches close by. Our favourites were Watergate Bay and Porthcothon Bay to name a few. We look forward to returning to explore some more. Mr & Mrs Jeffery

The beach is close by and for the adventurous it's an interesting walk we found an ancient bridge over the stream that was very pretty and when you get back you can recoup with a glass of wine in the conservatory. All in all a great place to stay.

  • "Very comfortable cottage, great location with a lovely walk through countryside (1."

5 miles) to a wonderful beach (Porthcothan). The beach is dog friendly all year and beautiful coastal walks start from both sides of the small bay.

It is very quiet and perfect to return to after a busy day on one of the nearby beaches. Constantine Bay is spectacular but parking was difficult there. It is very quiet and perfect to return to after a busy day on one of the nearby beaches. Constantine Bay is spectacular but parking was difficult there. We liked Porthcothan Bay as it isn’t too big or commercialised but the facilities are good, such as a lovely little bakery for ice creams, coffee, tea, cakes, Cornish pasties… We hired body boards there and they weren’t as expensive as at other bigger beaches. There are lovely coastal paths affording fabulous views of the magnificent rocky cliffs, sandy bays and sunsets. We even saw dolphins one evening, while watching the sun go down. Didn’t want to come home.

  • "We had a lovely time at Uphill Cottage and Malcolm, the owner, was absolutely fantastic."

We highly recommend this property and the area was perfect. Everything was exactly how we wanted it to be. Being a good distance to Porthcothan beach was fantastic. The cottage is well equipped including a washing machine and dryer. I found the beds very comfortable which is probably a first for me away from home. The location is quiet and the views from the cottage conservatory quite spectacular, very welcome after a visit to crowded Padstow we could return to the cottage and relax in the peace and quiet. The cottage is well placed to visit many of the lovely sandy beaches and the nearest one Porthcothan is about a 15 min drive away maybe a bit longer if your nervous on the narrow lanes! It’s also dog friendly. We found the storage heaters a problem in that we wanted heat in the evening and of course they had gone cold by then so we would say a more modern form of heat the guests can control. There is a log fire but being over a certain age we had no intention of coming on holiday and cleaning that out every morning we remember what that used to entail when we had coal fires! All in all we would be happy to holiday at Uphill again and would recommend to our friends.

  • "Our cottage was lovely, spent many an evening enjoying a glass of wine in the conservatory watching the sunset."

So peaceful, and with beautiful beaches on the doorstep, it was everything we hoped it would be.

  • "Upper Hill Cottage was just perfect, so cosy and pretty, it was exactly what we needed."

The cottage is small but quaint and very clean, amd the location is brilliant for reach of all the 7 beaches and Padstow.. We will be coming back soon we hope ..

A pretty and very traditional Cornish cottage, it provides all-year-round accommodation for families in this lovely part of north Cornwall.

On the ground floor a smart conservatory with lovely cane furniture for admiring the pretty rural view, leads into a homely length-of-cottage sitting room with ancient beams and large fireplace with a wood burning stove.

Enjoy family meals round the chunky table in the dining room with traditional slate floors, all freshly prepared in the well-appointed kitchen with practical utility room and pantry.

Relax and enjoy alfresco meals in the sunny, south-facing garden bordered by a rose-topped slate/granite wall.

It’s a pleasant walk to the sandy beach at Porthcothan or the spectacular beach at Bedruthan Steps, where a row of colossal, pointed stacks march out into the Atlantic waves.

Padstow’s fine harbour, restaurants and bars are just a short drive away.

A quiet, peaceful cottage, Uphill Cottage is a lovely base for exploring the seven fine beaches all within three miles of Penrose.
