  • "Your photos of Cloonkee cottage don’t really do it justice, it is a lot bigger than they suggest."

It is a wonderful place, very well equipped with everything you need, and more! Mary & Michael are fantastic hosts, living just up the road should you need them, other than that the place is totally yours during your stay and is very much ‘home from home’

Michael has great knowledge of places to visit, they are both there if needed however give you great privacy during your stay, the garden is beautiful to sit out on a nice evening very well maintained, a beautiful peaceful cottage only a short drive from Ballina Town Centre also a great base to visit Mayo and Croagh Patrick. Great visit beautiful memories made. Would will definitely stay again.

Everything was spotlessly clean and tidy, and was fully equipt with everything you can think of. The cottage is only 10 minutes from Ballina but in a very rural setting making it lovely and quiet. They also lit the peat fire for us before we arrived as it was very cold Would definately stay there again and reccomend it to others.

Clean and comfortable, well equipped and more spacious than it would appear from the photos. It suited our family of 2+3 perfectly. The cottage is in a good location, convenient to the town of Ballina which itself is worth spending time in but also perfect for exploring Mayo. It was our first time in the area and we really enjoyed it. Thanks to the owners Michael and Mary who were very welcoming, and gave us lots of useful suggestions for places to visit. Thank you!

A perfect place, to use as a base, to visit all the wonderful places that Mayo and neighbouring counties, have to offer. We were met with a warm welcome and offered some local areas to visit. This help continued for our stay and was welcomed. If someone is looking for a place to stay, that is homely, well positioned, well maintained and cared for, look no further. The acid test is, would we come back? The answer is, without a shadow of a doubt!

  • "Cottage is quite excellent."

Owners had really thought about needs of guests travelling a distance, things like milk, butter, salt, pepper, cooking oil and cleaning items like washing up liquid provided, and went extra mile with fresh wheaten bread and home made jam. The cottage was spotless, bright, airy, warm and comfortable in every way which we appreciated even more as weather was not great and we spent quite a bit of time in. Easy to find as per directions, small town of Crossmolina 5 mins drive away has a Centra store which meets all needs (and a lovely coffee shop, the Old Post Office!) Well located for travelling around Co Mayo. Thanks Michael and Mary!

  • "Clonkee Cottage is a lovely warm and comfortable place."

We didn't have the best of the weather but enjoyed the local towns and the area is very beautiful. The owners here were extremely hospitable and helpful. We left a couple of suggestions to make the experience better - like getting a freeview tv instead of the very basic Irish Tv and also perhaps an upgrade on the tired suite in the lounge. Having said that, we had our 2 dogs with us and the garden is pretty well fenced for security so peace of mind is what we look for in a cottage holiday and that we got. Good water pressure and excellent central heating - a must for a winter break. We would recommend the cottage to others.

We visited with our two daughters, 18 & 20, as well as our dog and we all felt at home from the start. The cottage is well positioned to visit all of Mayo’s main attractions, but also in a very peaceful location. The cottage is very well equipped, with everything you need for a comfortable stay and there’s enough peat to keep you warm for a year. Our visit coincided with the owners being away on holiday, but we were very well looked after by their son Enda, who made us feel very welcome. We would definitely stay in this location again.
