  • "A really lovely place to stay!"

We were made very welcome on our arrival by our hosts, Rebecca and Marvin which makes all the difference after a long journey. The cottage excellent in every way, clean, well equipped, plenty of room so we didn't feel we were 'tripping over ourselves'. I enjoyed sitting out in the sun round the back after our long walks, and meeting Duncan the Shetland pony! I would certainly come again, highly recommended. Angela

  • "A comfortable and well-equipped cottage in an ideal location for exploring Exmoor."

A quiet location yet only 3/4 mile from the village. We could leave the car and walk to Dunkery Beacon and along the River Exe from the cottage. For walkers like us having a large "boot room" to hang wet clothes and leave boots to dry is a big plus. We liked the large kitchen/diner with an OS 1:25,000 map of Exmoor covering an entire wall. The owners were very helpful and friendly and provided an exceptional welcome pack of food and drink. Highly recommended.

  • "We will thoroughly recommend Hoglets."

Rebecca and Marvin are fantastic hosts and made our stay a marvellous week. The cottage is extremely comfortable with absolutely everything we needed, one of the best we have stayed in. The Welcome Pack, with so much, including homemade biscuits was a really generous addition. Exford is an excellent base for visiting the coast and moors. We do hope to return one day to see how 'Duncan', the miniature Shetland pony has settled in and if the menagerie has grown! Thank you both again.

Gorgeous cottage recently renovated to a very high standard. Very private and quiet location, with lovely outdoor area and a well stocked wood burner. Brilliantly located to visit the moor, lots of walks and the delightful Dunster.

  • "Rebecca and Marvin have provided a beautiful, tastefully furnished, delightful, comfortable cottage."

The “welcome pack” was beyond expectation, providing all we needed to start us off. Hoglets special homemade shortbread was delicious. The beds were super comfortable, and all the linen high quality. Rebecca and Marvin were perfect hosts, and on hand should any problems arise. Watch out for the hedgehogs before they hibernate.

  • "What a wonderful holiday."

Hoglets was a lovely place to stay with everything designed to make our visit as comfortable as possible. The house and its grounds offered a relaxing and at the same time stimulating access to the beautiful and picturesque Exmoor countryside, with its stunning daytime vistas and its extraordinary views of the star-filled night skies. A short drive and we were able to visit the coastal village of Lynmouth with its wooded cliffs and perfect harbour, or the Valley of the Rocks with its magnificent geology. The opposite direction led us to Dunster which with it’s architecture and castle far exceeded our expectations. Exploring done, we always looked forward to returning back to Hoglets. Thank you so much for making this holiday a precious memory.

  • "The owners of the property were lovely and really helpful."

The cottage had been beautifully renovated and decorated by the owners. Although the weather was wet on a couple of days we spent time in front of the log fire. The village was not too far away with a shop and pub which served food. A really good location for trips out to Exmoor.

  • "We couldn't have asked for more."

The property was simply but stylishly decorated and spotlessly clean. Rebecca and Martin were very welcoming and on hand to provide anything we needed... which wasn't much. The kitchen was well stocked with all items purchased for the property in sufficient numbers for us to load up the dishwasher. The hamper of essentials was beyond what we were expecting including delicious homemade biscuits and local preserves. It was a bonus to have a separate shower room and bathroom...both luxurious. The beds were extremely comfortable and being located in a Dark Skies Park we all slept soundly. The loudest sounds were from the owls hooting at night and housemartins just outside the bedroom window chattering during the day. The property is outside Exford but an easy walk to/from the village, even at night. The food at the Crown Hotel was especially good. We would love to stay again when the opportunity arises.

  • "This is the best holiday cottage my husband and I have stayed at, beautiful cottage very tastefully decorated and furnished."

Very clean and comfortable. Whilst the cottage is listed as a suitable for a family it is perfect for a couple or even 2 couples. The hosts are wonderful and very helpful, the welcome hamper was fab, I refused to share the homemade cookies with my husband as they were so yummy. It was great going into the adjacent meadow at night to lay on a blanket and stargaze this was an added bonus. There are great walks in Exford and I would recommend a visit to Porlock and Watersmeet. All in all a great holiday made by special by the hosts and their wonderful holiday home.

  • "Hoglets is a beautiful and unique cottage which we found to be ideally situated to explore the stunning landscape of Exmoor as well as the dramatic coastline of Somerset and North Devon."

We enjoyed sea kayaking in Combe Martin (the fish and chip shop is worth a visit too!) and Stand Up Paddleboarding at Wimbleball Lake. Coastal excursions included a day in Lynton and Lynmouth with a walk along the dramatic Valley of the Rocks – keep an eye out for the feral goats! We were spoilt for choice with local walks but can recommend Tarr Steps as well as Dunkery Beacon where we were rewarded with views across to South Wales. We’d recommend the tea room in Withypool for a delicious cream tea. It was only a short walk into Exford for a drink on the terrace next to the river at The White Horse pub or to pick up some supplies at the well-stocked village store. Rebecca and Marvin have created a luxurious haven in a peaceful location which is a delight to return to after a day spent exploring the local area – especially when relaxing with a cup of Exmoor tea and a shortbread biscuit from the welcome hamper. We were lucky enough to use the telescope in the paddock one evening and our children were thrilled to be able to see the surface of the moon. Thank you for an amazing holiday.
