  • "This is a beautiful property."

The open plan layout suited us perfectly for a family holiday. The property was clean and well maintained, and finished to a very high standard throughout. The addition of an outdoor hanging rail for wetsuits was much appreciated. We found the mattress in the master bedroom to be too firm so didn’t sleep well, but this is our personal preference. Overall this is one of the best holiday properties we have stayed in.

  • "My only feedback would be having seen all we have to do to help the cleaners !"

We walked in opened the window in lounge to find 3 bags of dog poo sat their on the wall by the back gate by garden area . The inside was perfect but the outside grass really needed a cut and the huge piece of slab over the tables which took 2 to remove and everything was really dirty I know their was bad wheather the week before but the cleaners have from 9am and other parties do not arrive till 4pm which I feel is enough time to prep everything for new people arriving The balcony from bedroom was the same very untidy had a broken twirly thing on the floor and table and chairs full of cobwebs and not cleaned It’s such a shame because the price we are paying for a week you would expect it looking on point the inside is so so nice and the area so lovely also

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by these issues. Your comments have been passed on to the team here at John Bray Cornish Holidays. • "The property was clean, but not hoovered properly, there were litters under table and by sofa."

No mention was made of the constant noise of the hundreds of crows roosting in nearby trees, unable to enjoy sitting outside because of this. Also, first Sykes cottage we've visited that had no welcome pack, not even a teabag or pint of milk. Small village, beautiful but only public house permanently closed.

My only complaint from our most recent visit is the state of the windows and the glass around the upstairs balcony, absolutely covered in bird poo, it looked awful, having said that we plan to return next month Russ from Derbyshire

Set in a lovely quiet village, with lots of footpaths to explore. Just an hour or so walk to Rock or Polzheath, which are both beautiful beaches. The house is clean and so well equipped, with all modern facilities. It was also nice to have a secure garden for our dog.

  • "At first glance Pentire was amazing and was very well furnished and equipped."

However, when we arrived our only ‘welcome’ was a note from the management company telling us to strip the beds when we left, it didn’t even say enjoy your stay! There was no Visitors Book and Information Pack, we’ve never stayed anywhere before that didn’t have this. We eventually found a few brochures in a drawer but not immediately to hand as they should have been. The Information Pack was eventually hand delivered late Thursday afternoon, we were leaving on the Friday but at least this maybe helpful for the next guests but no use to us. The grass was also not cut until the Thursday, no excuse really as the weather had been good prior to our arrival. The lounge sofa wasn’t particularly comfortable and whilst fine for two of us I don’t think it would seat more than four, possibly five. Great to have the pub so close by but this will be permanently closing very soon!

  • "Pentire is a beautiful, spacious and modern property."

The bedrooms and kitchen/ dining area was a decent size for 6 adults. Please note that only 5 adults can sit comfortably on the sofa. The house was well-equipped with cutlery, utensils and cookware. We found instructions for the appliances in a drawer towards the end of the holiday. Having these placed on the counter upon arrival would have been very helpful. We appreciate its personal preference, but most of our party found the mattresses too hard and woke up with sore backs. A mattress topper would have been greatly appreciated. At the end of our stay, we followed the instructions, which had been left by John Bray Holidays, to remove the sheets from the beds and towels from the bathrooms. This was not a relaxing way to end the holiday, especially as checkout time is 9am. There either needs to be a later checkout time or do not ask guests to start the process of laundry. Please note, Pentire is advertised on the John Bray website as having parking for 3 cars and check-in time as 4pm. Our welcome email stated 2 cars and check-in time as 4:30pm. Please update the advert or the welcome email. Thank you. Overall, our stay at Pentire was enjoyable. It has a secure garden for any guests who wish to bring a dog. A downstairs toilet and utility room, which included a washing machine and tumble dryer were nice additions to the property.

Thank you for your feedback. We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by these issues. Your comments have been passed on to the team here at John Bray Cornish Holidays. Our apologies regarding the miscommunication with the check in/out times, they are in fact 4pm and 9.30am respectively so we understand the frustration! Only concern was the living area settee that was uncomfortable to sit on. Also the fact that you had to get out all the facilities (e.g. outside table) and then put them all away was a little off putting. Nevertheless a nice play to stay.

The owners have thought of everything to make your stay welcoming and comfortable and the property is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The kitchen and utility room are equipped with top notch appliances and there's also everything you could need in the way of pans, utensils, crockery, glasses, cutlery, etc. The rest of the house is very tastefully furnished and, importantly, the beds are comfortable. Lovely bathrooms too We didn't have access to any of the garden equipment such as table & chairs and BBQ. Maybe a bit too early in the season? It didn't matter to us as the weather wasn't quite warm enough, so we wouldn't have used it anyway. St Minver is in a lovely area with Rock, Polzeath and Port Isaac being easily accessible by car. There are lovely coastal pathways nearby with stunning views over the Camel estuary towards Padstow or you can walk on the sand from Rock to Daymer Bay when the tide is out. If you book a holiday in this area you won't be disappointed and we would definitely recommend a stay at Pentire.
