  • "We loved our stay - it worked well for us and presented well."

However, I had phoned beforehand and asked if certain basics were included in the rental. I have owned a holiday home myself for many years, which was rented out, and we always included basics like salt, pepper, washing up liquid, soap, shower gel, loo paper, also some tea, coffee and sugar. I was told to take everything with me, that nothing was provided, only one roll of loo paper per bathroom. However this was not the case, and we were pleasantly surprised to find all of the above items, plus additional things too. So Sykes need to have accurate and better information on their properties to give to their guests. We also asked if we could check in earlier than 5:00pm, as we had a baby with us. We were told not a minute before 5:00 was acceptable. However my son's journey took less time than he had allowed for, and he arrived early at 3:30, to find the cottage empty and ready for occupation - it would have been very helpful to be given this information in advance. A simple phone call to let us know we could check in early would have been an easy thing to do. The cottage itself was charming, however the lighting is a very fiddly to work. We were unable to turn the heating off downstairs, and had to have some of the doors and windows open when when we were there as despite following the instructions for the heating, it never turned off.

Thanks for your feedback and we are delighted you loved your stay. In terms of arrival and check in times, they have been set in the context of Covid - 19 guidelines to protect cleaning staff and guests. That is to say , we are required to leave sufficient time for the cottage to be aired, deep cleaned and for there to be some hours separating arrivals and departures of guests and the cleaning team to ensure the safety and comfort of everyone. We apologise for the miscommunication relating to supply of provisions at April cottage The owners usually provide a good amount of the basics. The heating is controlled by three Hive thermostats downstairs and is in full working order. The house is well insulated downstairs so some guests prefer to turn some of the heating zones off. We hope that you will return again to April cottage in the future. Property Owner

  • "The Bowen Family and our new daughter-in-law to be had a very comfortable time at April Cottage."

The property is delightful and well designed. It is well equipped with nice extras like delicious hand wash. My husband and I were very grateful to find milk in the fridge after a very long journey. It was also great to have basics like oil, s&p, dishwasher tablets etc. We’ve recently stayed in an apartment in Milan where nothing was provided. We had to buy everything! It was also useful to have plenty of glasses, crockery and cutlery. This was very much appreciated as there were five in our party. April Cottage was the perfect stay for a wedding at Mickleton Hills Farm. Thank you for a very enjoyable time.

  • "A lovely cottage full of character and charm."

Very cozy, warm and lots of quality equipment in the Kitchen (missing a veg peeler and spatula though). Bedrooms and bathrooms were well decorated but could do with a mirror in the double room and a bit more storage space for clothes. Great location for walking and for taking our dog out. only a couple of mins walk to either shop and same to go to the pub. We found the Butchers Arms to be best and dog friendly. Stairs are pretty steep and there are some low headroom areas upstairs including the twin bedroom and shower in the bathroom. Loved our week there.

  • "A wonderful cottage in the beautiful village of Mickleton."

My wife and I stayed with my parents visiting from Australia for a week, and we were very impressed by the charm and character of this cottage, offset by the convenience of the underfloor heating, great kitchen and charming fireplace. I wanted to show my parents quintessential England for their one big trip overseas. April Cottage totally nailed this intent!
