  • "Stunning property - loved it!"

We had a wonderful holiday at The Anchorage. The property is amazing, so much space and light and extremely well fitted out to very high standard. We were greeted by Martin the owner who could not have been more helpful, and provided us with a tray of fresh organic eggs from the farm which were voted the best we have tasted. A lovely touch. The kitchen/ diner is very spacious and airy. The dining table seated all of us comfortably. Martin made us twin beds where needed, the beds were super comfy and the bathrooms extremely well appointed. The pool table/lounge was great too and as mentioned in another review has the most gorgeous chandeliers. The gardens and views from the property are spectacular. The utility room and washer and dryer were incredibly useful especially with two little ones in our party. The log-fired hot tub was great too. Thanks for a brilliant stay. Highly recommend The Anchorage, we will be returning and indeed have already booked another visit!

We would highly recommend this property to anyone who is thinking of booking it. Can’t wait to stay here again.

Great layout of bedrooms. Facilities were fantastic, we loved the hot tub and the pool table. Washing machine and tumble dryer were a real bonus, we came home with lots of clean clothes instead of lots of washing. Plenty of parking. Loads of space for all of us to spread out and not be on top of each other. Would recommend to all my friends.

I say cottage lightly the place is huge. Martin was really welcoming and always on hand (even on Boxing day). The rooms were spotless. We did have one maintenance issue that wasn't resolved but I appreciate calling for a plumber over Christmas might have been a tad difficult. All in all a great stay, we cannot wait to return.

All 10 of us (friends/family) were extremely impressed with the property and the facilities. We were met on our arrival on the Friday by Martin, the owner who showed us around. Martin was very helpful and available by phone if we needed anything. The pool table and hot tub were a hit with all of us. We ventured out to Malmesbury on the Saturday. We decided to spend a relaxing day at The Anchorage on the Sunday and set ourselves the challenge of completing the 1000 piece Amazon Rainforest jigsaw which we finally managed to complete before we left Monday morning. We were all in agreement that it was definitely a place we wanted to come back to in the future. What a brilliant place you have Martin.

The moment we walked through the front door we knew we had booked a winner! An absolutely stunning place to stay. 10 of us went to the Anchorage for a friends birthday treat. There was so much room. The kitchen/ diner is huge. The dining table seats 10 comfortably. All bedrooms bar one were en suite, but even then the bathroom was so close to the room. Martin made us twin beds where needed. The lounge has the most gorgeous chandeliers in different colours. The gardens and views from the property just wonderful in their autumn colours. All in all breathtaking ..... we will return! P.s ..... just reading other reviews ....no eggs for us

Thanks Catherine. It was great having you here for your celebrations. I am glad you enjoyed the property with particular mention to the lights in the lounge. One day was incessant pouring rain so we never went out and had a lovely day. 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms are ideal although it’s a pity one is not en suite although it is very close. Lighting the hot tub is fun and we even got it too hot and had to wait for it to cool.

Hi Wendy. Glad you had a great week and the house worked well for the group. We agree, A shower room for every bedroom works well for large groups. A little tip for the hot tub - if it gets too hot then just top it up with cold water from the spa tap alongside (like you would a bath) as appose to waiting for it to cool down naturally. Saying that The Anchorage was very comfortable ,clean and spacious inside and out and well positioned.

Thank you for your review. I’m glad you found the property comfortable, clean and spacious. Information provided within the guest book and provisions given, particularly in reference to the kitchen, have up until now, been more than adequate for previous guests. That said, upon receipt of your list, I did fulfil your wish list and provided you with the items you believed to be lacking whilst pointing out the items that were already in the property that you missed. However, with all good intentions, there will undoubtedly always be something that is of convenience that you use at home, but not necessarily an item that is provided within a holiday rental property. Therefore, I thank you for allowing me to add to the inventory and these items remain in the property for future guests should they too find them of use. Should you and your friends be looking to ramble again in Wiltshire, then I look forward to welcoming your return. Martin Property Owner

For those venturing to the countryside for a farm stay, particularly in summer then flies are a way of life.
