"The cottage is Ideally suited for all local facilities."
My son and nephew loved the steam railway so close.
The Kitchen has beautiful views and is equipt with everything needed, but ideally the windows and sill need a clean.
The kitchen chairs are uncomfortable and we used cushions to improve this.
Some of my party said the beds were to soft.
Great that a brochure was provided with all details in.
Fantastic that the ferry point is next to the cottage.
Views of the River are lovely and even watched the Navy training on this.
Ideally situated to reach all the close attractions.
We felt that a 10.00am checkout was quite early for us, as with the 4pm check in.

"We had a fantastic week at Britannia Cottage."
It was so comfortable and spotlessly clean. So exciting to be up close and watch the steam trains go by. So handy to have the ferry next door but not bothered by it being so close at all. The garden was absolutely beautiful and it was so lovely to eat outside and watch the world go by. The owner was so helpful, obtaining a cafetière for us, despite there being a pod coffee machine there and also advising on a local car boot sale during our stay. The welcome pack of scones, jam & cream, wine and milk, tea and coffee was the icing on the cake! Thank you for a truly wonderful stay!!
Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay. We hope to welcome you back soon!

"Cottage is lovely - garden is lovely - position is great
We were greeted with cream tea and a bottle of fizz- very nice touch - plenty of cups and plates cutlery etc!"
But a couple of small things - could do with blind at the kitchen window so that when it’s sunny you are able to obscure it
It needs a bath room bin in the hut and some hooks to hang clothes and a mirror near a plug socket for drying hair and not just in that room! A fan or air con in the hut would be fab as it was like a sauna when the sun was out we had to keep windows and doors and curtains closed during the day and open in the evening when it had cooled down!
A proper sized brolly is needed for the garden
Another saucepan for the kitchen
maybe antibacterial spray and cloths and a couple more tea towels!
There was a issue with the septic tank but this was sorted promptly and without too much fuss
All in all our weeks stay was pleasant and would recommend!
Thank you for your review and your suggestions…. We have already acted on some of them!

"We have stayed in several of Sykes properties but this is without question the most picturesque of all."
An idyllic location with a spectacular view - each rear window was just like a living oil painting and amazing to wake up to! The cottage itself is just like the photographs. It is clean, spacious and modern - with everything you need for your stay. The garden was perfect. Very private yet having a steam train
Thank you so much for your positive review. It is very much appreciated.

"We absolutely LOVED our stay in this cottage in an idyllic setting right by the river with the ferry to Dartmouth on our doorstep."
We enjoyed the panoramic views across the river Dart as well as watching the steam train trundle by. It was great to be able to walk from the cottage alongside the rail track into Kingswear and back through the Hoodown woods. The location was great for our visits to Torquay, Brixham and Agatha Christie's Greenway House. Despite being right next to the ferry boarding area, we were not really bothered by the queue of cars waiting to board. The kitchen was fairly well equipped. We would like to recommend that the owner provides cleaning products, though, such as antibacterial spray for the worktops and toilet cleaner for the bathrooms. Also, we noted that blinds had been fitted to the lounge, which was good. However, at certain times of the day, the sun coming through the kitchen was blinding and we had to improvise with a towel, so a blind in that room would be a good idea, too. We made use of the ability to open up the bi-fold door in the kitchen to enable us to 'bring the outside in' as well to eat on the patio table in the garden. A more beautiful setting for our evening meal would be hard to find. Thank you for the opportunity to holiday in such lovely accommodation in such a beautiful place.
Thank you for your lovely review. We will do what we can to act on your suggestions.

"This is a wonderful holiday home."
Comfortable and very well equipped cottage but the location really made our short break memorable. The house is private and looks out over the River Dart with all its comings and goings. Easy access to Dartmouth via the ferry and lovely walks from the front door. A perfect break!

"It is a lovely clean and freshly renovated cottage with stunning views and super easy ferry access to Dartmouth."
Great wifi throughout, modern furnishings including tv's in the bedrooms. We did a lovely walk along the riverside to a nice pub crossed on the lower ferry and returned via Dartmouth on the higher ferry. It's just a lovely cottage to enjoy a coffee/wine and while away the hours watching the boats go by on the Dart River. We definitely would love to stay here again.

"This beautiful cottage is a joy to stay in."
What could be more wonderful than waking up to the estuary, with its ever changing scenery and then the joy of the old steam train passing by each day (don’t worry it doesn’t start till 10) and is huge fun.
It is immaculate inside and very comfortable.
I would recommend getting a season ticket for the ferry crossing as it is expensive to pay for individual car journeys. If you plan to park up and walk then it’s £2 per person from the property across to town. www.dkfb.co.uk
There are so many beautiful places to visit close by. Blackpool sands and the coast past there towards Kingsbridge is breathtaking.
I see from past feedback a handrail is due to go
In at any time which is a must and I would urge the owners to put a blind at the top hall window for privacy from cars queuing.
A house instruction manual would have been very helpful for appliances and rubbish instructions.
Also could the water temperature be increased for a hot bath.
We look forward to staying again and thank you.

"Immaculate and well thought out house in a wonderful location."
The views from the house across to Dartmouth with the added benefit of being able to wave to the steam train made our stay memorable.
As seasoned self caterers, we would suggest the addition of a handrail up the stairs to protect the immaculate paintwork from the hands of those of us who need to steady ourselves.
We can't wait to stay at this gem of a house again
Thanks for your feedback, and glad to hear that we are not the only people who wave to the steam train as it goes past! We have taken on board your helpful comments and will hopefully have a handrail fitted later this month. Thanks again, and we look forward to welcoming you again soon.

"We really enjoyed our stay at Britannia Crossing Cottage."
It was well equipped, nicely decorated and very very clean.
I was a little bit hesitant about the placement of the cottage when I was looking at it online being so close to the steam trainline and the higher ferry crossing, but we decided to just go with it. I can honestly say that neither were a problem to us. The train doesn't start until after 10am and finishes soon after 5pm. When it passes it’s fine - when we were in the house we enjoyed watching it pass.
The higher ferry also wasn’t too much of a problem. We often went across to Dartmouth as a foot passenger and that was really handy. We didn’t have to queue for long in the car if we arrived back when there was a queue for the ferry - if we could see where the ferry was we often drove down the other side of the road.
I would suggest that anyone staying here should pop to one of the supermarkets before arrival (Aldi, Lidls, Sainsbury’s and Food Warehouse) to get some essentials such as milk, bread, tea and coffee etc. There are no shops particularly nearby. Whilst the little touch of a bottle of wine and longlife milk was thoughtful on arrival, we don’t drink and we couldn’t have shared this with our children. The owners might want to bear this in mind for future people staying in the accommodation.
You could see the cottage so well from the riverside at Dartmouth and it even gets a mention on the paddlesteamer cruise on the river when you pass by! The views from the cottage are also so beautiful. Sitting outside first thing in the morning or in the evening is just so peaceful. At times I couldn’t quite believe how lucky we were to be staying there. I would absolutely recommend this accommodation - this is by far one of the best we have stayed in. Thank you!
We really appreciate you staying at our cottage and your valuable feedback. Your 5 star review has brightened our day and motivates us to keep providing the best experience for our customers. Enjoy the rest of your Summer!

Britannia Cottage is the very best. Totally fantastic and perfect in every way. No criticism at all and that is a first for me. I think if I could buy any cottage in the Uk then this will be it. We wish we could have stayed forever.
