  • "Quaint cottage, comfy beds, fab shower, however the faux leather sofa and ONE chair were cold and uncomfortable."

We should point out that there was no freezer. Visitors should be made aware that parking and access was very awkward and the exit from the driveway is directly on to A39 with restricted visibility.

Thank you for taking the time to review Spaniel Cottage. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness and quaintness so it’s great to hear you enjoyed that along with the comfortable beds and power shower. We opted for the faux leather sofa and chairs to ensure guests receive a clean and sanitised seating area. We appreciate that the feel is not to everyone’s taste and so we provide throws for those who aren’t keen on the feel of the faux leather. The cottage size doors mean we aren’t able to get a bigger suite in. The comfort element is difficult to cater for everyone’s preferences in terms of softer or harder seating. We’re sorry it wasn’t to your preference. We take your comments on board and will continue to monitor reviews and the guest book. There is a freezer at the property. We’re sorry you weren’t able to locate it. Our manager is always at the ready to help with any issues. We haven’t been made aware that our parking area or getting out onto the main coastal road isn’t to guests liking and so we’re really sorry you didn’t enjoy that part of the cottage experience. We are set back off the coastal road which adds to the quietness and ambience of our little hidden gem. However, that does mean guests have to go back out onto the coastal road rather than being on it already. We had hoped it was a positive to have parking and peace but with quick access back to the coastal road leading to all the villages, beaches, walks and other amenities. We're sorry you didn't find that to be the case. Thank you again. Your feedback is valuable to us to ensure we can continually improve our guests experience where possible. Property Owner

About the location

CARHAMPTON

Dunster 1.6 miles; Minehead 4 miles.

Carhampton is an attractive village close to the Exmoor National Park, with a church, pub, village store, community orchard and Post Office. There are lovely walks from the village, over the deer park to Dunster, and through farmland to the beach. The village is less than 4 miles from the popular seaside resort of Minehead, which occupies a wonderful sheltered spot beneath the dramatic North Hill, on the lovely West Somerset coast. This welcoming town boasts a mile-long esplanade, providing a wonderful backdrop to the golden beach, whilst the pretty harbour, visited in the summer by the famous paddle steamer Waverley, offers excellent fishing opportunities. Enjoy a nostalgic steam train journey from the seafront on the West Somerset Railway, or visit Blenheim Gardens, winner of many awards for its beautiful floral displays. Renowned for the largest herd of red deer in England, Exmoor National Park with its wooded valleys, pretty bridle paths and heather-clad moors, is well worth a visit, whilst the magnificent Norman Castle at nearby Dunster is a must.
