"Absolutely fabulous property that is wonderful for both children and dogs!"
! The garden is secure for the dogs and children as well and the village is just beautiful with walks down to the estuary that are breathtaking... Quite literally.
Our only feedback was that quite a lot of the electronics had flat or leaked batteries in. The only reason we are flagging this is that if we didn't say anything then it's the kind of thing that might go unnoticed. It honestly didn't make a difference to our stay though and we will definitely be booking again (if there's availability!)

"One step through the door and WOW !"
Hugh vaulted ceiling very large kitchen diner and lounge with wood burning stove. also it had been decorated for Christmas with tasteful tree and other decorations, just lovely !!.However I have down graded to a four star because we all felt the en-suite is in need of a refurb as opposed to the other bathroom which was immaculate , also we had no heating on the lower bedroom floor but we did find a couple of electric heater which helped, but as soon as the owner was aware of this he was on the case! All in all a lovely Christmas break and would definitely recommend Cowslip Barn, lovely dog walks and great pubs with excellent food. Very clean and really well equipped with everything you could possibly need. welcome pack a lovely touch and much appreciated by all of us.

"Great communication with Jackie before our stay."
Had a great stay, very clean, beds very comfortable, great log burner and plenty of comfortable seating. All amenities catered for. Nice quiet location with some great walks with the dog just opposite the barn down to bows creek. Locals very friendly and a great local pub. I’m sure we’ll be back in the future. PS garden is fully secured for dogs.

"Gorgeous property."
Spacious, clean, well equipped kitchen, comfortable beds in sizeable bedrooms.
We enjoyed the welcome scones and wine. Thank you.
Our dog enjoyed the garden and the local walks on the doorstep to the property.
Friendly local pub which serves excellent food just a 5 minute walk away.
Quite a rural setting, so no local shops to walk to. Comfortable navigating single lane country roads is a must.

"We were entirely satisfied with Cowslip barn and would not hesitate to highly recommend the property."
It is highly likely that we will make another reservation in the future.

Observation, NOT a criticism and NOT for publication:
The lighting in both bathrooms would benefit from improvement. Shaving and the application of makeup, etc, is made less effective due to the lack of bright lighting

"The cottage was great and in a superb location in Cornworthy."
Loads of walking right from the doorstep and a great village pub close by.
The property itself was an ideal space for couples and families with an upside down layout. Maintenance wise, a number of cupboard handles were loose and this should be attended to. Also, the storage areas were virtually all full with various items so there was limited space to store food.
There was no recycling facilities provided at the property which was very disappointing. The information provided said to either put in the general waste bin or take to a recycling facility in the area. The village had recycling collection as we saw the lorry collecting it on the day we left. We ended up bringing all our recycling back home as we aim to do our bit for the environment and found it disappointing that we are being told to place such items in the general waste.
Many thanks for your feedback and I’m glad you enjoyed your stay. I would like to address the issues you raised. Regarding the cupboard handles, thank you for raising this issue. If guests do not report these things then we are unaware. So these will be fixed properly. Regarding the lack of space in the cupboards, our cupboards are extremely well stocked with everything you should need whilst using the kitchen as we believe every kitchen should be well equipped. We have never had any complaints in the last 9 years of there being not enough room for food, however we will try and consolidate our equipment to free up another cupboard. Finally, regarding the refuse collection, because we are a business we do not have access to domestic refuse collections (which includes recycling) so we have had to use a private company to collect our waste. This private company disposes of all waste in an environmentally responsible manner. This is an expensive option for us however it gives us peace of mind that our guests’ waste is being handled in an environmentally sensitive way. We have however added details of a recycling point in Totnes to our welcome folder should our guests choose to do their own recycling. Thanks again for your feedback and I hope you will be visiting Cornworthy again soon.

"The property was spacious and very well equipped."
We had a lovely time. Only downside was the fridge didn’t appear to be cold so we had to use the freezer turned right down. Message sent to contact but no reply.
That still doesn’t detract from the lovely time we had and a glorious place
Hi Helen thanks so much for your review and I’m so pleased you had a lovely time and had everything you needed during your stay. Apologies about the fridge, I can confirm this has now been replaced . Kind regards. Jackie

"What an absolutely stunning cottage settled in such a beautiful location."
This is the epitome of Devonshire living and everything that I imagined it would be. There are so many lovely walks on the doorstep and locally, which our dogs enjoyed immensely. The towns and coast are not too far away either. My son joined us later in the week and the train connection from London Paddington to Totnes was just perfect for bringing our family together. I would highly recommend Cowslip Barn.

"The property was clean and was very well presented with ample space."
Lots of games and dvd’s to keep you entertained. There are just a couple of things that are not great and that is the roads are quite difficult in and out of the village, we would not have attempted these roads at night!! Also, I have raised issues with the oven which is not working properly. This caused an issue with cooking meals during the stay.
Thank you so much for taking the time to leave a review and I am delighted you found the barn well presented and clean and that you enjoyed the games and many dvds. Regarding the location of our property, despite being only 6 miles from both Totnes and Dartmouth we are in the Devon countryside in a rural village and unfortunately the lanes are narrow which is all part of the charm of the South Hams. I’m sorry you found this challenging and generally after the first day, you do get used to them. I hope you still managed to get out and about to enjoy the area. Regarding the oven, thank you for highlighting this, we will get an engineer out to take a look. Again thank you for your review. Jackie

"The property was spacious and very clean."
The weather was good and we spent a lot of time out. It was a pity that the grass was not cut and the bin emptied until the last day but we really enjoyed our stay.
Thank you so much for taking the time to review your stay at Cowslip Barn and I’m delighted you enjoyed your stay. Regarding your points raised, I can confirm that we had an issue with the bin being collected as it was scheduled to be emptied the day before you arrived and for some unknown reason it wasn’t. The grass is cut regularly however the next cut due was not until the last day of your holiday. I’m glad though that these two issues didn’t impact your stay. Jackie

"Amazing spot in a lovely quiet and tranquil village of Cornworthy."
We got hit by the storms so managed to purchase some firewood in Totnes which is about 20 minutes drive away. The local pub is just a few minutes walk, doesnt have an expansive menu but worth popping in for a pint. We had a family lunch at the Watermans Arms which I highly recommend and is a short drive.
If you have dogs, opposite the house is an incredible selection of walks with views to match, and the locals you bump into are very friendly.
I highly recommend booking this property through Sykes and the house is very well maintained by the proactive owners. 10/10 :-)
