As a family of 4 with a 4 and 6 year old, we've just spent a week at Rivercrest and it was an amazing holiday. There are many positives and a few small negatives to this property but they are not bad enough to lose review stars for. Positives: Amazing location to the town, beach, pubs, restaurants etc. Modern apartment. Wi-fi was good enough to stream Netflix over the smart TV (but struggled once our phones were connected). The apartment is well equiped and very comfortable. The view is stunning, day and night and sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine in the evening was very relaxing. The back door leads to an outside covered area which was great for leaving sand buckets and wet clothing before entering the property. It would be great for surfers and fishing trips. Negatives: Parking is very awkward. Just an hour to unload and load and that's if no one else has parked there. There's a roof top parking area chained off next to Rivercrests gate that could be used for customers during high seasons? We paid £45 for a weeks parking on a large car park at the bottom of the hill (about 5-10 minutes walk). If you are planning a lot of day trips in the car it may be too much. The daily walk up to the apartment might put people off. It is a very steep walk that is a bit round the houses due to no main road access, but it didnt really bother us too much because Looe is very hilly anyway. Overall if you are looking for a well positioned apartment that has stunning views then this apartment is great. We will be staying there again.

The property

If you are looking for a holiday with everything on your doorstep, a short walk to a choice of safe beaches and a wide selection of old Inns and restaurants in an historic fishing town, then a stay at Rivercrest could be just what you are looking for.

This lovely holiday home occupies what must be one of the best locations, with fabulous views, within this charming seaside town.

The views from the balcony are ever-changing and you will no doubt choose to spend many an hour looking down upon the boats and river that separates East and West Looe, joined by the magnificent arched stone bridge.

Looking over to the hustle and bustle of East Looe and right out to sea is always a hive of activity, and you are rewarded with these views the moment you arrive.

Enter via the balcony right into the contemporary living area, with comfortable sitting and dining areas, as well a well-equipped kitchen, all designed to make the most of the amazing views.

There are two bedrooms here, as well as a double sofa bed in the sitting area.

Just down from the balcony, a large private Mediterranean-style terrace is an ideal quiet spot to relax, whatever time of day.

With a choice of beaches, East Looe offers safe swimming and is perfect for sunbathing and sand castles.

On the beach at West Looe, the rock pools change with every tide, and are a great source of amusement to children of all ages.

With so much going on in and around Looe it would be easy to leave the car parked up for your entire stay.

But with charming old villages such as Polperro so close by, there will always be something to do, making Rivercrest the perfect choice for a holiday home in Cornwall whatever time of year.

About the location

LOOE

Liskeard 9 miles.

Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. You can also catch the river taxi between East and West Looe. East Looe has narrow cobbled streets, twisting alleyways and plenty of tourist shops, whilst West Looe has a lovely outlook across the harbour. Looe’s viewpoint, Banjo Pier, can be reached from the quay and is a great spot to watch the returning fishing trawlers and look across the bay to Looe Island, which can be walked to occasionally at very low tides. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. There is also a great rock pool area at Hannafore that children will love. West Looe has a Heritage Centre that recently opened in the Old Sardine Factory with a climbing wall and a cafe and the delightful Kilminorth Woods have way marked walks through the majestic oak wood, rich in plant, insect and bird life. Apart from beach activities in this part of south east Cornwall, there are many mining remains on Bodmin Moor and in the Tamar Valley and much of the mining landscape has World Heritage status. This area of Cornwall has inspired writers, such as Daphne du Maurier and much of Bodmin Moor has inspired legends linked with King Arthur. There is much to explore in this beautiful part of Cornwall.
