  • "This is a wonderful property for a party of 10 with plenty of space and good outside areas to sit and enjoy the views."

We were a little concerned about the steeply terraced garden but the 4 adventurous children in our party, between the ages of 5 and 7, found it very exciting!

  • "Our party of seven were delighted with our stay at Tudor House."

Not only was the space very generous, the facilities were exactly as described and the owner had clearly taken great trouble with the advice for visitors. The property was particularly well placed for places to eat and drink, and the River Wye was a short walk away, whether you wanted a riverside walk, a fery to the pub on the other side or even go canoeing - which we found great fun.

  • "This is a lovely house with fantastic views, a well stocked kitchen and comfortable bedrooms."

The garden is listed in the description as tiered which doesn't quite cover its major unsuitability for younger children. We went with family including 3 grandchildren under 5 and altho they were accompanied by several adults, there were too many hazards for them. Older children or teenagers would be fine with it. The parking and backing off the driveway could be tricky.

Jenny, I am very glad you enjoyed the house, its amenities and the fantastic views. The garden at Tudor has multiple tiers/terraces. As you pointed out, the upper terraces are definitely more suitable for older children. Younger children are best supervised at the lower rose terrace, though this can understandably be tiring if they are particularly adventurous! Finding Parking spaces in Symonds Yat is a bit of a challenge. Tudor is fortunate, indeed blessed, that we can offer off street parking for all our guests' vehicles...rare in the area. Our drive is long and does needs some manoeuvring on entry and exit, which one can get used to fairly quickly. Thank you for your kind review Property Owner

  • "Have just returned after a wonderful week at Tudor House."

We were a mixed group of grandparents, our children, their partners and little ones. The house was lovely and very well equipped and catered to all of us. The children loved all the reading books and having their own lounge. There was very good, informative communication from Shirley, the owner. The surrounding area is lovely and I highly recommend canoeing down the River Wye to get to see some stunning scenery and then a meal at the Olde Ferrie Inn.

Debbie, Sounds like an idyllic and happy week! Glad the reading books were enjoyed and our junior guests had a good time too Property Owner

  • "Lovely house with great views and good location."

Pretty terrace to sit and enjoy the views. The house is beautifully presented and equipped with everything we needed to to cook and eat in, which we did some nights. We also ate out locally at the Ye Old Ferrie Inn and the Old Court Hotel both within walking distance. Good pre holiday contact information with owner Shirley as well as plenty of helpful information and labelling on how everything works at the house itself. Lovely welcome pack of goodies on arrival was very appreciated.

It looks like you did a get a chance to discover the area and enjoy it all! Thank you for your kind words, Alison. We love Tudor and are delighted when great guests like yourselves see its charm too. Property Owner

Ideal for our family get together. A good location with walks from the door, and plenty to do nearby.

Tudor with its many layered grounds and terraces is a great place for an Easter Egg Hunt!! Glad the children enjoyed it! It was a pleasure having you and the family with us and we happy you had a good holiday. Property Owner

  • "Tudor House is a great property for a family reunion and celebration!"

A comfortable house and the owners have anticipated the little extras you might need but forget to bring when self catering eg foil, cling film, seasonings etc. They also thoughtfully sent a generous surprise gift on hearing we were celebrating our golden wedding anniversary! The children (aged 1 to 9yrs) had a wonderful time with all the space in the house and especially playing along the maze of exciting paths in the terraced garden. A lovely area with plenty to do and see. I would highly recommend a stay there.

Maureen, we are so honoured that you chose to celebrate your Golden Wedding anniversary with your family at Tudor, and delighted that it was such a happy and fun time for all! Deeply appreciate your kind and generous comments and we shall endeavour to make everyone’s stay the best , as much as we can. Thank you too for being such wonderful guests Property Owner

The house was decorated beautifully and was even better in real life than the pictures show. It is an extremely spacious property perfect for family groups. All the furnishings were excellent, the kids especially loved having their own lounge. The kitchen was kitted out with everything we needed. The attention to detail from the owner was very touching. I mentioned when booking that a number of our party were coeliac and when we arrived there was a extremely generous hamper with lots of gluten free goodies in. There was also a lovely surprise cupboard with everything we needed for Xmas day (crackers, napkins, table runner etc....). There is so much to do in the area but even if you stay inside the views from the property are breathtaking! Property was very spacious and comfortable, with plenty of room for two families with five children in total to all have our own space as well as lots of communal space to be together as well. My only slight negative was the cooker was small for such a large house, but we managed and the Indian take away in Whitchurch was excellent!

  • "The house was situated in a great location along the River Wye with far-reaching and beautiful views from the pergola area in the garden as well as from all front-facing windows."

The beautiful hydrangeas were a lovely sight from a couple of rooms with rear facing windows. Cushions provided made the pergola area really comfortable and this was a very well used area for everyone. There were lots of activities nearby - we could walk to hire canoes to paddle along the river as well as visit the Butterfly House and the Amazing Maze - again, within walking distance. Really good ice-cream outside the Butterfly House - very big portions! The house itself was a great size for our extended family of 10 - we loved sitting around the dining table all together for meals and the larger lounge provided plenty of room / seating for us to gather in the evening. The reclining seating in the snug was much appreciated by a few of us - so relaxing to sit there. The house was beautifully clean and it we all appreciated having en-suite bathrooms as well as very comfortable beds. Additional touches such as large umbrellas provided (luckily only needed on one occasion), shower gels and shampoos, as well as a lovely 'Welcome Basket' with some tasty goodies and milk were much appreciated. There were short and long walks from the house and the owners provided detailed descriptions of these for us so we could take our pick. We particularly enjoyed walking down to Ye Old Ferrie Inn and along the river to cross a bridge to the other side of the river for a sunny afternoon drink at the pub there. Woods of Whitchurch was frequented by some of us - their lunch menu was lovely and their coffee was very good. It was easy to reach nearby supermarkets in Monmouth - about a 10/15 minute drive (lovely High street there). We also drove out to Goodrich Castle, Yat Rock, some lovely woodland with a little waterfall and Tintern (walk along the river) and there's definitely plenty more to do next time we visit. Thank you very much to the owners for all the detailed information which helped us plan our time there as well as their attention to detail in the house itself. We would certainly consider returning to this lovely house.
