  • "No. 10 is a great cabin, on a beautiful location, amazing viewers, for a fair price."

    We had a lovely stay of 7 nights and enjoyed it. Yet, we have some remarks. The rather limited space of ca. 20m2 is not very economically used,Little spaces around the main bed, also because the slanted walls. The sofa bed is hard as stone and uncomfortable to sleep on and takes up a lot of space. For a man of 6.ft.1 is is hardly possible to use the toilet while standing up, because of the slanted walls and the wc pot is very low to sit on. The bathroom lacks a ventilator; there is a window , though leaving that open brings in dozens of moths, which is very unpleasant. On a warm evening the outside space is filled with millions of midges. For heating food in the magnetron, there are no suitable magnetron plates available, only porcelain ones, which could cause damage. The communal playroom place could do with an update, either used for something else. As it is, there a hardly any real playing opportunities. It is not inviting and lacks atmosphere. I would advise either to put an extra container for rubbish and bottles etc or put an extra one. During the 8:days of our stay, it only piled up and over. When booking I could not make out which cabin has which number. Which on is number 6 and which one number 10? Choice for a certain number does make quite a difference for the quietness and more important for the view. I would strongly advise to use a picture of the areal view on the booking site, and put the number on the the specific cabin. It’s only 10 of them.

The village of Gortahork is situated on the north western tip of the County Donegal coast, and is an increasingly popular location for surfing and walking. There are several beautiful beaches around the area, and the village is home to the Samhain International Poetry Festival each year. From Gortahork, Glenveagh National Park is easily accessible for a great day out, and with 16,000 acres, it is a walker's paradise. The renowned artist Derek Hill bequeathed his house and gallery near Glenveagh along with his art collection to the nation in 1980, attached is Glebe Gallery and tea rooms which hosts many exhibitions. For a day's relaxation head to nearby Bunbeag which has a swimming pool and a spa area or An Chuirt Hotel which lies at the foot of the Errigal Mountain and has its own health club and spa. Island-hopping is fun for all the family, and from Gortahork, you can charter a boat and visit Arranmore, Cruit Island and Owey Island. Cruit Island is joined to the mainland by a bridge, so is easily reached by car, but chartering a boat is much more exciting! Nearby, the town of Dungloe plays host to the annual ‘Mary From Dungloe’ festival, and is renowned for its fantastic fishing. This is a great location, and an ideal base for touring the area.
