  • "We had a very pleasant 4 nights."

Very quiet & very comfortable. Sheep & lambs in the field a few yards from the door and country walks from the house. Tha Park & Ride at Odd Down is 5 mins drive away, free to park then we used our passes so nothing to pay!

  • "This place was a real find!"

It is ideally situated for both Bath and Bristol (we made good use of the Park and Rides for both cities) yet peaceful and surrounded by lovely countryside for walking. Matt was a great host - readily on-hand if we needed anything.

Thank you for providing us with your feedback. It's great to hear that you had a lovely stay at The Cottage At Barrow Mead and we cannot wait to welcome you back to the property one day in the future! Property Owner

The cottage is well located on the edge of Bath, it’s location close to the park-and-ride especially noteworthy. All in all, strongly recommended.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at The Cottage at Barrow Mead. It is a great location to visit Bath and with the Bus stop at the end of the road, it's very convenient to. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "The property is in an excellent location, only about 10 minute drive into Bath which is a very beautiful little city with plenty to see."

We also visited Bristol twice which is about 10 miles away. Once in the cottage you wouldn't think you were so close to town as it was very quiet and surrounded by fields. The cottage itself was very well equipped with everything we could possibly need. The owner was very welcoming and friendly, we were greeted with local apple juice and eggs from his chicken on our arrival which was lovely. However this may not be the property for you if you are very afraid of spiders as lots seemed to find their way in, especially upstairs!

Thank you very much for your feedback on the Cottage at Barrow Mead. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay. We are sorry about the spiders, this time of year is the time they prefer to be in the cottages. Property Owner

  • "Delightful cottage."

Despite the summary on the Sykes site, it is still astonishing that the place can be so close to a busy road in a city and yet feel so remote. From the sunny window upstairs the views across the countryside give no indication of the metropolis nearby. Can't hear it either. Park & Ride is just a few minutes drive away and free to use for us ancients with concessionary pass. There are pleasant walks from the cottage and the owners are very friendly and helpful. Perfect.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your recent stay at The Cottage At Barrow Mead. It's lovely to hear how much you enjoyed the stay and how convenient the location is for town access. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

The cottage is in a lovely secluded spot but only 15mins from bath city centre. I really liked that they were eco friendly and trying to be with ethical and sustainable. I didn’t notice this in the listing though which I think a lot of people would like to know.

  • "We had a wonderful break in a dream location."

On arrival we were greeted by Matt who explained about the cottage and the local facilities. The welcome pack was a nice thought and covered basic essentials, including fresh farm eggs...The cottage was light and airy, modern decor and spotlessly clean. In addition the bed was as comfy as those claimed by a national hotel chain. Getting about was easy with local bus stops close by as was the park and ride 5 minutes up the road. Some 10 minutes walk was a local Tesco convenience store. The owners are operating a very green business model and that has a to br commended. In summary an idyllic location to stay in clean and comfortable accommodation with great owners. Highly recommend .

despite being off a main road it is actually quite secluded. The cottage was comfortable and had everything we needed. The owners are friendly and helpful and kindly gave us a lovely welcome basket including fresh eggs from the chickens which the kids loved! we very much appreciated the time taken to tell us about the orchard and the surrounding area-it was very kind and welcoming. the location is excellent for visiting Bath with bus routes and the park and ride nearby or a 10 minute drive into the centre itself. we also visited Lacock Abbey, Bradford-on-Avon, Longleat, Frome, Cheddar Gorge and lots of other lovely towns all in reasonable driving distance. would absolutely recommend this cottage and the children are already asking to return!

The location was excellent, very close to Bath but also in a quiet location. One immediately had the feeling of being in the English country side with lovely views. In addition to the very comfortable cottage a table and chairs was made exclusively available to us where we could sit under the trees on the edge of the apple orchard. All in all, an experience we will never forget.

  • "We loved our stay at the barrowmead cottage."

We wish it could have been longer. The location and the view was excellent. Matt and Louise were great hosts. The house was really cute and cosy. The fire place was all setup and ready to go. So was the kitchen, with a cute basket full of goodies. Even though it's well connected to the city, once you are in the property it feels you are amongst nature. We would love to visit and stay there again. :) Mr Sen, May 2017.

The Cottage At Barrow Mead!

When we visited this delightful cottage, we couldn't believe it is where it is and that you are actually IN Bath, well actually you're not, it's just that you are near the centre but you look out across open countryside!!

As you pass through Bath, you suddenly find this little lane running alongside a school approximately 1/2 mile later and you're in the middle of nowhere, overlooking the rolling countryside of the southern Cotswolds.

Hikers, birdwatchers and those in search of peace are just as likely to enjoy this super cottage as are those looking for culture, shops and a gastronomic experience, given its proximity to the heart of Bath, which is just 15 minutes away in the bus or car.

Inside, the open plan ground floor gives a real sense of space which, with the woodburning stove, is just as welcoming and snug in winter as it is cool and inviting in summer.

The private garden area overlooking the orchard and rolling countryside offers a super hideaway, while listening to birdsong.

A little piece of heaven in Bath.
