  • "I think that the cottage itself is lovely but access to it for loading and unloading really should be highlighted as it is quite demanding even for me who i class as relatively fit."

Unfortunately with the sea wall being under complete reconstruction this means that there is no easy way to get into Dawlish other than using the steep steps and slope back onto the main road that you have to use to load / unload your stuff. Also with no parking you have to then park on the pavement blocking pedestrians to do this or you have to try and park opposite up the hill which makes it even more awkward.

Thank your review. We would like to make clear that the sea wall works are now complete and the description mentions the parking is roadside, but this does not denote a personal space outside the property. Property Owner

  • "Cottage was exactly what were expecting, with lovely see views."

The only negative was the builders on the construction on the sea front started work at 5.30am in the morning and didn't finish till 1am the next morning. With the weather so warm the windows were open so not very good nights sleep. This wouldn't of been a problem if they started at 7am and finished no later than 11pm. Other than this issue cottage was lovely and the view was fantastic.

  • "Coastguard Cottage is beautifully situated overlooking the trainline at Dawlish with the sea immediately beyond that."

The property had all we needed and was very clean and tidy. During our stay we had one unforeseen situation which the owner, together with the cleaner, immediately resolved. We couldn't fault the property or the exemplary service we received. We had an absolutely wonderful holiday and would definitely go again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend the property to others.

  • "The only real problem was where we had to park and transport our suitcases from, I understand that we where informed about the steps but adding the distance to get to the cottage was very tiring."

But to end on a good note the effort was well worth it absolutely fantastic place.

  • "What a fantastic week, helped by the weather of course, but the location of the cottage is amazing."

As outlined in the description it's quite a hike to the front door but once we were there wow, what a view. Thanks

To sit there, in the comfort of your own bed and watch the sea outside the widow is breathtaking. Absolutely food for the soul.

  • "Only one t towel then noticed some on bottom of wardrobe on our last day, didn’t know."

Also no salt & pepper or oil/foil/ketchup and cloths (basics) . Maybe because of COVID though. Overall the cottage gives you fantastic views. We would stay again

  • "We stayed here for a week with 4 other families members."

All adults. Downstairs was big enough , The lounge was very comfy. The dining room was a little tight for 6 but still very good and we used it for eating and playing cards. The bedrooms are small but we knew this and it didn’t cause any problems the beds are very comfy. The 2 showers were good and very handy to have the downstairs one after a swim. The views are amazing and could not be beaten anywhere . The sea is 2 mins away perfect for a swim. The trains never kept us awake even with windows open. We got parked a 5 min walk away , and yes there are some steps and a bit of a hill to get to the cottage but it is worth it . We would stay again .

  • "Beautifully positioned cottage overlooking the sea."

We had a slight problem with the boiler which was dealt with efficiently and quickly by the owners. One minor criticism is the information provided regarding parking and access. Parking can be difficult on the road and anyone with mobility issues would struggle. This did not detract from a wonderful week in Dawlish

  • "The view is spectacular, the position excellent as long as all guests have good mobility."

The bedrooms are small and the bathroom is a little tired.

  • "The location and the view were absolutely fabulous; we could not have asked for anything more beautiful!"

The cottage was pristine and the decor extremely tasteful and appropriate for the setting. We would not have to think twice about staying again when visiting the coast of Devon. Thank you so much. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

  • "Wonderful cottage with the most amazing views."

It is in a secluded location but with easy access to the town centre and coastal path. Helpful, responsive owners.

  • "Breathtaking views from the outdoor terrace."

Well located with an easy walk or drive to lots of great beaches. 10 minute walk into Dawlish via railway bridge with steep steps. But be aware that the property is not suitable if you have mobility issues of any kind. There's a considerable distance from the closest parking to the property which involves a long walk including a steep slope as well as the 40 steps mentioned. Worth it though if you can manage!
