  • "Recent 4 night stay in the Calf Pen on this beautiful property in Colyton with our 2 dogs."

    Absolutely perfect from start to finish, John and Sarah are wonderful friendly hosts, the property itself was just perfect for us, all on one level, with everything you would need for a great stay. The cottage is as lovely as the photographs, really comfy beds, clean as a new pin, with some nice touches, a cream tea on arrival, milk in the fridge, basket of wood for the wood burner, a comprehensive guide to not only the property and grounds but places to go, things to do etc. in the surrounding areas. A basket of supplies for dogs was provided, toys, treats, food, leads etc,. The large field was a bonus for us, the glass house is beautiful and practical and there is a very pretty pond. Plenty of outdoor space with seating and tables dotted around. It didn’t feel like a holiday home to us, more like someone’s well loved and cared for home. We will return for another holiday, thank you Sarah and John.

  • "Lovely cottage,comfy beds and warm throughout Very homely even down to the paintings on the walls which were enjoyed Nice patio area to sit out in and for the dog to be safe The added bonus of the communal garden areas was fantastic, the bushes and plants were just coming through."

  • "A well equipped property in a convenient location for SE Devon and Dorset."

    Some lovely touches, such as the scones and cream on arrival and the wood burner with a supply of logs. The only (slight) downsides were the tired leather armchair and the unforgiving (and not particularly comfortable) double bed.

  • "A lovely holiday in a delightful setting."

    We were warmly welcomed by John and Carol and 'gifted' a cream tea which we greatly appreciated. The 'Calf Pen' was lovely, well equipped and just right for 'Bert and Milly' our two Welsh Terriers. Colyton, just a short distance away was lovely with great pubs, restaurants and cafes.

  • "The Calf Pen had everything we needed for our holiday stay."

    Arriving we found a cream tea waiting for us which was lovely. There was no downside to the holiday, only our English weather, which didn’t stop us from enjoying the holiday and the surroundings. We found John and Sarah to be very welcoming.

  • "We loved the calf pen & grounds!"

    The owner greeted us and gave us a quick tour which was a lovely start to our stay. It’s the perfect spot to relax, with the shared social spaces & field for the dogs was a bonus. A lot of thought had been put into little extra touches to welcome us, a delicious cream tea and a basket with treats & basic things for the dogs. We’d highly recommend the kingfisher pub, the bear bakery & local butcher. We can’t wait to return!

  • "The Calf Pen is a wonderful little home from home."

    I arrived fully equipped, but didn't need to use the things I brought because so much was provided. Clean and tidy. Very comfortable. Laid out very well. The surrounding environment with the small garden and use of the field was great for my little dogs. Lots to do in the area. Peaceful and quiet.

Situated in East Devon, Colyton is a small town with its roots dating back to 700AD. Situated three miles from Seaton and six miles from Axmouth, Colyton has many links to its past with numerous historical buildings, such as St Andrew’s Church, and its winding lanes with independent shops. Good food and a warm welcome are on offer at the many inns. Colyton's tram station will provide you with an enjoyable ride alongside the River Axe to Seaton. The picturesque villages of Colyford, Southleigh, Northleigh and Farway lie nestled in the heart of the Coly Valley and are always a good day out.
