    “We had a lovely time.”

The cottage was perfect for us and the owner was very friendly. It was very pet-friendly and perfectly situated right on Exmoor giving us a remote and beautiful location. The cottage had all the facilities we needed in addition to being close to nearby river and lake which the kids loved.

The village of Withypool has a remote, upland character and is surrounded by open moorland. Most of the village lies on the north side of the river and follows the narrow roads along the valley contours. The traditional buildings are wrapped in lime washed rendered stonewalls with slate roofs, adding to the sense of character. Within Withypool, there are the local general stores/Post Office, and tearooms. The nearest pub is The Sportsman approximately 3 miles away. There are excellent short and long walks in and around this destination, including the Two Moors Way that passes through the village. One of the most popular walks is a four mile riverside stroll to Tarr Steps, with wonderful scenery. Close by, the picturesque village of Exford is situated in the heart of the Exmoor National Park. In a charming setting by the River Exe, Exford boasts a village green, tea rooms, a shop, Post Office and two traditional inns serving excellent food and drinks.
