  • "Lovely, cosy cottage."

Perfect for 3. Beautifully presented and very clean. Plenty of hot water and an excellent shower. We loved the location. We couldn’t find the pub in walking distance but that didn’t detract from our stay. There wasn’t storage space for food except in the fridge but again that didn’t cause an issue we just used the large window sill. Would recommend if you like a quite spot and village atmosphere. Pretty little garden for sitting out.

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are pleased you had a comfortable stay and enjoyed the garden and location. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

There was also some grounds of coffee left in the coffee pot and some of the plates en cutlery we found in the cupboard en drawers were dirty. The towels and bedding were clean, however. We would advise to also keep some dish cloths and a scouring pad in the kitchen as these seemed to be missing. Nevertheless, we had a very enjoyable stay in Honeysuckle cottage

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Honeysuckle Cottage. I'm sorry to hear you arrived to this, these standards are not good enough and do not meet our high standards. Can i ask, did you get in touch with us to send another Housekeeper around to sort this out for you?. I will pass this onto the Housekeeping Manager to review with the Housekeeper. I hope you still had an enjoyable stay with us. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful traditional Cotswold country cottage!"

We were two adults and a dog (staying for two nights) and felt the property was a perfect size. The garden and terrace at the back was a good size too - it was enclosed and safe. The cottage was very well equipped and had everything we needed, in addition to extra things like blankets, milk in the fridge, biscuits/tea/coffee, plenty of towels and lovely bed linen. Everything had been well thought out…a real home from home experience! Cottage was easy to find and was situated as described across the village green with a handful of other properties. The cottage was spotlessly clean! The only thing to be aware of, is the driveway at the front of the property is much steeper than it looks so take it very slowly when driving on/off the designated parking bay. We would definitely recommend this property and would consider returning on future trips to the Cotswold area.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your stay. It's great to hear that you enjoyed your time away and took full advantage of this beautiful property! We hope to welcome you again one day in the future! Best wishes, Character Cottages. Property Owner

  • "It was a lovely stay."

Although only a few minor problems The next door neighbours kept leaving the gates open so we was a little anxious with our dog. He’s on the bigger side so we just had to make sure we assisted him to the inclosed area. The bugs are inevitable with being in the country but we got seriously bitten during our sleeps. They was just everywhere. We did our best by keeping the rollers down and lights off but there was just so many. :-( The windows was open we we arrived but understandably as the weather was very warm. Again this isn’t a negative on the property because it was just lovely and so clean. What a beautiful area also. Information like they provide tea coffee and milk would have been helpful and saved us money. Very lovely idea to provide crisps and biscuits. Thank you :)

Thank you for taking the time to share your lovely feedback. We're pleased that overall you had a lovely time at Honeysuckle Cottage. Access via the gate is something we highlight on the website to make people aware that young children and dogs will need to be supervised. We hope the summer bugs were not too much of an issue and that you will return again. Best wishes, Character Cottages. Property Owner

Garden and house were beautifully kept. Drive is a tad awkward to get in and out but we managed. Kitchen has great facilities, washing machine was really handy and laundry pods and dishwasher tablets are all provided! Even had tin foil for making our packed lunches. Bath was so wonderful after a long day out it was relaxing to come back to. Also ideal for our 17 month old as he loved investigating the taps and shower. Thank you so much for our stay, we had a lovely time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

  • "There’s clearly a rodent problem in the eves of this property, constant scratching all night."

The double bed was comfortable but the 2 singles pushed together need updating. The cleaning had been done to an excellent standard. I would never book through Sykes again however, the systems they use are completely impenetrable to speak to anyone in customer services and when you do their attitude is very ‘anti the customer’. The idea that you can’t cancel a booking once it’s made is archaic. Even Airbnb allow you to change or rebook dates without the extortionate charges Sykes make.

  • "Overall the cottage stay was excellent."

There were a few issues that I brought up in an email but I shall reiterate: 1. The beds are very uncomfortable and should be replaced. 2. The shower stall is very leaky and water always ends up on the floor (had to use towels to soak up/prevent water from pooling) 3. Ventilation overall is poor. The kitchen smells of oil, the shower room has black mold on the walls, bathroom fans are inadequate. 4. The maintenance of the property is sub-standard. Window hardware was failing, bathroom fixtures were loose. 5. We could hear pests in the attic. Sounded like mice/rats scurrying around at night above us in the bedroom. 6. Having a single clothes washer in the cottage with no way to dry clothes is a bit silly. The unit should be replaced with one that can both wash and dry, or maybe provide an outdoor clothes line. The location of the cottage is amazing and this could easily be a five star experience if some of this information is acted upon. Comfortable beds being the #1 priority in my mind. Having two beds that get shoved together in the main bedroom makes no sense. There is a crease between the beds that is very uncomfortable, the beds themselves are of a very low quality and caused a lot of back pain and sleeping discomfort. There should be a single queen or king bed in that room, one of very high quality. The smell of oil in the kitchen is very unwelcome and some sort of exhaust fan should be added to help move those smells outdoors.

Thank you for providing this comprehensive feedback. We're glad you enjoyed your stay. We appreciate your honesty on issues you encountered and hope these did not impact on your holiday. We can confirm that we will be ordering a replacement kingsize bed in the near future and that the boiler is in the process of being replaced which we believe to be the cause of the smell of oil. As often happens in older cottages in the countryside, mice do appear in loft spaces and, following an inspection, a pest control company have addressed this situation. We can also confirm that maintenance have repaired the shower and a replacement clothes airer has been purchased. Thank you for bringing these matters to our attention and for your recommendations which have been given full consideration. Best wishes Character Cottages Property Owner

Lots of public footpaths in the area and great for dog walking. There are still some cleaning issues with the property, lots of cobwebs and sticky surfaces. I had to clean the shower head as it was very mouldy and the jets were clogged up. ( Could do with a cupboard to store your food) Honeysuckle Cottage is a great place to stay and explore the local area. Dog owners please note that neighbours have access through the garden and you can't just let the dog out or leave the back door open for them, as you have to cross the path to get into the secure garden. Don't let a few cobwebs deter you from staying here, it is lovely.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments on Honeysuckle Cottage. We are sorry to hear there were come cleanliness issues, this has been raised with housekeeping. We are pleased you had a great stay and were able to explore the local area. Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "Nice cosy cottage."

The beds are very comfortable. It’s not huge, two adults, two teens and a dog really filled the place but it has enough chairs and dining space for everyone. Parking is right outside for one car and the cottage is opposite a green. The Garden is lovely and has a nice swing seat and patio furniture for 4 people. Towels were provided on the bed for your use while staying which was nice. Hairdryer, iron and foldable ironing board are also provided. The fridge is a small under-counter fridge with a tiny ice box for freezer items so don’t buy a lot of frozen food is my one tip, a bag of ice would fill the whole thing. We were left a pint of milk in the fridge but no welcome hamper of any sort left as described in previous reviews. The cleaning of the cottage wasn’t great. Lots of dust, spider webs with a lot of dead spiders scattered everywhere. I don’t mind a spider but dead ones need to be removed. All the surfaces including bannisters just felt sticky. I gave the whole place a good wipe-down of antibacterial wipes when I arrived. A few cooking utensils had old food still had on them so a few things needed a wash. Not a massive deal. The garden had old dog poo scattered about which needed picking up. The shared path that runs outside the back doors is fine, nice neighbours. If you have a reactive dog like ours then you may get a lot of barking when people are going back and forth which they do a lot. No way of just keeping the back door open and letting dogs/kids run in and out as the pathway leads out the front and to the road if someone leaves the side gate open…. It is a nice place and if they sorted the cleaning side of things it would have been perfect. You can’t check in till 5pm but have to be out by 10am. 7 hours is a lot of time between guests for it not to be spotless.

Thank you for your constructive review of Honeysuckle Cottage. We are sorry to hear of the cleanliness issues you have raised and we can only apologise on behalf of our housekeeping team. A deep clean has taken place since your stay to address the issues once again. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. With best wishes Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "The property was absolutely filthy."

I can’t upload photos here but I do have some. We didn’t raise this with Sykes at the time as it’s not ideal to have a cleaner there while we’re trying to relax. It also wouldn’t be ideal to have a stranger in the house while we were out as it would have been impossible to have taken all of our personal effects with us. When we did raise it with Sykes, they were quite rude. I won’t be commenting on other aspects as cleanliness is fundamental whether you’re paying £30 per night or £200 and this has completely ruined our experience.

Many thanks for your feedback on Honeysuckle Cottage. We can only apologise for the cleanliness issues you experienced during your stay. We always ask that we have a chance to rectify any issues to ensure a guests stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We do appreciate it should be perfect on arrival and we are looking in to the reasons for this to ensure this does not happen again in the future. Character Cottages. Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful stay at Honeysuckle Cottage."

The kitchen was well equipped and the welcome hamper was definitely a winner. The living room was comfortable and bright, the garden was beautiful and upstairs the bathroom and shower rooms were lovely. Our bed was comfortable and the area surrounding the cottage was just beautiful. Our only complaint was regarding the travel cot. We had requested this to be set up for us, but it was not. Not the end of the world as it was left under the bed so we were able to do it, however we noticed a couple of the bars underneath we're damaged. Again, once the mattress was on it, it wasn't too bad (but may be worth looking at if it gets worse). The big issue came when setting it up. I agree with a previous comment, there is no space to set it up! We had to move the beds away from the wall in order to fit it in the main room, meaning me and my husband were in the smaller bedroom and also meaning we could not access the chest of drawers. But overall, this did not spoil our break away and we would definitely come back.

Thank you for your kind feedback and we are sorry that the travel cot was not set up for your arrival, we are however pleased to hear that this did not spoil your break and look forward to welcoming you again soon. Property Owner

  • "Sweet little cottage, however very cramped for 3 adults and a baby."

A travel cot was supplied but there was nowhere to put it so the baby had to sleep in the bed. We requested a high chair but we couldn’t find it anywhere. The photos make the cottage look much bigger than it actually is. It should be made clear that there’s no room for luggage in the bedroom so to pack light. Otherwise great location to be used as a base for exploring the Cotswold.

Many thanks for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed the wonderful location of our cottage in the Cotswolds. We are very sorry to hear that Housekeeping didn’t leave the high chair out for you on this occasion, however, in the welcome folder you will find the information showing where it is stored due to the limited space. The travel cot provided does fit at the end of the king size bed, we apologise that on this occasion this was not placed there or the position communicated to you. This is an old cottage as can be seen on the photos along with the description which clearly shows that the bedrooms are located in the eaves indicating limited space. However, there is hanging space on both bedroom doors, also a large chest of drawers available for your belongings. We hope to be able to welcome you back again soon. Property Owner

Self-driving is recommended and parking is possible. As it is winter, tourists are few. The rest was good, the cottage kitchen was well equipped and the landlord prepared eggs, milk and bread and butter for us. The bedroom is on the second floor, small, but very warm. • "My husband and I rented Honeysuckle Cottage for a few days as we had planned to visit nearby Blenheim Palace."

From the outside the cottage is absolutely charming and situated opposite the village green. On entering the kitchen we were delighted to see a welcome pack of bread, eggs, milk and butter, a lovely gesture by the owners. The kitchen was so well equipped with everything you could possibly need and was also spotlessly clean. The sitting room was very cosy and comfortable with a dining table and access to a very peaceful, relaxing back garden. Stairs lead from the sitting room to the two bedrooms and bathrooms. The bedrooms are very cosy with limited space for suitcases as we had brought so I would recommend travelling lighter. The beds were extremely comfortable and being in such a peaceful location we had a good nights sleep. The main bathroom was lovely with a huge bath and lots of towels, toilet roll and handsoap were provided. The second bathroom was small and had a sink and small shower cubicle but was perfectly adequate. We did have an issue with the hot water while we were there but the owners were very quick to get in contact with us when they knew we had a problem. There is also a management company nearby. There are wonderful walks from the cottage and such a lovely pub you can walk to and many more good pubs for food and drink are within a short drive. The cottage would also be a very good base for touring areas in the Cotswolds. I would thoroughly recommend Honeysuckle Cottage if you are looking for a very relaxing, peaceful location in a characterful cottage.

The sitting area is a warm and welcoming space, overlooking the village green, where you can curl up on the inviting furnishings and watch a film on the flatscreen TV, as the flame-effect fire creates a gentle glow and warming feeling in the entire room.

When the night draws to a close, make your way up to the eaves of the cottage where you have a choice of two lovely bedrooms; the first contains a super-king-size bed which can be set up as twin beds, and the second contains a king-size bed which can be set up as twin beds.

In the morning, there will be no queues for the bathroom, as you’ll find a bath with a hand-held shower, basin and WC in one bathroom and a walk-in shower and basin in the other.

The village is close to the famous Cotswold market town of Moreton-in-Marsh where you can visit the small but fine collection WW II memorabilia at Wellington Aviation, and discover the range of falcons, eagles, owls and other birds of prey at Cotswold Falconry Centre and finish off your day with a tipple and meal at The Black Bear Inn.

Make your way to Chipping Campden where you can enjoy the stunning views over the Vale of Evesham at Dover’s Hill, where you can join the Cotswold Way, which is a 100-mile walking trail, taking you through picturesque villages, breath-taking countryside and famous ancient sites and finish off your day with a heart-warming meal at The Swan in Broadway – the second stop on Cotswold Way!

There is something for everyone in Sutton-under-Brailes, and Honeysuckle Cottage is the perfect base for you and your loved ones.
