  • "Great place for a family break."

Spacious, with plenty of room for an extended family. Located down a narrow country lane surrounded by fields populated by sheep & horses. Great field opposite to exercise the dog. Painswick has a great pub the Oak which gets busy. The church and churchyard are worth a visit, yew trees are impressive. Barn is a little difficult to find - my sat nav failed to find it. Luckily Nikki came out and found us and led us in. Might be a good idea to have some old fashioned written directions with land marks as the lane is easy to miss. Overall a great place.

We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay and we look forward to welcoming you again soon for another stay with us. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

The property

Highgrove Barn is a charming Cotswold retreat nestled in the idyllic market town of Painswick, Gloucestershire.

Offering sweeping views across this Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it is perfectly situated to enjoy stunning sunsets throughout the year. Brimming with charm and character, Highgrove Barn provides ample off-road parking and welcomes dogs, making it an excellent choice for families and friends looking to explore the Cotswolds together.

The property has a ground-floor bedroom, ideal for guests wishing to avoid stairs to their sleeping accommodation; however, please note that several internal and external steps are required to access different areas of the property and garden, and the property may not be suitable for guests with limited mobility. As you arrive along the charming country track, a breathtaking panorama unfolds before you, stretching beyond the traditional garden to the rolling countryside beyond.

The spacious garden is a wonderful place to relax and dine alfresco, with outdoor furniture, a barbecue, swing seat and hammock.

Please note that whilst the garden is enclosed, guests should supervise pets at all times.

The property is bordered by countryside and grazing livestock can occasionally be present in neighbouring fields.

Public footpaths pass nearby and around parts of the surrounding land. For indoor entertainment, the garage has been converted into a games area featuring table tennis, whilst the boot room offers table football for friendly family competition. The well-equipped kitchen centres around a traditional AGA cooker, which serves as the property's main cooking appliance and remains on continuously throughout the year.

Guests unfamiliar with an AGA may wish to familiarise themselves with its operation prior to arrival.

The dining room is full of character, featuring an impressive inglenook fireplace with an open fire, creating a wonderful setting for gathering together over a meal. The inviting sitting room combines exposed beams, original character features and stunning countryside views.

Relax on the comfortable seating, enjoy a film on the TV, or unwind beside the woodburning stove.

A utility room with a washing machine and tumble dryer adds convenience for longer stays. When it's time to retire for the evening, choose from five beautifully presented bedrooms, including a mix of super-king-size, double and twin rooms, two of which benefit from en-suite facilities.

A separate staircase leads to a private double bedroom, ideal for those seeking additional privacy.

Guests can wake each morning to far-reaching countryside views and make use of the well-appointed family bathroom. The Cotswold Way passes through nearby Painswick, offering an abundance of walking routes through quintessential villages, valleys and picturesque countryside.

Discover the stunning Painswick Rococo Garden, visit the historic St Mary's Church with its famous yew trees, or explore the beautiful Slad Valley, made famous by Laurie Lee's Cider with Rosie.

After a day of exploring, return to Highgrove Barn and create lasting memories with family and friends in this beautiful corner of the Cotswolds.

Note: This property has a Good Housekeeping bond of £550.
