The welcome hamper and champagne was lovely. Very clean, comfortable & warm. Only negative comment is it is quite rural but not too far a car ride from the coast & Morrisons. Lewinnick Lodge for food is worth a visit. I would definitely recommend this accommodation.

  • "The property is beautiful, the cleanest I have ever stayed in and the decor is unusual, artistic and has some quite glamorous touches."

Lovely and tasteful crockery and glasses and exceptional home accessories. The welcome basket was extremely generous with lots to enjoy. However, I would have preferred to have towels I could use without being nervous of the repercussions and its a shame the curtains in the large window didn't close properly due to one not hanging correctly. Also the garden table hadn't been cleaned and had obviously had food or drink spilt on it. I wouldn't necessarily point these out but given the property is listed as 5 stars I think it is worth doing.

  • "The property was beautiful and we were welcomed with a very generous hamper of food and Champagne."

The owners were very friendly and close by if we needed to contact them. We were provided with a very generous supply of wood for the fire which we only used a couple of times because the property was so warm. I do think Sykes(the agents) unfairly state that you cannot enter the property before 6pm. This was not the case for us. Most holiday rentals are available from 3-4pm which is fair . I would urge Sykes to amend this to a fair and reasonable time.

A totally stunning and beautifully appointed holiday stay. All the small touches added by Tara and Phil make such a difference including a hamper full of local delicacies, chilled Champagne, beautiful bedding and White Company towels. We had such a wonderful time, so many amazing places to visit around Cornwall meant we didn’t want to leave. My other half even popped the question which made it doubly special and we will definitely be back. I could not recommend the Hideaway enough for that romantic get away that everyone needs.

We certainly chose the right place to stay. The Hideaway was so comfortable, cosy and spotlessly clean. The place is very tastefully decorated. There was a very generous welcome hamper waiting for us with lots of Cornish produce. There was even a bottle of champagne waiting in the fridge, and fresh flowers on the table. The bath on the mezzanine floor is a really nice touch too. When we did venture out, no where was too far to drive to such as St Ives, Padstow and Rock. We were so sad to have to leave and wished we’d booked two weeks instead of one. Definitely would recommend, especially for a romantic getaway

Thank you so much for your lovely revue. We so wanted you to have a memorable first anniversary, so pleased you enjoyed it…. Here’s to you celebrating many more! :-) Property Owner

We were looking for something special and luxurious and we definitely got that. The owner, Tara, was lovely, very friendly and her relaxed manor made us feel very relaxed too. We were also provided with some very lovely extra touches which really completed the special feel of the holiday. We took our two young dogs which were also made to feel very welcome and were allowed free range of the garden, which they loved. The property was in the perfect location to discover different areas of Cornwall, perfect for our first time visit here. • "1. Whilst there was a dishwasher it’s purpose was largely redundant given the limited amount of crockery and cutlery."

For example, there were only two tea mugs. We would have preferred to spend less time washing up but it was not possible to fill the dishwasher. 2. The outside lighting was very poor. We arrived in the dark and could barely see the outside steps. It is a potential accident waiting to happen. 3. It was difficult to locate the property in the dark as there was no sign outside to identify it. 4. It would have been useful if plug adapters had been provided. 5. The information pack in the apartment is out of date. For example, it recommends a restaurant which went out of business two years ago; there was no torch in the drawer. 6. Given that we paid five star prices we expected five star provisions. 7. The bed was very comfortable. 8. The apartment was located in a very quiet area which we enjoyed. 9. Alexa and the smart TVs were good. 10. The fridge freezer was good. 11. Good quality bed linen and towels were provided. Overall, we would recommend staying at the apartment. If the owner makes the suggested improvements it will be even better!

    1. When we first encountered the pandemic we were instructed to remove as much of the potential material that could harbour the virus and this resulted in us reducing cutlery and crockery to the bare minimum. We also removed all books and a lot of the soft furnishings in accordance with the guidelines. Since then there has been no further instruction or suggestion to go back to the original stock levels of soft furnishings crockery cutlery et cetera however we have decided to replace the crockery and I’ve just purchased a new set of Dartington fine bone china of which there are four items of dinner plates side plates cereal bowls and pasta bowls. The cutlery has also been increased in number to 4 of each item and also the tea mugs. 2. The outside lighting unfortunately was not working over the steps we have upgraded the light fittings to more powerful ones in this area and also over the door in order that it makes it easier to see the numbers on the key safe. 3. We do not have a sign outside the property that is correct however usually the welcome email contains enough information to guide you into the drive and as far as the door to The Hideaway. 4. We do not understand what is meant by plug adapters. There are plenty of double 13 amp sockets in this property. 5. I have today updated the information in the welcome pack, yes absolutely right Jamie Oliver’s restaurant 15 has gone out of business. Thank you for pointing this out as there are some other details that are now out of date. I’ve also replaced the torch and placed it in the cutlery drawer underneath the draining board, this has gone missing for some reason and it is now on the housekeeper’s inventory check list. 6. We are confused by your comment of we expect five star provisions. We do provide a hamper for our guests which comprises of many items of Cornish produce including jam, chutney, biscuits, pilchards, scones, clotted cream, chocolate and tea. We also provide coffee pods for the coffee machine and simple things like sugar, salt and pepper. In the case of this guest and considering the time of year we also provided a bottle of Veuve Clicquot a pair of nice crystal champagne flutes as a gift and an Hotel Chocolat gift pack to help with the New Year celebration. 7/8/9/10 and 11. Thank you for your comments, we pride ourselves on providing as much comfort as possible for our guests. Property Owner

What we were perhaps given to believe was that the property was completely on it's own, with no other people anywhere close by. In fact all was communal outside with some building works ongoing. Perhaps we expected too much. Otherwise everything was absolutely beautiful, the living space wonderfully done, absolutely everything we needed (except a butter knife........), the welcome pack generous and much needed after a long journey there. A lovely location. The local pub served some of the best food we had, and the local shop handy, but more than - 1 mile away, in a car. In all we, and our dog did enjoy our stay at the Hideaway despite being surrounded.... Oh, perhaps the house name should be outside, on the lane ~ difficult to find in the dark.

From the lofty, open plan living area, the eye is drawn immediately to the galleried bedroom, lavishly furnished with a freestanding bathtub, 42" Smart TV, super king bed and crisp white linens.

Downstairs, a sleek contemporary well-equipped kitchen leads off from the restful lounge area, where a generous log burner forms the hub of this romantic retreat.

The terrace outside - complete with ornamental pond, loungers and a chiminea; provides a very pretty spot in which to enjoy a morning coffee or evening sundowner.

Guests can also enjoy wandering through the estate's orchard and paddock, as well as the woodland and ruins of the grand manor house which once took pride of place just a short walk away.

Blissfully peaceful and secluded, you are unlikely to see anyone else during your stay, perhaps only the property owners or guests of the adjoining barn, the Lost Barn.

When you are ready to explore further, the beautiful north Cornish coast is just a short drive away, offering fantastic walks, stunning scenery and some of the best surfing conditions in the UK.

But if all this sounds a bit too energetic for you, then why not simply relax and unwind with a bit of pampering at either the Bedruthan Steps or the adults-only Scarlet Hotel.

Foodies are spoilt for choice in this part of the world, too, Rick Stein and Paul Ainsworth's restaurants in nearby Padstow and Nathan Outlaw's at Port Isaac.
