  • "We loved Hobbs cottage from the minute we stepped through the door."

    The welcome pack was amazing,cakes,cream tea,bread and fizz. The dogs loved the walks on the moors and the local pubs and shop are a real bonus within walking distance. Would love to come back and stay ere again. Thank you

  • "I absolutely love Hobbs Cottage."

    Eva and Silvia have thought of everything. The cottage is so incredibly dog friendly and welcoming. It is spotless and warm and comfortable. The location is perfect. I have stayed in more than 50 cottages throughout the UK and I can say with confidence that Eva and Silvia could write a an owner's manual on how to properly run a holiday cottage. From the moment I walked in the cottage smelled lovely and was warm. Not all holiday cottages have that feeling of relaxation and warmth. Hobbs Cottage makes me want to sit down and let my stress melt away. Absolutely great sleeps, excellent kitchen set up with everything to make you feel at home. Ten stars ladies! Thank you so much for the personal touch and for checking in when the power went out. Wonderful!

  • "Hobbs Cottage is a lovely place."

    It’s very clean and comfortable, and had everything we needed for our stay. Thank you for the very generous welcome pack and for laying on the village carnival during my stay! Dogs are very welcome, and direct access to the rear courtyard with dog wash was very helpful after a long muddy walk. There are good walks from the door, and the whole of Dartmoor and South Devon to explore.

  • "Absolutely loved our holiday at Hobbs Cottage."

    Comfortable, warm and cosy. The welcome pack was extremely well-thought and the scones will live on long in our memories, so scrumptious. Lovely village location with very friendly locals and good walks for our dogs. Can't fault it. Thank you.

  • "We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hobbes Cottage, the instructions were nice and clear and the cottage was immaculately clean when we arrived."

    The information in the property was very good and well laid out. The welcome pack was very good and enjoyed, especially the home made scones. We had a minor plumbing issue which the owner responded to very quickly. The owner also offered to set up the other bedroom as there were overnight road closure of the A30 meaning traffic through the village, again very thoughtful. look forward to revisiting.

    Pleasant , friendly village with shop ,cafe and pub . Well equipped, comfortable and immaculately clean . Everything thought of for the dogs too . We couldn’t fault it in any way , certainly will aim to return .

  • "What a beautiful cottage, absolutely spotlessly clean, beds were so comfy, it was lovely having breakfast in the little courtyard which was a sun trap."

    We had a fab holiday, it helped having mainly good weather so we were able to enjoy the many lovely walks from the door with our dog. Lovely village with two lovely pubs and a well stocked shop. A big thank you to Eva for the welcome pack for us and Laila our dog. Would definitely recommend.

Hobbs Cottage is nestled in a row of 19th century workers' cottages in the friendly village of Sticklepath, near South Zeal and Okehampton.

Located at the bottom of wooded Skaigh Valley in Dartmoor National Park, this period property is ideally located for adventure.

With its untamed beauty, Dartmoor is one of England's most rugged national parks where you can discover ancient stone circles, granite tors, wild moorland and encounter herds of wild ponies.

This very pet-friendly property is the perfect place for a family or a group of friends with two well-behaved dogs to explore the splendour of Dartmoor and its stunning surroundings; within walking distance of two pubs, a village shop and multitude of beautiful walking paths.

Enter through the front door to find a welcoming living room to your right complete with woodburning stove and Smart TV, ideal for relaxing after a fun filled day.

Continue through to the bright, traditional style kitchen equipped with everything you need to cook up your favourite dish and then serve to your guests at the dining table that seats four people.

If you don't want to cook there are several recommended options for dining-out within walking distance.

The cottage is equipped with a barbecue and outdoor dining set for those long, warm summer evenings.

Mucky pups can be comfortably cleaned up in the outdoor dog bath with hot and cold running water.

For cyclists, secure and spacious bicycle storage is available, accessed from your courtyard at the rear of the property.

When bedtime beckons, head upstairs where you’ll find two well-presented double bedrooms and a beautiful tiled bathroom in which you can refresh after the day’s activities.

If you can tear yourself away from relaxing at Hobbs Cottage, you can explore right from the doorstep, including the spectacular and wild moors and many National Trust locations.

Stop off after a long walk at one of the pubs or the tearoom and you’ll also find a well stocked village shop offering all the essentials.

Nearby attractions are Finch Foundry, Castle Drogo and Rosemoor RHS Gardens, and to really appreciate the spectacular beauty of nature, visit Cosdon Hill, Belstone Tor, go horse riding at Mary Tavy or cycle to Lydford Gorge.

Cyclists will find the Granite way and the Wray Valley cycle paths gentle and pleasing and there are plenty of more challenging routes out across the moors.

Sticklepath is home to two pubs and a village shop, offering all the essentials for a self-catered stay. Nearby attractions include the National Trust's Castle Drogo, Okehampton Castle and Widemouth Bay are a car journey away if you want a change of scenery.
