  • "Highly recommend this beautiful holiday cottage."

The views were stunning and we had the medieval ruins of castle, church, and graves ,which John the owner left a book of the history and all the names of who are burried there right outside our cottage.John would feed the foxes at night which you can view from binoculars in the house.A wonderful place to stay and so much bigger than expected. After a day of exploring settled in to watch the many movies on Netflix which was available to us.The views are breathtaking.

Well thats a great start to a rainy Sunday morning. Thank you both for posting a great review for out holiday haven . We had such an easy job to prepare for the next guests as you left the place immaculately clean . So we are very grateful to you both. Sometimes it takes outside eyes to wake us up and appreciate where we live and its natural beauty . You ve certainly made me look around this morning and count my blessings with your comments . Its so nice to meet genuine people and glad that they have enjoyed their stay . To then recieve a top review is the icing on the cake . All the best to you both and thank you very much for your custom . John Kerr. Property Owner

  • "My family of 4 stayed at the Kilcash Castle cottage for 2 weeks during the month of August."

How can I begin to describe the magic this place brought to our lives. Let me begin with the basics, the cottage was extremely clean and airy. The place is both spacious but a certain charm that makes the whole space feel warm and inviting. The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was perfectly stocked, there was plenty of entertainment (books, movies, smart tvs, music, etc) for a night in or a day well spent. The backyard is straight out of a storybook, with tons of space for kids to play and run around, for adults to have picnic surrounded by all the beautiful nature that the land has to offer. We spent every day with the windows open and eating outdoors, walking on the paths that led to the castle and taking in the beautiful views this cottage is located on. About the host; John is an great on. Aside from that, he is a kind and giving person. Always with a story to tell and a conversation ready to unfold. He lives quite close to the property so he is always on call and quick to answer if anything is needed. He has stables where two beautiful horses live and was very happy to let our kids feed them and visit them almost every day. Our kids played with the dogs and watched John feed foxes in the evenings, which made the stay even more magical. The cottage was immaculately clean thanks to the help of Eddie! If you are lucky to stay here, We highly recommend you meet him. Such a kind and warm soul who is eager to know about people and share his stories and knowledge of beekeeping (Ed is an amazing beekeeper, making the best honey in the area). We are really recommend you try his honey out for we wish we would had purchase a case full of it and taken it back home haha. Only a two hour drive from Dublin, But with a range of places to visit within short distances. Plenty of castles to drive to and see or take day trips to places like Kilkenny, Cork, Cashel, Cahir, Carrick-on-Suir and Tramore, etc. Whether you plan to see as much as you can of this beautiful country or simply take a R&R trip, this place is for you. The overall experience at the Kilcash Cottage was an amazing one. We were super sad to leave; our kids still keep asking about John, Paso doble (name one of the horses), and Eddie. it honestly felt like home. I hope to return in the future to the cottage, and to see our good friends John and Eddie.

Well how do we rispond to your wonderful review. I suppose its only fair to point out that both Eddie and I had all our work over the season rewarded by thise kind words . I know I also speak for him when I say that your visit ,children and interaction with us was a memory we won t ever forget. I so admire how you are raising these lovely children and offering them some real life experiences in a rural setting . And we were priveledged to participate . Escarletta and you really impressed the socks off us ,always open and ready to involve yourselves in the locals lives ,such as Eddies grandchild s birthday. We hope you will be be back again ,possibly on a more permanent basis, and we will help in any way we can if that is the case . so stay in touch and I ll send on some pictures of the dogs ,horses and foxes for the kids . Once again thank you for the amazing review but know too that our lives were enhanced by you stay with us . PS Eddie is entering our farm honey in a competitiin at the months end . Lets hope he is successful with it . Property Owner

House location amazing. Cleanliness spectacular. Host great craic and very decent guy. Very comfortable beds and furniture. Couldn't find any fault with this house and host. Got to see the host feed foxes every night using binoculars (supplied by host). Have to come back in the future. Many Thanks John for an amazing property !! Terry and Paul

Well guys ,I m blushing a bit with the really lovely comments from you both . As I had texted you previously, you showed great appreciation of our efforts in how neat and clean everything was left . it certainly made the turnover a walk in the park. Guests ,such as yourselves ,make the effort worthwhile and there is no greater reward than to know you enjoyed your stay . We certainly enjoyed having you . So your kind words are genuinely appreciated . Take care of your good selves ,and hopefully we will see you again . Eddie hopes you enjoyed our woodland honey from his bees on the farm . Kilcash Castle Cottage is a detached natural stone house situated adjacent to Kilcash Castle and Churchyard, (1190-1801), original Norman Tower residence of the Butler family, Earls of Ormond (Kilkenny Castle).

Completely renovated recently to the highest modern standards, it is nestled beneath Slievenamon, ( Mountain of the Women) and overlooking the entire valley.

Its location is both scenic and historically significant in Irish history, the lament for Cill Chais being the most celebrated poem and ballad in Gaelic literature.

The vantage point chosen by the Butlers offers views stretching as far as Waterford with the Comeragh mountain range directly to the south.

Popular historical locations such as Kilkenny Castle, the Rock of Cashel, Cahir Castle and the Elizabethan Tudor Manor in Carrick on Suir are all within a half hour s radius of this tranquil home in its cul de sac, the garden with orchard, pine grove and stream add wonderfully to the general setting.

The area is a thriving agricultural community with sports field and several tennis and squash courts available to use for a small visitors fee.

Two traditional pubs (1km) offer refreshment and occasionally traditional Irish music.

A shop and a pub are a short drive away for any essentials or a meal out.

Step into your new holiday abode and enter the welcoming living and dining area.

Pick your corner of the sofa or claim the armchair as you settle in and take in the magnificent exposed stonework that enhances your surroundings .Unwind into the furniture and turn on the Smart TV to find one of your favourite shows on Netflix.

If you prefer some quiet time, make the most of the other sitting room with a selection of books on offer, however, there is the option of another Smart TV.

Make the most of the fully-fitted kitchen with an electric oven and hob ready to assist you when cooking up a storm.

Plate the delicious food at the dining table to eat together.

Once you’re full head outside to appreciate the glorious views all around you.

Take in the beaming sun until it ebbs away for the night sky.

When the breeze gets chilly, head back in and warm up next to the woodburning stove.

Call it a night when you sense a yawn coming along on one of the upstairs double beds.

Start a new day off with a soak in the bath or a refreshing shower ahead of more fun activities.

Nearby towns Clonmel and Cashel offer cuisine ranging from fish and chips to Michelin star restaurants.

Hiking on Slievenamon and the Comeraghs is very popular and a wood walk (6km) with wildlife and views is only 200 yards from your new home.
