The property

Newlands is a delightful, holiday home situated in the heart of Yelverton, Devon. A large well appointed 5 bedroom modern family home located in the moorland village of Yelverton, enjoying spectacular views towards the village of Meavy, set within Dartmoor National Park, this is a bright spacious contemporary family home offering the perfect idyllic stay with private driveway parking for five cars and a pet-friendly policy, this charming abode is perfect for families or groups of friends seeking a relaxing retreat in the picturesque Devon countryside. A level entrance to the property allows for easy access.

On the ground floor you will enter through a large hallway with a cloakroom/walk in shower.

An ample utility room with additional fridge freezer, washing machine plus tumble dryer and cleaning/ironing facilities. The cinema room provides a great space for the kids to play and enjoy a 75” smart TV, alternatively a quiet space to retreat.

There is also a double sofa bed, which allows ground floor access for those unable to use the stairs and provides flexible sleeping options. You then enter the extensive open plan kitchen/dining room and lounge area, there is a large Italian walnut table and 10 chairs for family dining.

A well equipped kitchen with Neff double oven/induction hob/microwave/fridge freezer/wine cooler and dishwasher, the island enjoys amazing views over the valley, a perfect place for a workstation or casual dining.

The main lounge provides a comfortable and relaxing area to watch your favourite channels on the OLED smart TV above the modern fireplace. The upstairs space provides four bedrooms, the king size main bedroom welcomes you with beautiful views over Dartmoor, as does the main bathroom, enjoy the vista whilst you take your shower.

There are two further well finished double bedrooms and an additional bedroom with bunk beds.

The additional bathroom includes a relaxing spa bath and shower.

All three main bedrooms are equipped with smart TV's for your enjoyment. Outside the property there is a south facing rear garden, which features a hot tub/bbq and generous outdoor area for alfresco dining or your morning coffee.

Absorb the rich history of the area with a visit to the National Trust's Buckland Abbey, where 700 years of history are brought to life, or uncover the fascinating past at Dartmoor Prison Museum, a revealing insight into prison life. The market town of Tavistock is just 15 minutes away boasting many independent shops and eateries.

The Ocean City of Plymouth only a 30 minute car ride away, with it’s historic Barbican and vibrant waterfront area known for its rich maritime history, narrow cobbled streets, and many independent shops, art galleries, cafes, and restaurants.

Mayflower Steps Memorial is an iconic landmark where the Pilgrim Fathers are believed to have departed England aboard the Mayflower in 1620 on their voyage to the New World.

Stroll up onto Plymouth Hoe, a public space on the waterfront, famous for its views across Plymouth Sound and landmarks like Smeaton's Tower.

The pretty village of Yelverton makes a perfect base for exploring Dartmoor with excellent walking and cycling routes in the area. The 21 mile-long cycling and walking route Drakes trail, runs through the village and links nearby Tavistock and Plymouth passing through wooded valleys and open moorland. It is also possible to hire bikes in the village. There are several eating places around Yelverton including The Drake Manor Inn and The Royal Oak which provide a warm welcome and superb locally sourced food. Nearby attractions include Buckland Abbey, The Garden House and Burrator Reservoir. The South Devon coast is within easy reach for day trips to Salcombe and the pretty riverside village of Newton Ferrers. The Naval port of Plymouth can also be easily reached, famous for its maritime heritage and the historic Barbican district its narrow, cobbled streets lined with a fine selection of restaurants and bars.
