Cottage was immaculate, very cosy & perfect for our holiday. The location was fantastic for a very good pub in the village, walks to the local beach and the various places we visited during our trip.

The place was very clean and comfortable and the hosts were helpful and friendly. The cottage is situated in a lovely village with a nice pub across the road. It is very close to a dog-friendly beach and it is very easy to access the coastal path from there.

  • "Another wonderful stay at Lowena, our second visit in a year."

The cottage is beautifully presented with everything inside to make it a warm comfortable stay. Parking is never an issue, we’ve always been able to park directly outside the front, with the added bonus of no parking fees, unlike other places. The New Inn opposite is a very dog friendly pub, does great food and handy to walk across to after a long day out. There’s also a good butcher along from the cottage and a well stocked local store around the corner if you wanted to cook at home, Par station is literally just down the road, where we caught the train to St Ives for a day out one day… it was so easy. Approx an hours train ride as opposed to a two hour drive and when there, it’s a short gentle walk into town. Thank you Lee and Mary for another wonderful stay,

Great pub serving lovely food. We will definitely return. There is an award winning butcher serving amazing bacon and sausage for a tasty breakfast. We had a wonderful holiday and our dog was made welcome too.

  • "The cottage was very clean and comfortable and in an excellent location with the butchers two doors away, the pub over the road and the lovely well stocked village shop around the corner (two minutes walk away)."

The garden was up some steep steps as described on the website so bear this in mind when booking. It wasn’t a problem for us as we were out every day enjoying the glorious Cornish coastline. The cottage is really well situated for exploring stretches of the South West Coastal Path and close to the Eden Centre which was well worth the the visit. Our favourite pub was the Rashleigh Arms in Polkerris but there are lots of pubs and restaurants within easy reach. Mevagissey,Fowey and Polperro are all nearby and very picturesque. We found loads of walks and Par Sands a dog friendly beach is a 15 minute walk from the cottage. The owners provided a very helpful information pack by email just before we arrived. Check in was straight forward with the key safe. The cottage was very well equipped and spotlessly clean - ideal for visiting this beautiful part of Cornwall.

  • "It was a lovely clean and bright cottage."

Really good village facilities, shop, pub, Fish and Chip Shop. Beautiful walk to Polkerris Beach. Pretty little garden and huge TV. The only thing we’d prefer is cotton sheets as the part polyester were a bit hot, but guess easier to keep clean. Would definitely recommend. Thank you. Happy for you to publish what ever bits of the feedback you like.

  • "Comfortable and spotlessly clean cottage, in a beautiful part of the UK."

Loads of places to visit locally such as Eden Project and Lost Gardens of Heligan. Some pretty beaches and towns to explore such as Fowey, Mevagissey. The local pub, 20 yards away was welcoming with good food and St Austell beers. Everywhere was dog friendly, apart from some beaches in the summer. Strongly recommend a coastal walk to next cove, Polkerris, to eat at Sam's or Rashleigh Inn. Owners quick to respond to any questions and no problem parking outside. Could do with an airier to dry clothes as not all can be tumble dried.

  • "The cottage was beautifully clean, furniture & fittings were new & everything we needed was provided."

The garden was raised & up very steep steps so we did not use it. There was a large dog that barked every time we went into the back part of the house. The owners were very helpful & gave us useful information. The nearby shop, butchers & takeaway were very handy & together with the local pub with large beer garden & very good restaurant all made for a very enjoyable stay.

Convenient for local shops and well positioned for beaches, gardens and Eden Project. Great for dogs as beach is dog friendly and forest walks about 10 minutes in car. Parking easily available outside or opposite. We had an issue with WiFi which was important to us as travelling with teenagers, but it was out of owners control and he did his very best to fix it. Overall would highly recommend.

About the location

Fowey 3.3 miles; St Austell 6.3 miles.

The pretty, historic Cornish village of Tywardreath, meaning ‘The House on the Strand’, lies in the heart of Daphne du Maurier country and features in her book of the same name. St Andrew’s, the village church, is said to have the best peal of bells in the area, while the village has a lively community, centred round its excellent pubs and range of shops. There are several safe, sandy beaches close to the village, with a variety of watersports and leisure activities available. Par, a small, china clay port with a dog friendly sandy beach is a fifteen minute walk from the village or 5 minutes in the car, home to a main line railway station. Polkerris Beach, a 30 minute walk or a 5 minute drive away, has a beachside restaurant, pub and watersports centre. The attractive waterside village of Fowey is just three miles away, from where there are some dramatic cliff walks to Gribbin Head, passing through much of du Maurier’s familiar landscape. There are many family attractions in the area, including Mevagissey and Charlestown harbours, the Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan. Tywardreath is a village that will appeal to families and those keen to explore the rich heritage and gorgeous coastline of South Cornwall.
