“Well equipped and clean cottage and very generous welcome basket.”

Owner never told us her name or came to see us. Most equipment brand new but both double beds extremely uncomfortable. No support for mattress on one so we rolled into the middle , the other as hard as rock with a plastic over-mattress which prevented the body from breathing so very hot and sweaty.

Thrushel Cottage is set in idyllic countryside, overlooking far-reaching hills and luscious fields whilst the babbling River Thrushel runs alongside the front garden.

Spend a warm summer's evening in the enclosed garden, soaking up the last of the day's sunshine as you dine alfresco on the patio and your furry friends run around the lawn.

Explore the surrounding village of Lifton, which boasts a national award-winning farm shop, which sells local produce, and a welcoming pub where you can spend an evening delighting in a delicious pub grub alongside a crisp pint before a gentle riverside walk.

Spend a day at the historic town of Launceston nearby, home to remains of a Norman castle and two town trails for you to learn more about the rich local history before catching a ride on the Launceston Steam Railway, which stops off at Newmills Farm Park, a great day out for all the family.

The nearby stannary town of Tavistock boasts a range of wonderful attractions including the renowned pannier market, imposing ruins of the old abbey, Tavistock Museum, and a flowing canal for romantic strolls, alternatively Okehampton market town boasts a haunted castle with picnic spots, and the Museum of Dartmoor Life alongside vibrant amenities.

Discover the Tamar Otter & Wildlife Centre for an unforgettable day out as you admire unique wildlife including fallow deer, wallabies, meerkats, birds of prey, and the marvellous British and Asian Short Clawed Otters.
