  • "The property was in a stunning location and the layout was ideal."

The owners had also provided us with a some locally produced food items, which was a surprise but, also much appreciated. The cottage was clean and well prepared and with two outdoor areas for relaxing in the warm spring weather which we valued. As well as their warm welcome the owners had provided a great deal of information about local amenities and attractions. A wonderful holiday!

  • "A magnificent little hide away."

Difficult to find but if you want peace and quiet this excellently appointed little barn conversion could well be what you want. Janet and Peter, the owners live very near and are very hospitable and helpful. Sykes on the other hand drove me "potty" with a constant bombardment of e-mails and promo' materials. Oxbarton 5 stars, giving Sykes 3 is generous.

We’d have scored you higher if the persistency of emails was lower. Oxbarton and the hosts were fabulous.

  • "Absolutely wonderful!"

The lovely owners have renovated this barn to such a high standard - everything is so comfortable and clean, the photos do not do it justice. Surrounded by fields, a lovely tranquil setting.l. We’ve been to Wells, Bath, Bristol, Longleat. Took our 1 and 3 year old - very family friendly. Owners lovely and thanks for the treats in the fridge! Would highly recommend.

Lots of information for things to do including personal recommendations from the hosts. Also, lovely welcome to be greeted with home made cookies and scones with jam & cream.

  • "We had such a wonderful stay at Oxbarton Barn!"

The pictures do not do it justice, mostly because you just can't capture a feeling in a photo. The house is situated in a beautiful field, and the greenery you can see from all the windows brings such a lovely, relaxing atmosphere. The bedroom windows in particular are beautiful. The conversion has been done so thoughtfully. We made use of the access to the adjoining fields too, and the view over the nearby lake from up the hill were just lovely. Such a peaceful spot. The building had all the amenities we needed, was nice and warm (underfloor heating!) and very clean - especially reassuring during current Covid times. The local produce they'd left for us on arrival was a lovely treat too! The owners were away themselves when we arrived, but were very communicative even though we only booked with 24 hours notice, and Janet popped by later in the week to say hello (from a safe distance!) which was lovely of her. Oxbarton was also a great spot to explore the rest of Somerset from. We visited Wells, Frome, Bath, Glastonbury, Cheddar Gorge, the Avalon Marshes and a few local walking spots - some were closer than others, but all were within a 45 minute drive. We're not usually ones to re-visit the same place twice, as there's just too many other places to explore, but we may well come back to Oxbarton one day as it was just that lovely. Thank you so much Pete & Janet!

  • "This is our second stay here!"

We truly love the peace and space at Oxbarton. The barn is so very well equipped, we wanted for nothing. The owners have done such a thoughtful renovation of this beautiful building. Had some great cycle rides and walks around the surrounding countryside. It is a perfect location for us to have day trips catching up with friends and family in the area. We have already said it before...but we will definitely be back!!!

The underfloor heating kept us warm. This accomodation is very well equiped and the beds are comfortable. The WiFi was unreliable though, it frequently failed, but restarting the router brought it back online and when working it was fast.

  • "Oxbarton was a beautiful place to stay."

The cottage was of high quality and was equipped with everything you might need or want on a trip away. The surrounding area was stunning with breath taking views of the countryside and Blagdon lake. There was lots of information at the cottage on places to visit and we thought the welcome package of homemade jam, marmalade, free range eggs and milk was very thoughtful. We had the added pleasure of seeing an owl and some bats which reside there.

  • "The cottage was perfect, had everything we needed, all the information about the property was clearly given."

Had lovely welcome gifts of fresh milk, homemade jam and pickle and a personal handwritten note from the owners. The owners son also called round to make sure everything was ok with us and we were happy with everything. A beautiful, remote location, but only a small car ride to the beach and lots of other places of interest. Would certainly go back!! Ten out of ten for this holiday property.

  • "Oxbarton is a cottage of pure delight."

The conversion has been done so well and makes for a beautiful space. There is plenty of room, the decor is lovely and the furnishings and bedding etc are to a very high standard. Everything you need for a stay is provided - from luxury towels in the modern bathroom to everything you would need in the kitchen. It is comfortable, clean, well-equipped and peaceful. The underfloor heating is wonderful, hot water is plentiful and a full sized dish washer and washing machine were great. The welcome pack that was left for us was amazing and enjoyable. The owners have thought of everything and we have even bought home some ideas from there to use in our own home. The area is stunning and Oxbarton is within easy drive of Wells, Bath, Bristol, Glastonbury, Bradford-on-Avon etc and we had a chance to visit them all - there are a couple of really good grocery shops in nearby Blagdon and Churchill and loads of lovely places around to eat and drink. We will definately be booking again, we loved it there.

A really thoughtful barn conversion equipped with a good eye for understated style and detail. Only quibble - it did only have one bathroom not two as listed. Location info was poor despite contacting Sykes - for other visitors, once at the top of Awkward Hill turn right and the driveway is almost immediately on your left by the bridle path with a timber sign. So peaceful, so beautiful,
