  • "Lovely location."

Lovely cottage and neighbours who made a fuss over my dog. Alex is a brilliant point of contact and very helpful especially when dealing with the actual location of the cottage. Driving around rural anywhere looking for a cottage in the dark and wrong place is not much fun. Come on Sykes, sort your map and directions out. From the west you need to look out for the next turning on the right "Docklow Manor" after the King's Head PH. 200 yards.

Dear David, Thank you for your feedback. I am so sorry the directions were misleading and I have informed Sykes to update the details. Yes, Alex is absolutely brilliant, and I am glad you found the cottage and location lovely. I hope you are able to stay again. Best wishes, Huw Property Owner

  • "A very beautiful place and very very very quiet."

The sofa and cushions were damp I had to put them outside in the sun so if something could be done about that in the future. And the blinds on the upstairs windows shade a lot of light. Apart from that I would definitely come again

Dear Gregory, Thank you for your feedback! I have asked the property management team to look into the cushions and get the blinds fixed. That should be happening very soon. So glad you found the place beautiful and enjoyed the peace and quiet. Best wishes, Huw Property Owner

  • "Sadly it was all that was available at last minute."

Furniture uncomfortable,no tv,dated inside.Nosey neighbour.nice view in back garden.Pub over the road is excellent, highly recommend it.

Dear Brett, Thank you for taking the time to send feedback. I am very happy you enjoyed the garden view. I sometimes sit out there for hours! And I am also pleased you loved the pub...another place I can sit for hours :) My sincere apologies you did not find the furniture comfortable. I myself have never been uncomfortable there but I shall look into it straightaway. I also like the cottage to be an escape from the modern world hence the dated interior and no television (but I do make it clear on the website that there is no TV to ensure guests do not arrive with the expectation that there is one). My neighbours are very friendly. I am certain there would be no intention to be nosey but again my apologies if you found this. I hope you were able to enjoy some of your stay in Yew Tree, and even though I sense you may not want to visit again, you are more than welcome. Best wishes, Huw Property Owner

  • "Well equipped and peaceful cottage in rural setting with friendly neighbours."

Comfortably furnished and well supplied with all the basics from loo roll, washing up liquid and kitchen towels to seasonings and condiments. The downstairs room is cosy with a log burner. There’s not a lot of room to manoeuvre, particularly if your dog, like ours, is flat out on the rug in precisely the spot you plan to step in next, but it’s fine. Upstairs is lighter and more spacious. The courtyard garden is a pleasant spot for breakfast or evening drinks, though next door’s yew hedge does throw it into shade by evening. One of the reasons we chose it was the close proximity of a pub which you can see from the driveway. In the end, we took the owner’s advice and drove there as the fast A road traffic and no footpath is not friendly to walking. The pub does food all day 364 days a year and has a pleasant outdoor space for drinks on a sunny evening with views over the valley. Docklow is set between Bromyard and Leominster, a very convenient location for the black and white village trail and a host of market towns and spas from Ludlow to Malvern and the Wye Valley, plus easy access to Hereford and Worcester. Less than a mile away the fishing lakes of Docklow Pools offer a woodland setting with indoor and outdoor seating at the Fishermen’s Arms pub and cafe.

Dear Madeleine, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such detailed and comprehensive feedback. I am very glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you didn't trip over your dog too much! You are absolutely correct that there is not too much room to manoeuvre but it is cosy in winter times. I love the pub but it is frustrating that it is easier to drive there than walk. I live in hope that the council will forge a decent path along the side of the road. I'm pleased you visited the local towns and villages and enjoyed what stunning Herefordshire has to offer. I hope you get to visit again. Best wishes, Huw Property Owner

  • "The cottage is lovely and wonderful, and I would happily stay there again."

It is well kept, and cozy (given a dump of snow while I was there). But I would not book through Sykescottages which inundates you with totally unnecessary endless emails before and after.

Dear John, I am really pleased that you enjoyed your holiday and that you got some snow! Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review and I hope you come to stay at some point in the future. Best wishes, Huw Property Owner

  • "Such a great stay at your beautiful cottage Huw."

Loved everything about it! So relaxing and peaceful and all the neighbours were so friendly. Really enjoyed sitting in the recliner by the fire reading whilst listening to the birds in the bushes outside. Loved your ‘Welcome’ note with the bit about you living in Africa and Egypt and the many touches from this time in the cottage. A real home from home! Thank you

Dear Jan, Thank you so much for your lovely comments. I am thrilled and touched you had such a lovely time at Yew Tree! It means a lot that you love it as much as I do! I hope you stay again. Best wishes, Huw Property Owner
