"This was a last-minute booking as we were unsure if an elderly member of the party would be well enough to travel."
However, Sykes made the whole process smooth and easy and it turned out to be a good decision. Bridgend Barn was a delight; spacious, original, comfortable and clean with thoughtful touches and everything we needed. The approach roads were less of a challenge than we had feared (recollections of a visit to the South Hams many years ago!) and parking at the property is quite easy if you remember to reverse in. I needed to contact the owners about a personal requirement and found Susy to be very pleasant, friendly, helpful and accommodating.
I would thoroughly recommend this property.

"Lovely looking, clean and spacious, and for some would be the ideal cottage."
But for us the constant traffic noise from the small but busy road immediately in front of the barn couldn’t be ignored. I should have checked more carefully on the map before booking. I didn’t realise the road linked the two villages and they are big villages! Also no one on the river hires boats or kayaks. The only boat ride we managed was short ferry ride across the river - and this was £4.50 per person, return £9! The coast path walking was lovely and flat, once you climbed the hill up to it. And three good pubs in walking distance was an advantage from having two large villages so close. The owners information does mention damp in the barn, and we found the end bedroom had an unpleasant smell and clothes left in drawers there smelt! But otherwise lovely.
So glad you enjoyed the walks and pubs, and thought the barn was lovely. Our two little villages are quite unique as most homes are occupied full time, so there will be some bustle at school run times - or at the weekend when people head to our pubs (especially after a boat race or live music at the Swan!) But we appreciate it may not have suited you if you were after something more remote.
Our barn guide should have pointed you to our local paddleboard company, who are usually very helpful with board hire and local places to pick up inflatable kayaks (which we use). And again in the guide, we recommend keeping the ensuite door shut after showers, which should have prevented any humidity build up! But we hope you find the perfect stay that is more remote for you next trip. :)

"We had a great week staying at Bridgend Barn."
We liked the fact that the owners have thought of everything including wellies ! Especially liked the fact we could park 3 cars off the road as there is limited parking in the village. Easy walk to the village pubs especially the Swan which had good food and sunset views of the Estuary.

"Bridgend Barn is a spacious, comfortable and well appointed and equipped accommodation place where we thoroughly enjoyed our stay overlooking the river estuary and walking the narrow streets and lane ways up and down the surrounding hills of Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo."
It was a wonderful place to relax feel at home. Our only other feedback to the property owner would be to maybe emphasise the narrowness of the streets which can make accessibility and getting around a challenge at times.

"This property is just beautiful!"
Gorgeous location, and a true home from home with board games, books (even a children’s selection in the kids room), cds, dvds, and so many tiny details that I haven’t had in a cottage before. The kitchen was so well stocked and the place was spotless. Lovely bottle of Prosecco and biscuits on arrival and a real effort to make our holiday enjoyable. We would absolutely go again. My kids couldn’t believe how lucky we were to stop in a place which overlooks a river with ducks and swans!

"Bridgend Barn is perfect!"
The location is idyllic and walking distance of Noss Mayo & Newton Ferraris. The accommodation is immaculate and is equipped with everything you could need, the amount of books, games, dvds etc makes it feel more like a home from home. We were sad to leave and will be happy to book again in the future

"Our welcome pack of biscuits had a use by date of April 2023."
Left a note as they were soft and a glass of instant coffee was rock hard. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.
Thank you for the 5 star review! So glad you enjoyed your stay. We're so sorry about the welcome pack - our housekeeping company assures us this was a one-off and absolutely won't happen again. If you ever come back to the barn we'll make sure there's a little extra in the welcome pack waiting for you next time! :)

"Our second stay at Bridgend Barn!"
We love it here; the house is so comfortable and very well designed. Our girls (5 and 7) love the upstairs bedroom with its own bathroom, its such a cool room for children. The kitchen is a lovely hub of the house with wonderful views out of the windows. We love too the lounge with its log burner and awesome big television. We liked it all as much in the winter as the summer.
The village is great with a few good pubs to choose from, our favourite is the Swan.
In short this is a wonderful place to stay in a wonderful place.

"I appreciate that we had near gale force winds, however the post and stone are insufficient to hold the gate in those circumstances."
One morning it was leaning against my brand new car (3 weeks old).
Hi Bernard, thank you for the positive ratings, and we hope you had a nice stay. If you return we recommend parking away from the driveway - there's plenty of room for a few cars on the gravel - and then closing the gate, especially in heavy winds! But we appreciate the feedback - we shall certainly add that advice to the guide for future guests!

"We are missing the comforts of Bridgend Barn."
A delightful place to stay, and we appreciated the extra touches of wellington boots to borrow, good books to read, I stayed up till11.45 pm to finish Where The Crawdads sing,
flowers and biscuits, shopping bags. Excellent crib sheet of the facilities in the Barn and where to go, eat and shop. It was great to see so many different types of pictures and loved the sculptures. Thoroughly recommend this property, so clean as well, all credit goes to the cleaning company employed by the owners.

"Bridgend barn was the perfect stay!"
The place was highly equipped with more than you would need, including bits for the beach and crabbing.
Nespresso coffee machine, high quality TV, perfect location, and so much more. Down the road is two lovely pubs, about a 7 minute walk, both located next to the river.
The house had lots of parking and has a lovely garden/ patio you can sit out on!
We will definitely be back!

"We had a lovely holiday at Bridgend Barn."
The location is very special and the barn itself is charming, very spacious and well-equipped, with lots of lovely thoughtful extras. There’s plenty to do in and around the local area and, in particular, some lovely beaches to visit. We would definitely recommend it to our friends and family.
