  • "This is a fab place to stay."

Quiet and great location within the Cotswold's. Beautiful places to walk. We will definitely stay again when back. Thanks so much for this.

  • "Lovely cottage in a lovely setting."

Good communication from owner and very helpful. The cottage is very cosy and welcoming and we really enjoyed our week here. The bedrooms are lovely particularly the double bedroom which was a lovely place to retire for a comfortable nights sleep. The whole atmosphere of the cottage is great and the location is perfect for visiting most of the popular Cotswold towns. The garden is interesting although we didn't really use it but adds to the beauty of the property. We would recommend this property and we would certainly be happy to stay here again.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Court Hayes. It sounds like you had a wonderful stay at the house and thank you for the feedback. We would love to welcome you back again in the future. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

  • "The cottage is as described and was very clean when we arrived however not as comfortable as you would imagine from looking at the photographs."

Firstly the front room is very cold and has too small radiator for it's size which is badly positioned right next to the staircase, which means all heat traveling upstairs rather then into the room. Yes there is an open fire but because of it's nature it only looks pretty and we were surprised how little warmth it gave as you can not control the speed at which it burns and all heat escapes quickly up the chimney. A log burner here would be much more efficient move in that sense and also easier to get going (I had to buy several kindling packs because the wood outside was too wet to take) Second serious issue was the lack of overhead lighting or any good lighting in the sitting room - the only place to read a book was the bedroom which also lacked overhead lighting but had good side table lamps instead. Dinning room was much cosier in the winter and had a good log burner - I couldn't get my head around why this isn't used as a sitting room instead? There is much more light in there, really good heating and it faces the garden. It also has a lovely wooden floor which is way warmer then stone floor in the front room. Kitchen was well equipped but SOOOO COLD we didn't want to spend much time in there cooking at all. There is no central heating in the kitchen and with temperatures of -3 that weekend it was painful to get up in the morning and try to make a breakfast. Moving upstairs bedrooms are good. Bathroom with the bath tub is great and actually very warm so no complaints her

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear of the issues you experienced. We have passed your comments onto the owner. We hope that you enjoyed exploring the beautiful Cotswolds. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Poor lighting."

General house keeping poor.Radiator in the lounge did not get warm. Open fire poor for burning wood. The kitchen was well equipped and well lit although there was a problem with the cooker ( we did leave a note in this respect). The 'on suite' to the double bedroom was up a flight of stairs that were potentially dangerous. The shower over the bath was not a fixture and water did not come out of the taps only the shower head and the water was scalding hot. Potentially a nice building but needs some attention. Bedrooms were ok and comfortable . Sorry but this was the worst cottage we have experienced for a very long time and we holiday 2/ 3 times a year.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Court Hayes. We can only apologise if the property wasn't up to our usual high standards and we have taken all your feedback on board and will pass on your comments to the Owner for review/action. May i ask, did you get in touch with the Owner at any point during your stay, to enable them to rectify any of these issues for you?. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

The kitchen is well equipped and great for self catering and the beds are comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and all agreed that we want to return and stay longer next time. Wyke Rissington is a great area to stay to explore the Cotswolds and Court Hayes was perfect for our visit.

  • "It is a pretty cottage in lovely village."

The interior is pretty too, however there are low beams and I banged my head several times, until I learnt to walk bent over. I am a little less than 6 foot tall. The advert states that the en-suite to the double bedroom is in the roof and is accessed by narrow stairs. These stairs are not particularly narrow but are steep, More important is the lack of headroom at the top of the stairs varying from about 1 foot to a maximum of 4 foot. This made going down the stairs difficult. It would be dangerous for me to go up there half asleep in the middle of the night so we were forced to sleep in the twin beds in the other bedroom. The maintenance of the property was a little lacking. Two of the rope banisters are coming away from the wall. Some of the doors don't fit properly. Most of the bathroom taps need new washers. The rear part of the garden is very overgrown.

The main bathroom was looking a bit tired with dirty corners and dusty paper plants . Nice cottage sadly let down by the poor state of the patio and garden area. Please repair cracked slabs etc and much weeding required, it all looked scruffy outside.

Many thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. The bathroom and plant has been given an extra clean and the cracks in the patio slabs, which appears to have been recent damage, has now been fixed too. We're pleased that you found the cottage comfortable overall and hope you enjoyed your holiday. Best wishes, Character Cottages Property Owner

Wifi was hit and miss. Kitchen very well equipped. Garden furniture needs a clean and paint as too mucky to sit on. No chair in bedroom as stated on website. No wardrobes just a few coat hangers. Very quiet area and unable to walk to the town as single unsafe road with no footpath. Very comfortable beds. Towels provided tiny. Having said that, location good to visit the nearby places.

Many thanks for sharing your feedback which we will look into with the owner and their property manager. We had a car and were able to reach nearby towns. The only recommendation I would make is to connect with Cox Cars or taxis in Kingham (I may have the name wrong). David was very kind and a welcome change from the first driver we secured who charged us exorbitant sums. It was very hard to book a taxi to Wyk Rissington at night. Otherwise, it was such a lovely stay!

Thank you for your fabulous feedback, It's always lovely to get tips from guests!. We hope you managed to enjoy the many lovely things the Cotswold has to offer and that you also return in the future. Property Owner

Comfortable beds. Appreciated the brand new mattresses and bed frame in double room which addressed feedback from some previous visitors. Wifi was good and there was plenty of hot water with good pressure. Shower in twin room is described as 'walk in', but is literally a cupboard as is the toilet. Lounge is dark, but rest of cottage is light and airy. A couple of improvements - a chair in twin bedroom would be useful and outside could do with a new lick of paint. Overall a very nice character cottage in a good location.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Court Hayes. It's wonderful to hear you enjoyed your stay with us so much and we hope you managed to enjoy the sites. • "We stayed in the cottage for 3 nights."

Cottage has one double bedroom and one twin.there is a bathroom with bath tub above double bedroom and shower in a cupboard in twin one. Kitchen is well equipped looking onto garden. WiFi works only in dining room and there is phone reception. It didn't bother us but just noting for others in case it's important. Location wise,it's a quiet village ( no shop, pub etc.) Nearest pub is 10min drive away. Unfortunately the biggest drawback of the Cottage are the beds,The mattresses are not from this century,I didn't expect any one still making such thing. It wasn't possible to sleep on them and we ended up piling up douvets and spare pillows and sleeping on the floor. If you think it can't be that bed and will try to book it,just don't.it was money wasted in our case.those beds are really torture devices not meant for sleeping on. We had an issue with cold water not being supplied to the bath(only hot) so it wasn't possible to take a bath unless you waited all day for the hot water to cool down.we contacted the property manager who was to investigate but heard nothing after that so issue remained unresolved. The shower in the twin bedroom is only a trickle so not really possible to wash off shampoo properly but also collects so much water that doesn't drain that you have to stop running the water, wait for it to drain then run it again.looong process. The check in is at 4pm and not possible to arrange earlier as stated on the website, check out is at 10am and info in the cottage states that cleaners arrive at 10.15 so guests must be out by then.key is left is the lock box so there is no one actually giving the key not sure why the early check in is not possible because despite the cottage being clean it had a bit of dust here and there but for sure wasn't being cleaned for 6hours straight that prevented the earlier check in. All in all the cottage looks nice on paper and would be OK for 1 night stay but any longer means back issues and greasy hair.loved the location and will be going back but sadly not to this cottage unless mattreses and water issues are sorted.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback and we're glad you enjoyed the location. We're sorry that some issues impacted your stay and would like to respond as follows.. When the problem with the shower was notified to us, it was too late to rectify on a Sunday evening, but a plumber did attend the following morning. The issue with the boiler was fixed and the shower worked perfectly. When early check-ins or later departures are requested, we always try to accommodate our guests when the schedule permits – most often we are able to facilitate earlier arrivals and let the guests know when the property is ready early. Unfortunately, we were not contacted about a request for an early check in on this occasion. Regarding the mattresses, we are sorry for this inconvenience but new ones were ordered several weeks ago - after a long wait we are assured they will be delivered next week.We try really hard to ensure our guests have an enjoyable stay at our property but, if we don’t know about an issue in good time, it is difficult to provide solutions for that guest, or those following. We do hope we can welcome you again in the future. Property Owner

  • "On first impressions the cottage was lovely."

Quiet location and beautiful cottage. Struggled the first night to get any WiFi connection (subsequently realised we could get it in kitchen, living room and bedroom above. The front half of the house was dead. The heating WiFi connection kept dropping out so that was difficult to control. The fire was impossible to keep going as only large logs and firelighters were supplied, it really needed paper and kindling to get the logs going. The cooker failed (lower right ring tripped the fuse) so think that needs a service and the water pressure throughout the cottage was more like a dribble. However, like previous reviews on this accommodation, the worst thing is the beds. These are probably the lumpiest, uncomfortable beds I've ever slept in, and you can feel almost every spring. Overall, this is a lovely cottage, very clean and tidy. It just needs a bit of tlc to bring it up to scratch, especially the mattresses.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Court Hayes. We take all feedback on board and will review the wifi connection with the owner. It may be that a boost box will needed, but we will speak to the owner about this, if this happens again with future guests. With regards to the fire, most owner provide starter packs which consist of kindling, logs and fire lighters. But all packs to vary. I don't believe we provide newspaper for the fire, but this es easily available to purchase locally. We will pass on your comments about the beds and get the owner to review all points raised. We hope you had a lovely stay otherwise and that you enjoyed the Cotswolds. Property Owner

Lovely and spacious, can see it being perfect for 4 people which is amazing. Garden is well done lots of space and a great asset for the summer. Great walks right on the door-step which was just what we wanted. Quaint little village, would recommend this cottage again. Only down side was the beds in both rooms which was sad. If it had better beds we would 100% come back but sadly we are in our mid 20s one of us was in so much pain after the first night we had to move to the twin room. would love to of seen a bigger bed in that room on a sturdier bed frame as the metal one is just not suitable. There is no reason why a bigger one shouldn’t fit in. Just didn’t really feel like you were getting your moneys worth with bedrooms. Two single beds the mattresses felt old and the springs have gone. If you were staying longer I would struggle to see where people would put all of their clothes as neither rooms have substantial wardrobe space. By this we mean none at all just a few coat hangers on the wall. Again, the rooms are a great size so why not! It’s just lacking a bit of home touches in bedrooms. I would like the owners to go and stay there and see what they think as we always believe that’s the best way to get a feel of their own holiday cottage. Other than that we did enjoy our stay just rooms let it down.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Court Hayes. We do value all feedback provided by our guests and we will pass on your comments to the Housekeeper/Owner to review. We hope you will come again, so we can show you are attention to detail and high standards. Property Owner

Its location, just opposite the church at Wyck Rissington couldn't be better, with freely available parking on the kerb opposite the house. Wyck Rissington itself is the quietest and, in many ways, the most authentic of Cotswolds hamlets, a rarely found 'off the beaten track' kind of place. We have stayed at multiple places and this one is definitely at the top as one of our favourites! Every room has such charm - the stone walls, the black beams, the lamps with dimming switches, the artwork... everything! Our daughters loved their room with the vaulted ceiling and my husband and I enjoyed the master suite. We loved our dinners in the dining area and our breakfasts in the private garden! The location is so wonderful for a visit to the Cotswold. We had no idea how much we'd enjoy this area and how close we would be to so many of the towns! And then to return to the very quiet and quaint village of Wyck Rissington, away from all tourists, and go for evening walks was so peaceful. We hope to return to this wonderful place!

The property was an incredible find, placed in a tiny village yet very close to a very nice larger town (Bourton-On-The-Water) where my wife loved to shop. My 18 year old daughter, who is fairly well traveled for her age (20 or so countries) declared it to be the best place she has ever stayed at, anywhere. I enjoyed quiet time in the garden, and the whole family was able to walk the nearby footpath (literally across the street) and get a feel for rural England. Would definitely recommend!
