  • "A lovely spacious house with great facilities and in an ideal location for our purposes."

  • "A lovely very well equipped, clean house and Margaret is an excellent very helpful host who was always happy to help, answer questions and give us advice about the local area."

I'd certainly stay in Mill House again if I'm visiting Donegal in the future. Unfortunately 2 of our party received electric shocks from the elderly dishwasher during our stay. Margaret arranged for it to be checked the following day and the electrician said it hadn't been earthed properly. Although this was repaired it did make us wonder if the dishwasher had reached the end of its useful life. And what else might need checking? Mill House had been her family home for many years and this was reflected in the age of most of the kitchen appliances. Other minor niggles were no bins in some of the bedrooms, some of the power showers didn't always work properly and the cooker extractor hood didn't cater for those over 6ft tall - but then very few do in my experience. Finally there was a heat wave for our first 2-3 nights there: the duvets were too hot and although there were extra blankets there was no sheets to use in place of the duvet - but then how often are there heat waves in Ireland?

The dishwater was reported at night abd was fixed first thing next day. Except for the actual kitchen cupboards which had new doors fittrd, everything except the dishwater was new. I will leave flat sheets in the bedroom cupboards from now on. Incidentally was the only really hot week we had. A pump has since been added to boost the showers where pressure was less than sone people would like. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in, as you said, a beautiful area, surrounded by golf courses and beaches which you praised each day. Thank you for your suggestions. Property Owner

Where you’ll be staying

MOVILLE, COUNTY DONEGAL

Greencastle 2.4 miles; Derry 20 miles.

The bustling market town of Donegal Town is situated in the south of the county at the point where the River Eske flows into Donegal Bay. Rich in history, the town was founded as a result of the 17th century Ulster Plantation planned around the Donegal Diamond, and is home to Donegal Castle and Murvagh Beach. The area is fantastic for fishing, with numerous suitable rivers and lakes available. For golfers, Donegal Golf Club and Murvagh Links Course provide a great game against a stunning backdrop. The dramatic sandy beach at Rossnowlagh is backed by wonderful cliff views of Slieve League, and is framed by the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, making a wonderful day out. For a great taste of the lovely Irish scenery, enjoy a drive along the Glengesh Pass, while Slieve League, Glenveagh National Park and Castle and Malin Head are all worth a visit, or enjoy Donegal Festival in July or the Taste of Donegal Food Festival in Late August.

Please NOTE: Last week of October 31st, 1st and 2nd November, there is a Halloween celebration all weekend with parade fireworks and people dressing up. Great atmosphere and visitors from all over the world.
