I booked Great Bradley Cottage for a last minute getaway wanting peace and quiet, lovely walks, a cozy homely place to stay and a pool we could have to ourselves. This place provided every one of these things and more. We felt very welcome from the offset with a stairgate and highchair provided before we arrived, use of the pool was easy, all the expected ammenities were provided and little extras such as shortbread biscuits and fresh milk were a welcome touch. Was so nice being able to have a holiday that catered for my whole family and we came home feeling refreshed so thank you.

We all love animals and they were everywhere. We often saw horses and cows wandering down the road. My children found this hilarious as we don’t see that at home. The cottage was clean and cosy and when we arrived, there was milk in the fridge, a bottle of wine and a delicious banana loaf waiting for us. The beds were incredibly comfortable and we all slept very well. My son loves to look at stars and I’ve never seen so many as we saw here! It was amazing. We got to meet the racehorses, lots of dogs, we swam in the pool and we enjoyed many pub meals. The Royal Oak in Withypool were great and every meal we had was delicious. Everyone we met was friendly and we had a very relaxing stay. None of us wanted to leave. This is a really lovely place to stay. Thank you for having us.

The swimming pool is a fabulous bonus, especially if the weather is 'iffy'. We loved our stay so much, Nicky is super friendly, as is everyone else we met there. Thank you so much for a fabulous holiday. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Great Bradley Cottage to anyone and everyone. See you again soon!

The cottage itself is very well equipped, especially the Rayburn stove we wanted for nothing. To have the use of a garden was lovely for us and our 3 dogs. To be able to walk out of the door and literally be on a bridle path that led down to the most beautiful River Bartle was perfect. The local pubs served good food. The walks on exmoor and on the coastal paths were wonderful, Dulverton is a lovely little town with everything we needed. Thankyou to Nicky and all her staff for making us so welcome, we will definitely be going back.

Yes it is in a remote place but that is its selling point. Our host Nicky could not have done more to make our stay as good as it was. Indeed we agreed it surpassed our expectations. The cottage was very comfortable and stayed that way despite the very changeable weather on the moors at that time of year. You could stay local all week and enjoy the rural life or its a good central point to go all directions in Somerset and Devon. We are already looking at a return visit.

Lots and lots of thoughtful touches left for arrival and a warm welcome from the owner. Great walks from the door, extremely dog friendly. Excellent pub nearby, the Royal Oak in Withypool. Food good (Sunday lunch in particular). The cottage is well equipped and comfortable in the main. Personally, we'd prefer more modern mattresses - they were a bit soft for our taste, but that's just us.. The TV is tiny; smaller than the one shown in advertising. Needs updating with a smart TV that could then receive Netflix, Prime etc. But these are small points. It's a gem of a place overall, with a glorious open fire and a lovely very relaxing vibe.

The cottage is in a great location for exploring Exmoor. There are wonderful walks from the cottage both down to the river Barle and up to the moor. The coast and many interesting villages and towns don't take long to reach by car. There is loads of wildlife to see, red and roe deer, hares, foxes and many kinds of birds. There are great places to eat and drink close by. The cottage itself is cosy and although the garden isn't enclosed the dogs could safely explore with us keeping an eye on them. An added bonus was use of the large heated indoor swimming pool. After a day out exploring it was great to have a relaxing swim whilst looking out over the valley to the moors on the hills. We are looking forward to coming back in the future.

It’s cosy but it had everything we needed for our stay. The indoor pool was fantastic and we were able to have a swim every day. There’s great walking direct from the door, either on to Exmoor or down to the river, onto the path to Withypool (shop, pub) or Tarr Steps (pub). We brought our dogs and it was great for them, (but note that the garden for the cottage isn’t enclosed, so anyone with dogs who run off will need to keep an eye on them in the garden). All in all, a lovely stay and a great cottage to relax in and explore from.

The cottage was so warm and cosy thanks to a beautiful Aga in the kitchen and a stunning open fire in the lounge. Delicious welcoming cake on arrival and the Owner was very helpful with local information or extra logs we needed. This is a walking paradise. You can walk for miles from here to various pubs, great for a halfway stop on a loop through valleys of woods with the river flowing gently along. This location if you have well behaved dogs is amazing for allowing them off the leads for most the day. Highly recommend a visit here, great location for exploring Exmoor and the surrounding areas or even if you just want a break away from the rat race to recharge.

It’s ideal if you want to get away from it all and are looking for lots of peach and quiet. Nicky the hosts was very friendly and welcoming and left us fresh farm shop milk, cakes, wine and treats and a ball for our dog. The Cottage was very comfortable and the use of the swimming pool was an added bonus. The only negative thing about the property, that did really did let it down is that it really could do with a good clean. I spent the first day cleaning the kitchen microwave, oven, fridge, sink and basin. I wiped down the sofas, the mat hadn’t been hovered and where dirty. I also had to clean the bathroom as underside of the toilet seat was stained yellow and the shower cubicle had not been cleaned. This is something you shouldn’t have to do when you arrive on holiday.

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are sorry to hear this, had you made us aware of these issues at the time we would have rectified them immediately. The owner was very hospitable and friendly. The place could do with a good clean though (superficially fine but hair in corners of bathroom and I had to clean the fridge before putting food in it). We had issues with wireless (not surprising given the lovely rural location) which would have been fine if we were just on holiday but I had to work and couldn’t so we went home early. Dogs barking from 6 am and did just walk into the cottage uninvited. We like dogs so not an issue for us but just a warning for others.

Just one correction needed to the key collection email sent prior to ones arrival. This might seem a minor issue but, with the cottage being so wonderfully rural, many people will be quite out of their comfort zone when arriving. The final instructions talk about passing a white farm house on the right. It's not. It's on the left. Fabulous miriad walks and the use of the swimming pool is a bonus. All in all, very good value - maybe could charge more.

  • "The cottage is located in a very nice and quiet farm."

It has a nice path walking down to the river and to some beautiful views. The private indoor swimming pool is a big plus point. The owners were kind enough to let us use it whenever we needed as we only stayed for 2 days. The pool is very secluded facing the owners private garden but as no one was out and about it meant full privacy for me and my partner. We also walked in to some lovely fresh farm milk waiting in the fridge. Keep in mind this is a self-cattering cottage which means you need to bring everything yourself. Basics such as towels & a roll of toilet paper are provided, but any extra's, oil or other food products need to be brought by yourself (it does state this in the advert). Also keep in mind, as this is a farm there are several dogs there which are free to roam. They are very friendly and curious but be aware to expect them to walk in if you leave the door open lol! We had a lovely time there and will definitely be coming back. Only down side we had was that the shower drain was slightly clogged which meant the water wasn't draining as well and filling up so we had to quickly wash and leave before it overflew.

Thank you for your lovely comments. We are glad that you had an enjoyable stay and were able to enjoy the beautiful surrounding countryside. We have spoken with the owner regarding the issue with the clogged shower drain, who has confirmed that this has been dealt with and the water is draining as it should be. We look forward to welcoming you back to Somerset, hopefully in the not-too-distant future. Property Owner

We enjoyed the indoor swimming pool it was so nice having a swim without anyone else the whole pool to ourselves brilliant. The cottage was lovely the open fire keeps you nice and toasty on those dark chilly evening’s. There are a couple of negative points one being the garden it says it’s enclosed but it is not so if you have a furry friend that likes to wonder of then you’ll have to watch them, the other thing that let it down was the mattress’s they were not comfy I ended up with a spring in my hip, had to lie in a dip before getting comfortable. It could of been cleaner especially with the corona virus outbreak. Shower, Radiators, handles, but apart from that a wonderful place to stay the peace and quiet and beautiful landscape.

The pool was lovely, warm and private and very welcome, I overcame my fear of water here got a bit of confidence and will now be able to have swimming lessons. There are some beautiful horses nearby, two lovely new ones had just arrived named Hamish and Bertie and it was lovely to see them when we went out daily, as well as some lovely friendly dogs which never disturbed us at all. There is no noise surprisingly when the estate trains many lovely horses and unless you saw them pass you would never know they were there. This cottage has been fantastic, private , quiet, peaceful and just what is needed to get away from the noisy towns elsewhere. The owner and staff were so kind and helpful and the owner was available whenever needed, which was not often as the holiday was perfect. I would go back again when I am able to, maybe next year. The cottage is warm and cosy with tasteful decor and country touches that made us feel right at home. I was a little bit apprehensive about cooking with the Rayburn but it was very easy to use and produced delicious meals! We had two dogs who had free range to wander the garden and grounds. The cottage has been decorated beautifully with some lovely details, fresh flowers, starter tea, coffee, milk, sugar, dog treats, everything you could possible need in the bathroom (including rain forest shower) towels etc. The 2 bedrooms were a lovely size with beautiful views & huge double beds (New mattresses too). The garden is also lovely place to relax with the sun on it all day. Everything you could possible need is provided from Barbeque (already just to light up) beautiful log fire (with plenty of logs) large fridge freezer, washing machine (and washing line & pegs), dishwasher (including tabs), cooker (even picnic hamper) toaster, coffee pot, large bottled water (as local water is high in copper content) however bottled water is provided free of charge and on arrival a lovely bottle of wine. Plenty of crockery, saucepans, pots, pans and containers even kitchen roll, clingfilm, kitchen roll, mop & bucket, hoover etc etc ...the list goes on. (Also plenty of parking directly outside cottage. There is also Kennels available should you wish to go out for the day without your dogs. I can't recommend this cottage enough, everything you could possible need is there, we were the first to stay in the cottage as its just been refurbished, I have stayed in many cottages across the UK over the past years and this without a doubt is the best one I've stayed in, perfect location and wonderfully warm and welcoming hosts.
