  • "The property was fantastically quaint and exactly what we wanted."

It would have been helpful to know in advance that they would only provide a few logs for the fire and we'd need to purchase more. Arriving on a Sat evening in a remote village meant everything was closed until Monday so we had to travel quite a few miles in the fog to get logs, which, in the middle of winter was essential. (If we'd have knows, we would've brought some en route). The bed was also very small (I'm not sure really that it was a double) and the mattress quite uncomfortable. It could do with a new one. We also had absolutely no mobile signal (two phones on two networks) but luckily the WIFI worked perfectly for the stay. But it was a downfall when we booked a table at a restaurant and travelled in the fog for 10 miles to be told they had no gas but had tried to call us to tell us there was no food service! Otherwise, the property was beautiful and the town was lovely. Outside of the above issues, it was exactly what we were looking for. The mince pies and milk were a welcomed touch on arrival.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Brooklands. We do only provide starter packs in all our cottages with regards to logs, but you can get them at pretty much any petrol station in the cotswolds. I will pass on your comments with regards to the bed to the owner for review. Again mobile signal is generally hit and miss in remote locations, but the wifi is good. Going forward if this is important, please ask us when booking your cottage and we can advise. It's a lovely little cottage in a very quiet setting, perfect for a getaways. Property Owner

We didn’t find the bed comfortable and mattress cover needs replacing, a new king size bed would make all the difference.

Garden okay but still had to climb up stairs to get to it.if you young. It probably be okay not for older people.sorry.

Many thanks for feeding back on your stay at Brooklands. There is no handrail up the stairs as there is a banister instead. The bathroom chairs are intended for the purpose of putting clothes/towels on whilst bathing or showering as well as a place to perch whilst changing. They are not intended for sitting on for long periods of time. We hope these things did not impact your stay greatly and that you still had an enjoyable holiday at Brooklands. Property Owner

  • "I expected to be able to use the second bedroom and bed as my husband and I are elderly and have poor sleep patterns."

Really we found the cottage dark and gloomy and having to use the steep creaking stairs to use the toilet quite chore. It's in a fabulous area but it's basic. Thankfully there is, a friendly neighbour who allowed us to use his parking space or that too would have been difficult given the position of the cottage.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your recent stay at Brooklands. You could of course have used the 2nd bedroom during your stay, you just needed to make us aware and the room would have been made up for your use. The cottage is a period cottage and it will be dark in places with beams and stairs that creak slightly due to the age of the cottage. I'm sorry if it wasn't up to your expectations and hope we can welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

Really comfy beds and all you needed for a self catering stay in well equipped kitchen. Though we did use local pub Seven Tuns twice and food was fabulous. Just a more comfy sofa would make even better. We loved it had some great walks and lovely to have garden to sit out in as we luckily had great weather. Will definitely return. Ideal location

The biscuits and milk left as a treat was a lovely welcome upon arrival. The wood burner was a huge plus as the evenings were pretty cold. The back garden was a real treat. The views from the cottage were wonderful. We enjoyed many walks around the area. The local pub was great and within easy walking distance. The only suggestion that I would have is a small box freezer unit as the fridge does not have any freezer facility, especially as there is no village shop.

The cottage has lovely big rooms full of character. However there is no parking at the cottage and the nearest parking could sometimes be full. The cottage was equipped with everything we needed. However there is only one bedside lamp, and as we both like to read in bed, a lamp on each side would have been appreciated.

The wooden beams and the gorgeous log burner added to the charm of the building. The location was perfect for getting out and about and was close to plenty of walks. There was a great local pub too! If anything, the cottage just needed a bigger, cosy sofa to come back to at the end of a long day exploring. A mini freezer for ice would have also been great! But we loved the cottage overall and would definitely consider returning.

My husband, daughter and I could have spent an entire summer here. I really don't know where to start on relaying how wonderful Brooklands is. The village of Chedworth is picturesque and you can walk the entire town on foot paths that meander throughout the town. There are fresh wild berries and apples everywhere you walk and the neighbors are very friendly. The cottage itself is clean, homey and cozy. I highly recommend Brooklands cottage and I hope to make it back there one day!\

The property

With wonky beams, slopey floors and majestic views across the quintessential English scene, 'Brooklands' is just what you want from a typical Cotswolds cottage.

Tucked within the Ballinger's Row, an historic collection of 17th Century cottages, Brooklands is the charming and perfect 'get away from it all' bolt hole within a truly romantic location.

Not only that, inside the character speaks for itself, spacious rooms presented with antique touches, altogether give this beautiful home a truly cosy feel.

Watch the telly or read a book in front of the fire, or simply do nothing but enjoy the exceptional setting and commanding views over the completely unspoilt Chedworth Valley.

And there is a delightful country pub at the end of your lane too, The Seven Tuns which has opened once again after a number years being refurbished.

Although in the Row, the impression is of complete seclusion and tranquility, having an enclosed mature garden and situated on a narrow lane with scarcely any traffic at all: but cars can deliver (and turn around at the end of the road) and are parked at the end of the lane.

This is an eclectic, manor-style bolt hole just perfect for hiding away from the busy world!

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £50.
