  • "We had a fantastic time at 2 The Old School House, Dartmouth and would highly recommend it to young families."

There are a lot of steps (similar to most old properties near the harbour), but the house is well laid out and in a great area. The rooms are spacious and comfy and the kitchen is well provisioned with lots of applicances, so cooking is easy. Parking nearby could be tricky in the Summer months (1st May - 30th Sept), but between October to April you can park on South Embankment or Newcomen Road for as long as you want.

We are so pleased that you enjoyed our family home ! Thank you for your lovely review … please come again ! Property Owner

  • "No.2, The Old School House, is fine property."

The inverted nature, with the kitchen on the top floor, a climb of about 28 steps from the ground floor, is not for the infirm. Don’t forget the 30 irregular steps to get up to the property from the street below. The facilities are good. However, the heating was not working for the whole stay. The hot water stopped working on the last day. The Hive controller could not connect to something and demanded a call to an engineer. We could not find a manual for the unit and what we found online was complex and contradictory. Luckily the weather was good until the last day, a Sunday, when it turned much colder and we had a cold night. The router mentioned in the handbook was not available on our WiFi devices. We could use the same password through an extender unit though. When there was WiFi, it was painfully slow.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. We're glad to hear that you appreciated the character of the property and found the cleanliness and comfort up to standard. We sincerely apologise for the issues you experienced with the heating, hot water, and WiFi during your stay. These are not the standards we aim to uphold, and we understand how frustrating this must have been — particularly when the weather turned colder. We have reviewed the Hive heating system to ensure it is fully functional and more user-friendly for future guests. We’ll also be updating the property guide to include clearer instructions and contact details for prompt support. Regarding the WiFi, we have now sorted the issue and a more reliable solution to ensure a stronger and more consistent signal throughout the property is in place. We appreciate your honest feedback — it helps us to identify and fix areas that need improvement. We do hope you'll consider returning in the future, and we’d love the opportunity to provide a much more seamless experience. Property Owner

DARTMOUTH

Totnes 12 miles.

Dartmouth lies on the banks of the beautiful River Dart estuary in the popular and picturesque South Hams area of South Devon. Located within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and close to the coast, Dartmouth is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Devon. It offers a stunning waterfront, ancient narrow streets lined with boutique shops, restaurants and art galleries plus many local events such as the annual Dart Music Festival and the Port of Dartmouth Royal Regatta, along with the Dartmouth Food Festival held every October. There are many interesting cycling and walking routes around Dartmouth, including the South West Coast Path, the Dart Valley Trail and plenty of quiet country lanes. A trip on the Dartmouth Steam Railway through picturesque countryside to Paignton is a must, and so is a boat trip across to Kingswear and on to Brixham, a pretty little harbour town. For those seeking some beach activities, there is a wide choice in the South Hams area such as Blue Flag Award winner Blackpool Sands, and Slapton Sands, both extremely popular and just a stone's throw from Dartmouth. A relaxing location in South Devon.
