The rustic kitchen is well equipped for all your culinary needs, while the dining table seats two comfortably, perfect for intimate suppers or planning tomorrow’s adventures.

Outside, the enclosed courtyard is a rare gem in such a central location, offering a tranquil spot to enjoy your morning coffee or wind down with a drink as the sun sets.

Upstairs, via a staircase that’s narrow in parts and therefore not suitable for guests with limited mobility, you’ll find a charming reading nook with a fold-down desk, ideal for writing or working while travelling.

There’s also a shower room and a beamed double bedroom with original floorboards, adding to the cottage’s unique character.

Each November, the village hosts Hatherleigh Festival which combines a celebration of music, crafts and arts, there is something for everyone with venues hosting live music and the streets boast an array of stalls selling fresh produce.

The nearby town of Okehampton offers a range of shops, pubs, and restaurants, and lies within easy reach of the cottage.

Dartmoor National Park is yours to explore, renowned for its rugged beauty, peaceful villages, and abundant wildlife.

Discover the historic Okehampton Castle, one of the oldest stone castles in England, and the fascinating Castle Drogo – the last stately home built in Britain – perched over a stunning river valley.

A little further afield, the cathedral city of Exeter is well worth a visit – why not park and ride at the newly reopened Okehampton station and let the popular Dartmoor line take the strain.

Hatherleigh is an ancient market town consisting of cob and thatch cottages situated in the heart of rural Devon. Hatherleigh lies in the Torridge Valley just seven miles from the edge of the Dartmoor National Park, and is a wonderful central location for the coast to coast long distance trail, which includes the popular Tarka Trail. The town itself offers a varied selection of interesting craft shops, country inns and cafes. Within driving distance are Okehampton Castle, the beautiful RHS Rosemoor Gardens at Torrington, and even to the dramatic surfing beaches around Bude. Hatherleigh’s central position makes it an ideal location from which to explore this area of Devon.
