  • "Its a lovely setting and very nice accommodation but since our last vist in September it is beginning to look a little tired."

    I dont think the cleaners are doing you any favours (just look under the beds) and the use of a hover of some type would be a help while staying at the mooring. Finally I did ask about the gym but despite being told we could use it we were unable to unlock it. Please have these remedied so we can come again. We love the location and layout along with Appledore.

  • "Ile the property in general is very good there are issues that prevent a five star rating."

    With some maintenance the property would be very good but it seems that it is not being cared for. Would we come again no as we found having no handrail on the stairs to the first floor caused a problem for my partially sighted wife.

  • "Did not appreciate not being able to access the property on arrival as we had been sent the wrong code."

    We rang the contact number & a recorded message said that the office was closed. After waiting half an hour we were contacted & given the correct code for key safe. However the key fob for for the overly complicated entry system would not work so we were then told to use the manual key, which was fiddly to use. We were disappointed that the rear garden was unkempt & the grass clearly had not been cut for a while. We also had to empty & clean out the bbq, which was disgusting, before we could use it. We also had to strip & wash the bedding on one of the double beds as we found a pair of pyjamas under one of the pillows! However the property & location were great it is just a shame that the entry communication was poor & the cleaning & maintenance were not what we would have expected for such a lovely property.

  • "Areas of the property were not clean, toilet brushes were brown and the bathrooms had an unpleasant odour."

    There was no bbq however the adjacent property had two, there were also two very small oven trays totally inadequate for a party of 6. Cooking a meal for all was challenging! The garden was unkept, with borders full of weeds and the decking was tired. Location was amazing though and the beds were comfortable.

  • "Great accommodation, great location."

    We had some difficulty accessing the entrance door with the fob but called the number given and it was sorted. We loved the accommodation but feel it lacked some basic maintenance. There was no dustpan/brush, sweeping brush or hoover at the property so cleaning up after ourselves and two dogs was difficult. We contacted the owners and a dustpan and brush was supplied but still v difficult to keep all of the floors clean with this. The grass in the garden was very very long and this made it difficult to clean up after the dogs. Would not be good for young children to play either. There were some missing items in the kitchen - only 2 pasta bowls, 2 cereal bowls etc. Everything was comfortable and welcome pack was lovely - overall could be amazing with more attention to detail.

  • "Immaculate property - beds and showers great - kitchen and living room lovely - welcome pack milk scones cream and jam were delicious Single track definitely more than 0."

    3 to a shop thankfully was the last day when we met someone !! - lovely country side around and view to river from decking - electronic gates and door needing daughter to work out - help given for central heating - airer indoors would be useful outdoor rotary line but no pegs seen - a small saucepan would be useful - appledore and instow lovely and norham north burrows - clovelly not to be missed and gardens too lovely at Clovelley - Thanks for enjoyable stay shame about weather!! Dishwasher great and washing machine drier not used

  • "Great location, lovely views superb accommodation."

  • "The holiday property was as we wished a place to relax and chill out with our family , It was lovely to receive some lovely scones ,jam ,cream bread and milk which we enjoyed Thank you The communication re our stay and instructions to access the property were excellent and easy to follow ."

  • "We were very pleased with the location and views."

    The property was private, secure and to an excellent standard. As six friends sharing, we had a great holiday and would return. Just a couple of comments: access times were stated as 5.00 pm on some communications and 3.00 pm on others - this needs to be clarified. Similarly on leaving the departure time was 11.00 am on some and 10.00 am on others. The high tech door entry is unnecessarily complicated and could be made simpler. Also an additional key would have been appreciated. If the hedges could be cut back on the single track entrance road this would improve accessibility. However these comments are supplied for the owner’s information and should not detract from what is an exceptional holiday home.

  • "The property was absolutely perfect for us."

    We stayed here for a family holiday, my mum, my sister, my brother and his wife and 2 yr old son. We also bought our 2 dogs. Starting with the dogs, it was perfect for them. It was a secure garden and there was plenty of room for them to run around. On the doorstep for a perfect footpath which leads you through the woods along a coastal path or through the fields where there is plenty of room to explore off the lead. Also a private mini beach for the dogs to swim in when the tide is in. The accommodation was fabulous with 2 good size double bedrooms and 2 smaller single bedrooms. One point was that was not much space for wardrobes in the single bedrooms or drawers in one of the single rooms so when unpacking clothes there wasn’t much space for hanging clothes, this wasn’t really an issue for us though. Each bedroom has an en-suite although the single bedrooms shared a shower room but this was not an issue for us as there was another shower room upstairs. We had a slight issue with flooding in the shared bathroom but this was quickly resolved by the owners maintenance team. The upstairs area was bright and spacious with a quiet room and fabulous views. The kitchen was well equipped, although we could find any cereal bowls for breakfast (tbh this is just a personal preference for us) there were plenty of plates, mugs, glasses etc. the welcome pack of scones, jams, clotted cream, milk was perfect and enjoyed very much by my 82 year old mum. When we arrived we did have an issue with opening the main door to the property. We did find the doors complicated to unlock, we tried to follow the instructions but ended up calling the property owner who helped us get in. Because we sometimes went out at separate times we just kept the keys in the key safe so we could get back in. There is availability to charge an EV and found this very useful, this was unclear when we booked as it wasn’t advertised on the description of the property, but this was definitely a plus point for me as I didn’t have to search the local area to be able to charge my car. On the whole the property was perfect for us and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. If we get the opportunity again to be together as a family we will definitely re-book this as a base for us. The property is perfectly located for trips around North Devon, we particularly enjoyed visiting Westward Ho! Clovelly, Bideford and Instow. But we know the area well as our grandparents used to live in Bideford so was lovely to remember family holidays. The Tarka Trail on the opposite side of the river offers a perfect safe walk for families with plenty of safe bike riding and loads of parking at reasonable prices to leave your car behind. Massive thanks to the property owner for being prompt when we had to contact him. Was a pleasure to enjoy the property and surrounding area.

NORTHAM

Westward Ho! 1.3 miles; Bideford 2 miles; Barnstaple 11 miles.

Northam is a small village with a restaurant, pub, takeaway and small supermarket and lies on the hill above the lively village of Westward Ho! Westward Ho! has a two mile long glorious sandy beach, an excellent selection of cafes, bars and restaurants, a surf school and shops. The beach is popular for surfing and kite surfing, plus life guards are on duty during the summer season and there's a designated dog area. The Tarka Trail runs through Bideford and is especially popular with cyclists, with cycle hire, including child buggies and even dog buggies available here and at many places along the way. Northam Burrows is part of North Devon’s Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is enjoyed by walkers, and the Royal North Devon Golf Club is also here. For the more energetic the coastal path to Peppercombe and Clovelly offers stunning views along the coastline. From Bideford there are boat trips to Lundy Island, and nearby Appledore has fascinating narrow streets, interesting shops, fish and chips shops and a restaurant, as well as fishing trips. Family attractions nearby include the Big Sheep and Milky Way, as well as National Trust properties, Hartland Abbey, RHS Rosemoor and Dartington Glass. Also Clovelly is delightful with its quay, steep cobbled streets and donkeys and no cars are allowed down into the village. There's plenty to see and do from Northam.
