Loch Illion View is a charming detached house near the town of Dungloe in County Donegal.

This property is a tranquil base for a group of friends or family looking for a retreat, as it boasts a woodburning stove in the living area whilst having incredible views of the loch and mountains to admire.

Walk up the steps into your new holiday home to be met by a welcoming living and dining room.

Claim one of the armchairs or pick your spot on the sofa as you unwind and become accustomed to your pretty surroundings.

Pick something to watch on the Smart TV that is positioned excellently on the wall.

After a few episodes, make your way into the kitchen area to make a bite to eat using the electric oven and the electric hob.

In the front garden, take a drink out to enjoy the sunset over the loch and the mountains waving back at you in the background.

When the evening breeze tickles, you come back inside to warm up by the woodburning stove.

After a couple of yawns, call it a night in either the king-size, twin or single room.

Once well-rested, start the day off with a leisurely soak in the bath or a refreshing shower.

Dungloe is home to many bespoke shops and lots of restaurants, coffee shops and takeaways catering for all tastes and budgets.

Within a 30 minute drive there are two golf courses.

Cruit Island Golf Club is one of the most scenic golf courses in Ireland and regarded as one of the best 9 hole courses in the world.

Narin & Portnoo Links is an 18 hole with stunning coastal views.

In Maghery, spend a day exploring the beach, taking in the stunning sea views, take on the waves with a bit of kayaking with Maghery Coastal Adventures or hike up to see the ruins of The Signal Tower by the serene beaches.

Venture out to Arranmore Island to walk up the Arranmore Cliffs to see simply breathtaking views all around, head to the Lighthouse Dwellings or take a dip at Cloughcorr Beach.

In Letterkenny, go for a stroll through the Town Park, pop into see the Regional Cultural Centre or see who comes out on top with plenty of games available at the Arena 7 Entertainment Complex.

Donegal Airport is only 25 minute drive away, with regular fights too and from Dublin and regular flights to and from Glasgow.

Arranmore Island 7.5 miles; Letterkenny 32 miles.

Up until 1762, entry into the town of Dungloe in Donegal was only possible via the stepping stones dotted over the river. Thankfully, now visitors from all over the world can take the much easier route over Donegal Bridge and enjoy this charming town in County Donegal with ease. Dungloe is known locally as 'The Capital of The Rosses', the name given to this region of the county. The town, which has become recognised as a centre for traditional Irish music, has a selection of shops, bars and eating places, as well as events taking place throughout the year, including the annual 'Mary from Dungloe' festival. A fisherman's paradise, the area has over 130 lakes and rivers and is renowned for its fishing and great sea angling, with several charter boats available in nearby Burtonport, from where diving can also be enjoyed. There are also daily boat trips from the harbour to Arranmore and Rutland Island. Wonderful wildlife can be found in the bogs and reed beds, while golfers will love the variety of golf courses found in the surrounding area. With hills and mountains to explore, the dramatic coastline to enjoy and so much to see and do, this is sure to make the perfect base for your Donegal holiday.
