We appreciated the welcome pack from Pete and Paula. Pete was waiting for us on arrival and let us know they would be available if we had any problems, which we didn't. The hot tub was lovely and warm after the first night and the kitchen cupboards provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were glad that Pete warned us of the muddy conditions on the local footpaths and so we chose to go further afield for our walks. We would recommend the property to anyone who wants a comfortable cottage holiday in a lovely part of the country. Thanks to Pete and Paula for making the Pig Shed - Sty 2 such a lovely home from home.

The hot tub I think was to full because there were no bubbles, the jets were not powerful as if blocked? The following day when we came to use the tub it was full of scum and bits!, it had not been cleaned like it said it would Caroline

Thank you for your feed back. We did come down and meet two of your party who arrived early to the property. The hot tub was cleaned during your visit whilst you were out and it was fully working. If you had any concerns about the hot tub we would have happily addressed them and shown you how to operate it and turn the jets up ect. We hope you enjoyed your stay despite the high winds Property Owner

The pig shed was immaculate, vey clean and very nicely decorated to a modern look. The beds were excellent, and showers were good too. The views out the fenced off garden were very nice indeed. We loved the hot tub . When we arrived the owner left us some fresh eggs and milk and had a jar of treats for the dogs , that was a very nice gesture. The only little thing that I thought could be improved would be some more comfortable garden furniture to sit out on while watching the sunset . We all enjoyed our short stay, very peaceful and beautiful location and accommodation. I would recommend to anyone looking for a few relaxing days away .

The property had picturesque views all around over rolling country side. We throughly enjoyed the peace and tranquility of the surrounding area which was needed for our weeks stay. The property had all the amenities in it that we required for our stay. The beds were lovely and comfortable, felt like we were in a luxury hotel and the two showers were very spacious. We had a small issue with the hot tub but Peter soon came out and the issue was resolved straight away he couldn’t of been more helpful.. Would highly recommend anyone to stay at the pig shed.

Fully equipped kitchen with plenty of storage, comfortable roomy beds (high hotel style), nice showers, lovely sofas and the added bonus of a hot tub with amazing views. We could quite easily live there, a perfect rural retreat. The owners Peter & Paula are very friendly and so are the locals. There are public footpaths/bridleways close to the property and plenty of places to visit by car in the area. Really enjoyed Ludlow, a historic town with a castle

  • "First of all, the holiday cottage was 5 STAR and couldn't fault the accommodation."

Frankly although the cottage was beautiful and also the area we didn't find it good for dog walking, walking on the roads to access areas where we could exercise the dog could be dangerous. I certainly had to keep my wits about me with blind bends and cars travelling too fast for the conditions. Most of the surrounding fields contained sheep, I found access/right of way blocked off and I couldn't get over the style myself, never mind having a dog? This location is more suited for ramblers I'd say. One observation, I'd let anyone booking with Sykes cottages know about £68.00 booking fee up front. This wasn't mentioned until I was confirming to booking. The location, Tenbury was our saving grace finally somewhere we could let the dog off the lead as he's trained. Finally thank you to Peter and Paula, beautiful cottage, very comfortable.

Thank you for your review and it was a pleasure to meet you and your lovely dog Taff. Property Owner

Great area to stay and we hope to be back to explore some more. The condition of the property was lovely and some nice touches throughout making it a very homely stay. Beds were comfy and everything you need to have a relaxing time is provided. Only small issue we had was the security light was on and off all night which would shine in the front bedroom window (we put a blanket over the window which helped). There were dog towels and blankets supplied on arrival which was also a nice bonus. Hot tub was very clean and hot on arrival and the views were great from the garden area. Good showers also in the property. The owner was friendly and introduced herself when we arrived. Highly recommended and it is certainly a hidden gem in the Worcestershire countryside.

  • "Hi Unfortunately we had to leave on Tuesday as the accomodation proved unsuitable for my mom who is partially diasabled."

She found it very difficult to get up from the sofas as they were very low down and even more difficult to get in and out of the beds as they are extremely high up! myself and my sister also struggled to get onto the beds, I have never has this problem before! The point of requesting a Barn was so that we had no stairs etc to negotiate, but never in a million years would have thought about the height of the beds. I spoke to Paula on our departure who just said they were hotel quality beds and couldnt do anything about them and if we had asked she could have provided a step! this I thought was very unfair as had my mom used it and it slipped then we could potentially had been looking at a broken hip. I think this needs to be addressed in the details to avoid this happening to anyone else and spoiling their holiday as well.

I offered you a step and discussed this with you and we agreed that it wouldn’t be safe for your mum. I could have given you more cushions for the sofa to raise the height. We have now added to our property details that property not suitable for disabled people. Thank you for your review Property Owner

  • "Pig Sty 2 Feb 10th -17th Location – wonderful views across the Teme Valley – we had some glorious sunsets."

The living space is generous with very comfortable beds, although they were excessively high and the very efficient castors caused us some problems. The large showers were good yet due to the high step a handle to help enter and leave them, would have been useful. The kitchen is well equipped with adequate utensils and a very generous selection of glassware. Our booking was for 7 nights and after 4 nights we asked for fresh towels. No was the reply! We were disappointed by this as other places we have stayed have made this possible or there has been laundry facilities available for us to refresh them ourselves. The spa was most enjoyable however we were unaware of any daily maintenance being carried out even when we were there all day.

We have to maintain the hot tub as per health and safety rules and do state in our welcome email that the hot tub will be maintained on a daily basis. We are sorry if this disturbed you in anyway but it is a legal requirement. Unfortunately we couldn’t supply you with fresh towels part way through your stay as the spare sets were with the laundry as the norm is one set per weekly booking. Our property is not advised as suitable for people who are perhaps less able and a phone call prior to booking we would have been able to clarify that the the showers aren’t floor level and there is a shower tray as the property has under floor heating making a floor level shower tray an impossibility. We are sorry the beds were too high they are hotel standard/ quality beds. If they didn’t have castors they couldn’t have been moved and split into single beds as per your requirements. I can only apologise that the property wasn’t totally suitable for your specific needs. Property Owner

We did try to go out for dinner on the Saturday evening with the dog but unfortunately most places were booked, so I would suggest planning ahead and booking for weekend dinners or Sunday lunches. Lovely cabin and absolutely beautiful location! It is remote, but that's the reason we wanted to go there. (Do your research rather than moaning about something you failed to notice). The property was very clean on arrival, no complaints. The welcome hamper was a nice touch and it was good that disherwasher tablets, cloths and tea towels were left. Good sized fridge with a small freezer compartment too. The living kitchen area is a really good size and furniture could be moved around easily to make more space. The log burner was lovely and really easy to get a fire started. The only thing we really didn't like were the mattresses, both beds were uncomfortable but the room without the en suite really needs replacing ASAP. Also, the garden is a lot smaller than it looks in the picture, but this was fine because of the amount of fields and country lanes nearby to walk the dog. I didn't realise the property is a semi detached on booking, luckily we didn't hear much from next door other than a few barks from their dog. The garden could be more private for the hot tub side, if next door were in their garden they would be staring right at you, lucky for us we barely saw the other occupants. We enjoyed a well needed few days away, thanks

  • "We stayed at this property during August 2021 and must admit we were rather disappointed."

The interior of the property was very nice, however the outside space was very small, not at all what the pictures suggested as there was wire fencing immediately behind the hot tub, rendering the outdoor space very tiny. Also the partition between the two holiday lets was poor and very impersonal! It was pointed out by our next door hosts that we could have used the owners personal gardens, however this was not fully explained to us. When we stayed here we took our well behaved dog, unfortunately we left him in the property after our arrival (as we needed to go grocery shopping as the property is self catering and we had driven 4 hours), but within 10 minutes of leaving the property I received a very curt text from the owner telling me to immediately return to the property as I had broken the terms and conditions of our holiday rental - sadly something which I have never experienced before when staying in numerous properties with a dog. Please note that owners check the hot tub daily between 11am-1pm, which I personally found extremely intrusive - and this was not mentioned on the instructions when booking. The owners also shut the gates to the parking area (immediately infront of the property) by 8pm. Sadly my experience of this property poor and not as listed, we so I left early. Sadly we did not enjoy my stay at this property at all and would not return. Very disappointing!

However when we went to get into the hot tub it was not up to temperature so we had gone out for dinner to the Pembrooke which was more than we could have asked for! It was Delicious and beautiful!! However the hot tub has taken till 6am the next morning however from then it was lovely! However we were compensated by this and received a later check out time which was a very kind gesture. Negatives, -we did take a couple of our own towels which we are glad about as we had one big Towel and a small towel each for the duration of our stay. -no throws were provided to protect the sofas from dog hairs which i found strange as it’s a dog friendly property, luckily we packed our own throws. -in the photos the garden looked so much bigger which was great as we took our dog with us however when we arrived the garden had been sectioned off and a small section was allocated for our lodge, I believe it looked like herbs and vegetation was being grown the other side of the chicken wire however on a POSITIVE note the lovely couple who owned the property allowed me to walk my dog in their paddock the other side of their house. About the location

TENBURY WELLS

Ludlow 10 miles; Worcester 17 miles; Hereford 22 miles.
