Your every need has been thought of in this well planned cosy home . We spent many evenings sitting by the log burner watching television and we used the large dining table to sit and play board games . There is also a music system if you want to play music . Make the most of the surrounding countryside and many walks on the doorstep of the cottage . There is also a local pub called the George within walking distance . We had a really relaxing holiday and will definitely be back again soon .

  • "The cottage itself was idyllic as were the surrounding views."

However the overall cleanliness of the cottage was not great, we weren't allowed in until 5 and had to leave by 9am on the morning off so that it could be deep cleaned. Not entirely sure what is being cleaned it definitely isn't the downstairs bathroom or bedrooms nor under the couch. The owners were lovely via email before and after our stay but believe they should address the cleaning issue.

  • "Myself and my family had booked the getaway before covid hit."

With having to move the date to a year later due to the pandemic we couldn’t wait to finally go away on our mini break! The picturesque location and beautiful cottage did not disappoint. We booked the cottage to be with the family and the layout of the cottage was amazing. We spent some evenings downstairs in the cozy lounge and kitchen and another evening in the games room. There was space to get away and very sociable spaces for us to be all together at breakfast and dinner. The cleanliness of the cottage was amazing. The cottage has such a cozy feel to it. The pictures don’t do the place justice. There isn’t much around the area but with the cottage and the couple of days we were there we were happy to go for walks and stay in. We walked to the pub down the road one day and had a delicious roast dinner. This was our first break in a long time and it has made us want to go back! We will definitely be booking again! Thank you to the amazing owners who were in contact with us a week before we arrived to answer any questions we had. On another note we travelled with a 1 year old and the travel cot, high hair and stair gate they had made our stay so much easier. Thank you again! We couldn’t have asked for a better break! ☺️ Vicky Lowe and family

The local shop is a 15 minute walk and the local pub is directly opposite. Travelling around by car was easy and considering it was school holidays, the roads were remarkably quiet. The local pub serves really good quality and tasty food at very reasonable prices. The house itself suited our party of 8 adults and 2 dogs perfectly, with plenty of room both indoors and outdoors. Would recommend.

The property has everything you need for a trip away. All kitchen utensils, towels and lining. The views from the upstairs lounge are spectacular! The town of St Briavels is stunning and the meals served at the local pub (The George) are wonderful. The nearby town of Coleford has butchers and a lidl supermarket to pick up supplies. We utilised the garden BBQ and the outdoor area for dining. Lots of beautiful walks near by with easy commutes to local Cotswolds villages and the town of bath. • "We loved the design of the cottage - a beautiful blend of old and new."

There was plenty of space to share, but also a second sitting room for quiet time if needed. Situated as it is, on the edge of an attractive village was perfect for our family and the community was very friendly towards visitors. The owner was very helpful and the caretaker arrived in the morning of our departure to help us to make sure nothing was left behind, and have a friendly chat. The cottage was very cosy in October but the option of the woodburner in colder times looked really inviting too. This is a beautiful part of the British Isles to explore, and a perfect base to return to in the evenings. Highly recommended!

I like the mix of new and old and the owners have done a great job in renovating. The views are lovely from the large upstairs viewing window. Wi-fi was good and having two sitting rooms worked well for us. I’ve dropped two stars because it’s not clean enough, the windows hadn’t been cleaned, nor the cooker extractor, fire still had wood ash in, dead flies on the window sills, the mattresses in the upstairs room were very comfy but the one in the old section needs replacing.

It proved to be the perfect choice for our family get-together as, despite the disappointingly dismal weather, a great time was had by all. The only downside (with having two toddlers to entertain) is that the extremely narrow roads and footpaths in the immediate vicinity are not child friendly, nor is the 10am check out time. Also, given the 4pm check in time, our 3 night stay only equated to 2 full days in real terms.

  • "Lovely cottage with good facilities."

Comfortable for eight adults. Tastefully decorated and the kitchen very well equipped. Felt like a home rather than a holiday rental. A visitors book would be a good idea to write down any comments. We were looking forward to lighting the log burner and searched high and low for matches to no avail!! Had to buy some the next day. (Also, loo roll was in short supply.) We were concerned about our booking with Hideaways as we received no confirmation of payment of the balance or any information about collecting keys, etc which was a bit worrying. We then found that there was a confusion of administration and our booking was cancelled and rebooked for us. Luckily all turned out ok. We spoke to the owner who was very helpful.

The views across the valley are stunning as are the sunsets which can be easily viewed through the panoramic windows. As there were eight of us it was great to have two lounges plus a couched reception area so there was plenty of places to sit and relax. The upstairs lounge with tv, chess and tabletop football kept our teen members busy. There were many beautiful walks just a short drive away as well as local ones. Tesco did a home delivery to The Cottage as well which was great. We loved it and hope to visit again.
