"Absolutely lovely property, large kitchen and sepearte lounge area."
Large enclosed safe garden for our dog. Very quiet area. The main reception area is closed but that didnt bother us. Lovely large bedrooms plus a jaccuzzi. Easy check in and check out. Perfect for our trip, thank you.
Thank you so much and we are very pleased you enjoyed your stay. We hope you visit again soon

"Had a surprisingly good stay considering the previous reviews."
Six adults and three unders fives. Fantastic location, great garden & hottub. Shame the site facilities originally advertised were not available and we weren't advised. Main bedroom at the far end in need of a good clean (lots of spider webs).
Trying to disguise the smell in the corner kitchen cabinet with an air freshener wasn't ideal as it tainted all the items in there which needed to be throughly washed before use.
The shower was loose with ensuite bedroom. Bathroom sink loose in main bedroom ensuite.
Crockery and large drinking glasses were a bit on the short side considering the amount of people staying.
No response from owner when asked questions re' previous reviews but Sykes not very responsive either.
Only four dishwasher tablets left for a weeks stay. Welcome pack was underwhelming which included a miniature bottle of wine for six. Just a few touches and a bit of TLC could make all the difference.
Thank you for your kind review and we will take note of your suggestions.
I am very sorry Sykes did not inform you as previously stated a request was made months ago to inform our summer guests. We will have to investigate the kitchen cupboard as a new dishwasher was fitted end of last season. Shower is new so I will ask them to check. Sink will need to be replaced it has been tightened several times.
I’m not sure what more crockery/glasses would be needed - I will check again - it was very well stocked when I personally checked. I will pass on your comments regarding housekeeping and welcome pack.
Just wanted to ask who you contacted - I have not received any messages from you and would have been happy to answer any questions as the owner. There is a messaging system on your Sykes booking which would have come through directly to me. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and that you thought it was surprisingly good. We hope the park situation concludes swiftly for the next season. Thanks for visiting.

"Cleaners need to do a better job, cobwebs everywhere especially in the bedrooms, sticky surfaces, red stains on floor in bathroom, eyelashes stuck on the wall."
No blinds or curtains in the lounge area, maintenance needs looking at, a few broken light fittings, outside needs tidying up, gardens overgrown.
If offering towels, need more than one per person and offer different sizes example hand towel, bath towel and bath sheet.
Thank you for your feedback.
Will address any concerns with the cleaners and have checked their photos which were all good.
We have been in directly after you ourselves. Thank you for leaving it tidy.
We checked lights as far as we can see there is a broken light cover in hallway but this is not a standard light and the fitting may have to be changed completely but there is ample lighting. Bulb outside has been replaced. We didn’t see cobwebs everywhere. The blinds have been removed off of two windows as they were irreparable after being constantly broken when pulled and would not go back up. Personally we feel they are not really necessary and are causing more maintenance and upkeep. There is no intention to put blinds back because of the private setting and no one able to pass by.
Garden was certainly not overgrown. We have an outside gardener who visits frequently to tend to our own personal garden. Everything looked good.
We can think about offering more towels but would have to charge for extra laundry as it would be x8 etc. there are hand towels provided in each bathroom as well as a bath towel for each person and floor mats for showers. We are not a hotel but a self catering lodge and only supply what is required.
We hope you enjoyed the location, the peace and space the lodge offers.
We appreciate your score of 100% for comfort.
Thank you for visiting.

"Absolutely the worst holiday ever The property looks nice when arriving!"
But that’s where it stops! The property is dirty multiple cobwebs in every room with active spiders, No facilities at site no bin collections no site maintenance, Property has missing lights/bulbs out No rear lights working Hot tub was dirty with scum and foam produced, Bed was broken to the extent we had to prop it up with books, No blinds in sitting room so unable to have privacy, Doors not locking, Windows blown Complained on arrival Sykes still not communicating with me even after multiple complaints Property owner contacted me personally with promises of repairs With only the hot tub being cleaned to a fashion but no other repairs carried out! Walked to reception which is closed as the whole site is in receivership since May! Sykes only said pool was closed! Would not recommended Sykes as customer service is non existent and the whole place is a ghost town! We actually left a day early as the bedroom and bathroom we stayed in was infested with flying ants which was the last straw! I will be seeking compensation as this wasn’t a holiday but an absolute bloody nightmare! Never again!
Thank you for your review. We would like to address these:
The Lodge is cleaned very well before each booking, its proximity to 12 acres of woodland and it being a lodge attracts spiders. They make webs daily!
Bins have been arranged by owners and will operate as per the information sheet.
Bulbs do go from time to time and will be replaced. There is plenty of lighting inside the lodge. The outside light unfortunately went.
Bed has been replaced and was repaired in the meantime.
Your hot tub was refilled - showering before use is essential.
Blinds unfortunately have had to be removed as they were constantly broken by guests.
The lodge is not overlooked and does not face into any other lodges. The lounge is a communal space and as there are fewer people at the moment privacy is not an issue. The lodge is also set lower down and away from any walkways so nobody can walk past a window.
The bi folds need to be handled gently the doors do lock if pulled correctly! Lodges also require air circulation.
Sykes are fully aware of the situation with the park and I personally requested an email explaining to future bookings that the park is under new ownership and its facilities are not open so far this season. I’d also like to point out you booked an owners lodge which operates separately so therefore reception does not cater for your requests.
If you leave your bathroom windows/bedroom patio doors open when flying ants are around of course they will come in.
I am sorry you didn’t find any positives with your stay including the peaceful location, comfortable accommodation, ease of parking, great area to explore, large garden, spacious kitchen and 3 comfortable clean bathrooms albeit a loose sink which is safe and we are aware it needs replacing.
It is a quirky older lodge but we are always happy to make sure guests are safe and happy - there is a number in the pack to call should you require anything. Thank you for visiting

"We had a wonderful week away!"
The setting is so private and peaceful with beautiful views around the park. Lovely location for nice long walks.
The area has lots of hills, and breathtaking scenery.
There were a few niggles that I have fed back to the property owner, that did not detract from our holiday.
Basic kitchen utensils provided, all towels and bed linens. Big comfy sofas and plenty of stools to sit at the kitchen table. Selection of games and puzzles provided. Bed set up as described. Two king size beds- one with bath and toilet en suite, one double with a shower en suite, one twin room and one main bathroom with both bath and shower.
Seemed to have a tv in most (if not all!) bedrooms, bedside lamps etc.
washing machine and drying rack available which was nice.
Fridge freezer huge!
Thank you.
Thank you so much for a lovely review. All feedback is very useful and gives us an idea of what we can do for the next season to make the lodge a more comfortable experience. It is a stunning coastline of which we are very fond of even in the winter. We hope you will visit again.

"We had a great holiday thank you."
Unfortunately, the lodge and the neighbours were a problem.
One of the bathrooms smelt very bad. All of the showers are dirty with mould. One of the bathroom sinks was loose. Many of the small floor tiles are loose (grandchildren hazard). Flooring has lifted by the fridge (trip hazard). Dish washer did not work (we left some plates in it) my wife cleaning out 3 handfuls of mould / food from the machine but still didn't work. Corner kitchen cupboard smelt of mould and actual mould on some pots. We had to clean the burnt frying pan and saucepan. A hoodie left in the cupboard. Socks found under a sofa. Ice cream left in the freezer (Nut allergy hazard).
We complained direct to Park life for the neighbours extreme loud shouting / parties until 2am ish in the morning for 3 nights running.
So, unbearably bad in all.

"Lovely spacious Lodge with everything that you need for your holiday."
Some areas ready for upgrade especially the bathrooms and windows but would still recommend as it was very clean and situated in a lovely area. The hot tub was great and cream scones on arrival a lovely touch.
Thank you for your feedback. The lodge is closing soon for works to be carried out for next year and we have noted and will address the comments. We are pleased you enjoyed the lodge, hot tub and surrounding area. Thank you for your comments on the cream teas too. It is a rugged and beautiful part of Devon and the site is very peaceful.

"The piles of dog poo in the garden was a huge disappointment."
We had four children aged 8, 6 & twins aged 2. One reason I booked 35 was because of the safe outdoor play space. Having been cooped up in the car the children were desperate to play outside BUT they couldn’t because of the dog poo.
The information gave Tel 1 and Tel 2 as contact BOTH were the same number. When I phoned the woman said she was in Portugal. How much did that cost me??
Fortunately the problem was dealt with the next day. But the children really missed out.
There were several loose tiles on the kitchen floor.
No instructions for the dishwasher.
The bolt on the door of the lower bedroom was unusable as it was not aligned.
These things could easily be rectified.
The Lodge itself was lovely, well equipped and ideally situated for Watermouth Castle.
As I paid in excess of £800 for 3 nights, I think it is pricey.
Am I eligible for compensation?
Alison.
Thank you for your feedback, and we're truly sorry that your experience didn’t meet expectations in some areas. We take these concerns seriously. Regarding the 2 pieces of dog poo, we responded within 24 hours after receiving your call and photo evidence. Unfortunately, this was missed initially, and we sincerely apologise for that oversight. Moving forward, we will ensure even more thorough checks of the outdoor space.
As for contacting us, the property manager’s number is in both the welcome book and on the hello sign as soon as you enter the Lodge.
We appreciate you bringing the loose floor tiles and bolt issue to our attention—our housekeeper will inspect and address these matters promptly. We’ll also make sure to improve the clarity of the appliance instructions, including the dishwasher. (Instructions manuals above cooker)
We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the Lodge itself.

"Beautiful location and lovely lodge, should mention the steep steps on entry as 2 of our party had recent back and hip operations but we managed."
The two showers could do with a deep clean. On the whole we found everything we needed, the scones on arrival were very welcomed and the hot tub was truly amazing! We had a lovely time very quiet and relaxing holiday and would recommend
Thank you so much the showers are due to be upgraded in the winter and we will ensure they are clean - we are extremely pleased you loved the lodge. It’s a great location very private the steps have been addressed on the website
