  • "We had a wonderful stay at 4 Millers Island, the accommodation was bright and very clean with a comfy master bed."

The hot tub was set in a glorious woodland area with complete privacy and the visitors which included ducks, squirrels and even a heron were wonderful. The outdoor decking area however does need some attention to be able to enjoy it. The decking and seating areas were not cleaned and so unusable and some stinging nettles need to be cut back. The soft furniture looks to be always be left out so could do with being cleaned and taken in after each stay so people can then bring it out if desired (plenty of wardrobe space for those). If this area could be sorted it would be 5* all round from us as we did have a wonderful stay and would love to come back if some attention could be given outdoors.

We really appreciate you taking the time to leave your feedback Tracy, thank you so much. I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed 4 Miller's Island and were able to meet some of our resident wildlife so closely. In regards to the outdoor decking area, I am sorry that there were issues during your stay and can now confirm that the decking and furniture has been jet washed. I hope you will consider returning to visit us again in the future, Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "This lodge was the perfect place to get away from it all, peaceful, quiet and surrounded by nature including wildlife which my kids loved!"

The layout was great, big space for 4 of us, hot tub was excellent and had everything you could want for a week away. Blinds have been put up on side windows which was extra cosy at night which had been previously mentioned. Now the not so good point..... cleanliness. Several items in the kitchen were dirty, bowls, cutlery & plates. The table placemats were filthy with dried food on still too. The decking area, outside windows and outdoor furniture were also grubby looking and dirty. Couldn't use any of the seating or the hammock. Needs a good jet wash and removal of bird poo/cobwebs off of seats and windows. 1 outdoor light by hottub was also not working. Would return though again

Thank you so much for leaving us your thoughts after your stay at 4 Miller's Island, Laura. I am so pleased to hear that you were able to enjoy our tranquil resort with your family. I am however, very sorry to hear that there were some cleaning oversights. This is not acceptable and not something we would wish guests to experience. We will discuss the problems with the housekeeping supervisor to ensure that standards are met moving forward. We would really love for you to return and stay with us again in the future. • "As advertised and the write up doesn't quite capture the brightness of the living area."

The very small thing that was disconcerting was there was not curtain for the entrance window which at night make us feel a little unsure. There was reference to instructions by the hottub which didn't seem to be there and I was confused about what to do regarding the rubbish which wasn't clear in the welcome documents but fortunately I was able to check with the cleaning crew before leaving. Loved the little welcome pack and box of various consumerables which was a nice touch. Reception staff were very nice and friendly. Overal a very positive and relaxing long weekend. Thank you.

I am delighted to hear that you enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing stay with us Elizabeth, 4 Miller's Island is in such a tranquil position! My apologies that there were no instructions for your hot tub, we have contacted the manufacturer for detailed instructions, as this is a new hot tub. Thank you for your suggestion of a privacy blind for the front door, this will be fitted imminently. I am so sorry that it wasn't clear where to dispose of your rubbish, but happy to hear that our housekeeping team were able to help. I hope despite these small issues you will consider coming back to stay with us again in the future. Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "Lovely lodge in beautiful surroundings."

Only small gripe could have used an umbrella for shade. Managed with the golf brollies from the car. Would certainly book again.

We really appreciate you leaving us your thoughts Roger, I am so pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us at 4 Miller's Island. Thank you for your suggestion of an umbrella for the decking, this is something that is being arranged as we speak. I hope you will be coming to see us again in the future as we would love to welcome you back again! Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

  • "The lodge was perfect inside and out like being on your own little island being surrounded by a lake and a stream was perfect retreat for a peaceful holiday."

We loved the layout of the place different from what we have stayed in before but it was very cozy and had everything we needed we loved it. Only thing I would say about the inside is to have a curtain on the side to make it more cozy at night especially early and late season. You can’t park your car outside the lodge but you have your own little area to park at the end of the pathway down to your lodge that is for residents to No 4 only. To sum it up we thoroughly enjoyed our week at Millers Island and we hope to come back next year and stay at No 4 again.

It was lovely to meet you both during your stay Kay, thank you so much for leaving us your wonderful feedback and also for the suggestion of a side curtain, I will pass this to the Guest Experience Manager to look into. I look forward to being able to welcome you back to stay at Stonerush Lakes again in the future. Sally, Guest Services, Charteroak Property Owner

About the location

LANREATH

Pelynt 2 miles; Looe 5 miles; Polperro 6 miles.

Lanreath is a village in southeast Cornwall, five miles west of Looe. Lanreath is rural in character with a local shop and Post Office as well as a parish church. There are a number of ghost stories associated with Lanreath. The best-known features a ghost in black driving a coach pulled by a headless horse. Nearby Pelynt is home to a parish church, a number of local shops and pubs, especially the Jubilee Inn, which was an original farmhouse dating back to the 16th Century. Looe is Cornwall’s second largest fishing port and hence there is always a lively maritime bustle around the quay area of East Looe, which is connected to the quieter West Looe by a seven arched 19th century bridge over the River Looe. The sandy Looe beach adjoins the pier and is very popular with families because of its safe shallow swimming and vast expanse of sand. Polperro is a little further away and is a historic fishing village nestling at the head of a long valley leading down to the sea. With plenty of areas to visit, Lanreath is a quiet, pleasant place offering easy access to the coast, the moors, National Trust properties and Cornwall's famous gardens.
