  • "Arrived at 5."

    30pm almost dark. Lot of people milling around as nighttime Halloween event being held. Signage to apartment at back of castle very poor and we were ‘rescued’ by helpful and friendly electrician, Parking requested at front because of event. Immediate poor reaction on entry as straight into living area dull and smelly. A request the following morning for new extractor filter (filthy) and lightbulb was fairly promptly dealt with. Carpet seemed grubby and place somewhat dusty. Table and chairs need replacing. Seating comfortable if old fashioned. Bathrooms clean and appeared to be recently refurbished and decorated. Good showers and plenty of hot water. Bedrooms OK ish and bed and bedding very comfortable. Lighting everywhere poor. Entrance area scruffy and outlook depressing - bins and parking area. Having a ground floor good for access for dog though but no nearby grassy areas. Welcome supplies appreciated and OK kitchen area well stocked with china etc. dishwasher would be good ? We enjoyed the castle and Halloween event and loved the local area but felt disappointed with the overall condition and location of the apartment - it was depressing. Whilst we understand trying to maintain the character of the building this space is, we believe, in need of an update and we did not feel we had value for the money. I would like to have seen the other apartments for comparison but disappointingly we were not impressed with ours.

  • "The apartment itself is very good, nicely laid out and everything you need inside (including an iron and ironing board, pots and pans, cutlery, utensils and coat hangers in the wardrobes!"

I would have rated this a 5 star plus, but for 3 small and possibly individual to us issues; 1 (this is a big one for me) master bedroom mattress was way too soft and very lumpy. 2 lighting in the dining/living room area too dull and not all lights work. 3 the toilet is far too close to the bath in the master ensuite for taller people! I am 6 foot and it is most uncomfortable. Otherwise it is excellent, we were there as 4 adults, (collective age 285) access for a mobility scooter was good, the single rooms and the other bathroom were excellent. Loads of hot water, both showers were great, easy access to the castle and theme park, staff were polite and accommodating. I would definitely go again.

  • "Wonderful apartment."

    Spotlessly clean. Easy arrival. Kitchen had all stuff we needed: coffee pot, sharp knives, etc. I think if you had young kids, bring your own plastic plates/ cups . Tv: had Netflix! Bonus for teenagers! Wi-Fi was great too. Beds: I’m used to a very wide bed, so the double bed was small to us but very comfortable. Bathrooms: 2. Yay. Didn’t have to share with teenagers! Again spotless clean with the biggest towels ever! Swimming pool: again, clean and great. Theme park: you have free access. Staff so very friendly. My kids a bit old now for rides but they enjoyed a stroll around. Inside the castle museum was interesting. Dungeons a good threat! Parking: no probs. You have your own space. Worth eating at Sawmills up the road- 1 min away in car. The harbour is a delight. The little cafe does an amazing milkshake! This is our second time at Watermouth castle. We’d go again!

  • "A very clean and very well maintained apartment."

  • "The property is as described but tired, there is insufficient lighting in the lounge."

    The cleaning could be improved and as not as good as it used to be. Advertised items such as oven gloves were not available meaning a risk of burns. The glasses and crockery were a ‘cobbled together’ mix - some items like mugs there were two while there were at least six wine glasses but no larger water glasses meaning we drank from water bottles. We have stayed many times before and now find a fictional story of the castle is being promoted as truth - surely this is not legal?! Having stayed on 19 previous occasions, last year being a disaster where our booking was taken then we were told nothing was open, I doubt we will stay again. Having said that if you want to stay, haven’t been before and go for a redecorated apartment plus have young (ish) children you will likely enjoy it.
