The pretty, unspoilt village of Arkholme quietly rests in the picturesque Lune Valley, between the Lake District and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks. The village offers traditional stone built dwellings, a friendly, local pub and a shop. Numerous scenic walks radiate from the village across beautiful rolling countryside and along the River Lune to the many pictorial villages, which enjoy fabulous views over the Lakeland Fells and Northern Dales. Explore nearby Hutton Roof Crags Nature Reserve, boasting one of the most impressive areas of limestone habitat in Britain, whilst being home to a wide variety of butterflies, birds and plant life. The ancient market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, with its attractive 17th and 18th century architecture and famous Devil's Bridge is within easy reach, and has a variety of distinctive shops and a selection of fine pubs and restaurants. The historic, Cumbrian town of Kendal, with its quaint cobbled streets, impressive art gallery and interesting museum is just eighteen miles away, the popular town of Lancaster with it's famous castle and Ingleton with it's caves and waterfalls are just ten miles away, and Morecambe Bay is only twelve miles from Arkholme.
