  • "A really beautiful, cosy and well equipped cottage in an extremely peaceful location."

The garden and balcony were lovely, it is just a shame the weather was terrible, but it didn’t spoil our enjoyment! Thank you a wonderful stay and the treats were a nice touch. The only negative was the smaller of the 2 bedrooms would be better with a single bed as it was really cramped and difficult to move around

  • "We had a fabulous stay."

The cottage is really well equipped, extremely comfortable and quiet. The garden and balcony are fantastic for for enjoying the countryside setting. Mini and Nick are lovely and do everything they can to ensure you have a wonderful holiday. A great small town and with good local walks. There are plenty of other places of interest and towns a car ride away. The Vale Leisure Centre with its swimming pool and gym in Pewsey are an added bonus!

So grateful for the milk and bread etc as we arrived late on Saturday evening. Loved all your art work. So close to the Wilts archaeological landscape, which we managed to visit on the sunnier days. So many places to visit in or near Pewsey. Thank you for letting us stay.

  • "Unfortunately we have had a nightmare of a stay with our 6 year old."

There are notes all over saying they are trying to fix things which come across very snarky. We couldn't relax as we had to watch our child every second because the ladder to mezzanine and outdoors stairs weren't safe for him to go up on his own..and of course he wanted to go up all the time. We ended up stranded there in the village 3 days due to breaking down on the way. It does feel very unsafe to walk into the village just because of country roads and speed, so worth noting. Not much to do in the village and our child was sick after eating at the local cafe (he's rarely ill). Please note their floor isn't child friendly as it's not cleanable. This meant the sick stain wouldn't come off. After not hearing from them for weeks (we assumed we'd get a reasonable cleaning bill) they contacted us out of the blue weeks later (after showing case closed on Sykes) with a £495 bill. After lots of endless harassment from Sykes and legal action being mentioned over and over along with a lack of real evidence of why we were paying for full repairs (I mean come on, a child was sick on holiday - if everyone wanted £500 I think people with children would have to never go anywhere), we eventually had to pay the amount via our insurance. £495!!!!!!!!! To clean vomit stain. On a voicemail I was advised by Sykes that this is because we had paid for the owner to have the whole floor polished. He wasn't sick on the whole floor. This was done by a specailist......yes not a specialist, but a 'company' who according to their vague evidence of why they did the work call themselves specailists. So whole summer ruined due to harassment on our next holiday (not to mention sheer stress and worry that we might spill something) and very costly. I would only stay if you don't have children and won't accidentally spill something on the floor.

  • "The mezzanine seemed of little use other than the window view, but we are a little old for that sort of climbing."

There are lovely views from the roof terrace but we would find it difficult carrying a drink up there at our age (in our 70's) That said, if neither were there the rest of the accommdation was excellent, with plenty of space inside and out. It is very private with lawn, patio, seating and suntraps (at ground level) which were lovely. The smaller bedroom was perhapse a little small, or the bed a little large as there was no room for a bedside table, but still very comfortabe. We would definitely book again as a very convenient location for the myriad of attractions in the area (and visiting our family in the area)

  • "We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Vale Lodge in Pewsey."

The cottage is modern yet cosy, really well equipped and in the perfect location to explore many of the nearby pre-historic sites and beautiful landscapes. We adored the views of the Vale from the roof terrace and loved the hidden aspect of the cottage just on the edge of the village. There are many trails and canalside walkes, the lovely Vera Jeans Reserve and Sunnyhill are easily accessible from the cottage. Savernake Fores and the White Horses and Wilton Windmill are ony a short drive away.

  • "Clean well kept property located just outside the village of Pewsey."

Very nicely designed with comfortable seating and modern fresh rooms. It is possible to walk into Pewsey across fields (with a very short road walk) but the lack of pavements would stop you walking into the village on the roads (especially after dark). It is very close in a car. The property is compact and has most things anyone would need for a short break - the microwave is usable for non liquid things but is an issue. We were very comfortable and happy with the cottage. Beds very comfortable. Very quite cottage.

  • "Lovely cottage very clean has everything you need and a lovely welcome pack on arrival my kids loved the lemon cake from the local bakery."

The location did mean with a baby in a pram we couldn’t really go a walk from the cottage as there was no footpath but wouldn’t be a problem if we didn’t have the pram. The cottage is also a bit of a squeeze for a family of 4 but there is space in the living area for suitcases so was fine for the week . All the the kitchen appliances etc are modern but we did need the manuals to work them ! Fridge/freezer is an excellent size as some cottages we have been to before they have been tiny . Microwave though is in a very awkward position to get things in and out. We used the cottage as a base to go to legoland and peppa pig world and it was perfect for this and if it wasn’t for the size of the cottage we would come back again as everything else was perfect . Only other thing to note is it is advertised as baby friendly but there isn’t actually a cot available to use which was fine as I planned to bring me own anyway but just something to know if coming with a baby . Lovely views from the rooftop terrace too and the table tennis table in the garden was great for something to do at night .

..very modern and very clean. Loved the balcony...the views were amazing and lots of wildlife including a barn owl, rabbits and a deer. Walks around Pewsey were great...lots of open countryside and great views. The only thing to note was the spiral staircase up to balcony was very narrow and steep and lots of care needed to use it. Overall the stay was great. Would highly revommend the lodge and the area.

The facilities provided were excellent, including the rooftop area with scenic views ( go careful carrying the beer and wine up the spiral staircase !) and the enclosed garden patio. The file of information has a set of walking maps around the local area, several of which can be started from the lodge. Artwork by the owner enhances the decor of the property. Highly recommended.

  • "We enjoyed our short stay at Vale Lodge and appreciated the generous welcome pack."

The accommodation was very clean, modern, stylish, and well appointed. As others have commented, the second bedroom (which we did not need to use) is very small as a double room with barely space to move around the bed. Numerous operating manuals are provided for the heating and appliances which are largely digital and touch sensitive. If guests intend to make extensive use of the microwave it is difficult to reach, and the open position the door hinders removing heated food. Pewsey is centrally located for visiting towns and tourist attractions in all directions. Vale Lodge proved to be a quiet, comfortable, and convenient retreat for a few days away from home.

The accommodation was spotless and all the furnishings and kitchenware were modern and in good condition. Plenty of extras were provided which are not always standard, eg, wine cooler, sky tv, fridge freezer. Also the internet was great . The bedrooms are only small, esp the double but there is plenty of room in the living area for storage etc. and this wasn't a problem. We even sat on the roof terrace as the weather was good and had enjoyed the lovely views. Can highly this place and would return for another stay.

  • "A very lovely, clean and well equipped holiday let that didn't disappoint."

Although it is compact, it didn't feel too small with 3 adults sharing the space and it has been very well designed to maximise the space available. The living space and facilities were top quality and the garden was a nice place to relax. If you have any mobility issues it can be a little hard to access the terrace, but this is a minor point and didn't stop us from enjoying the surroundings and outdoor space. The second bedroom might be a little tight for space with 2 adults sharing, but you're only sleeping there, so it really wasn't an issue for us. The welcome package meant that a lovely cup of tea and slice of cake was easy to do on arrival. Would definitely recommend as a place to stay.
