  • "Lovely property, was spotless when we arrived."

Bed was very comfortable and although we had a lot of rain and didn’t get to enjoy it, the garden was a really good size. Fab location and despite being on the high street was very quiet.

Thank you for this feedback. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay at Lanes Cottage and loved the location too. We hope to welcome you again when the weather is nicer! Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Pro's Lovely well presented cottage in great location."

Very comfortable beds Improvements needed When paying £230 a night we hoped we might have found a bag (£10) of logs. The few small bits left didn't even keep us going for the first night. The open fire is a selling point. Although there were 3 toilet rolls left. They were cheap and didn't last the 2days. These touches I felt would have improved the stay. Apart from that all was very good.

Thank you for providing this feedback and we're glad you loved the cottage and location. We always supply a starter pack of logs and hope this issue didn't impact your stay. We would love to welcome you again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

Fantastic position in the Main Street but down the “posh”end as my son says. He lives up the other end near a pub, both nice really.. We only stayed for the weekend and ate out, so many restaurants and places to choose from. The weather was great so we were able to sit in the garden and walk around the town and fields behind. The cottage felt very comfortable and homely.

I highly recommend this cottage and it is also a perfect destination for the various Cotswolds towns/villages etc you may wish to visit. Loved our stay perfect.

  • "Delightful cottage, very well placed for enjoying Chipping Campden and the Cotswolds generally."

It was extremely well-equipped throughout and the kitchen was bigger than it looked in the photo. A lovely garden to enjoy too. Just be aware if you are very tall that the toilet is very cramped though there is plenty of room in the bathroom generally. We had no trouble parking in the road opposite for the whole of our week's stay and the cottage was blissfully quiet.

  • "The cottage was spot on for a few nights as a base in the Cotswolds."

It's a very short walk onto the Chipping Campden High Street, so ammenities were on our doorstep. The cottage itself we very clean, tidy & well appointed. We could have easily stayed for a week or two. We were two friends, however, even two couples could have stayed, although one room only has a "regulare" double, so a little "cosy" for two! Beyond that, it has a lovely garden, all the rooms were very usable & pleasant environments to spend time. It is a cottage, so it's not palatial, however, there was more than enough room for 2, 3 or 4 people. I'd gladly recommend the place to others & stay again myself.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback which is much appreciated. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay and found the location so convenient. We would love to welcome you again. Best wishes Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "The location is excellent, with several good restaurants, pubs and shops within easy walking distance."

Photographs of the cottage did not unfortunately include one of the stairs, and had they done so I would not have booked it. The stairs twist as they ascend from the ground floor and then go up in a straight flight. There is a handrail, but owing to a small window on the stairs the handrail only begins when the stairs become a straight flight. For anyone with a mobility issue, the stairs could well prove difficult. The cottage was very clean, and comfortably furnished, but the second bedroom, which was for one person, did not have a wardrobe, and the only place to hang clothes was a few hooks on the back of the door. The rear garden is in several tiers, beautiful, and secure for a dog. There was a table and chairs on a paved area adjacent to the kitchen and another table and chairs on a paved area at the top of the garden. I booked this cottage in the expectation of having a relaxing break, but there were building noises from the adjacent cottage most of the week which made it impossible at times to stay indoors . A previous guest had written about building noises as far back as last December! It would have been reasonable I believe for the possibility of noise to have been mentioned in the description of the cottage.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We try and be as transparent as possible on the property listing which mentions the head-height and narrow stairs along with photos to show this. The Cotswold Cottage was built around 1850's so has it's expected quirks. Best wishes, Character Cottages Property Owner

There is no power socket in the bathroom for a tooth brush. The garden steps were a bit steep for our old dog but it is a lovely garden .Lots of places to eat out I especially liked The Eight Bells inn .The toilet in the cottage might be in a tight spot for some people if you are tall 6ft plus maybe . Generally though it's a lovely little cottage

Location, perfect. If this was summer or spring it would be fine but in winter, you need blankets for guests and there are none, maybe due to Covid-19 regulations. Plus there is work being done next door which made it like a construction site. Plus the water temperature in the shower is unmanageable.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed the location. The blankets are located in the cupboard in the main bedroom. We will investigate the situation on the neighboring property. Best wishes, Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "Amazing place right in the centre of town."

Dover Hill is a nice 20 minutes walk away and very easy to get to. The town has everything you need in it. We booked on the basis of previous reviews and they were accurate down to a T. Bedroom is spacious, nice big bathroom and enough room in the living room for 2 by the fire. would have been quite cosey with 4 though I think. Firewood is available round the corner from the Co-op. The TV is a very good quality screen which is around 38 inches. It comes away from the wall so the pictures make it look more awkward than it is. Towels were a little small so if you like a big towel would suggest bringing your own, similarly only 1 toilet roll is provided so should definitely bring extra. Would definitely go back and it gets a well deserved 5 stars.

CHIPPING CAMPDEN

Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Stratford-upon-Avon 12 miles

This market town defines the saying "good things come in small packages" as it proves itself to be a wonderful place for tourists to stay. Chipping Campden sits in the northern part of the Cotswolds and boasts many historical buildings from St. James' church where the Chipping Camden Music Festival is held every year, to the early 17th century market hall upon which the town prides itself. Not only does the town have a rich history but much more, the high street is laced with charming Cotswold stone buildings with a range of shops and pubs. Nearby there are several beautiful, formal gardens for you to wander through. Chipping Campden has held its own 'Olimpick Games' since the early 1600s including peculiar sports such as 'shin-kicking', most certainly worth lining your holiday up with to experience something so unique. For a dose of famous history, head to the birthplace of William Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon just 12 short miles away, it offers some charming little buildings, bookshops, theatres and museums.
