  • "A lovely cosy cottage in a great locality with parking."

A very comfortable stay and would definitely rebook.

  • "1. Please move the ceiling light in Bed 2 to over the bed."

I had my head on it numerous times. 2. Provide some coathangers designed to hold trousers - they have a rough trip of material along them. 3. The label your dustbin bin with the cottages name. 4. Please provide a laminated notice to put inside your car windscreen to identify which cottage you are staying at. We were blocked in for a while, and had to knock on doors to find the culprit. 5. Please cross check your Instructions in the folder against the appliances actually there.

Thank you for choosing to stay at Cleve Cottage and the 5 star rating you have given. I hope this meant the issues raised didn’t impact on the enjoyment of your stay. Property Owner

  • "No problem finding the property with directions provided and access to the parking area was better than expected from previous reviews (we have a large 4x4 and found parking fine) however the cottage is really small especially the upstairs the photographer has done a really good job of making the property look bigger than it actually is."

Location was fab near to all restaurants and the beach there is a communal path through the garden but wasn't a problem for us was quite nice chatting to other guests staying nearby. The cottage was clean, quite and in good condition.

Thank you for your feedback and choosing to stay at Cleve cottage. We are glad to hear you enjoyed its fantastic central but quiet location with parking included which we hope you found good value and look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

  • "This is the second time we have stayed at cleve cottage."

The location is great and comes with parking which is unusual in Lyme. It has everything you need and more. Although it is located a stones throw from the bottom of the high street it is very quiet which I love. No doubt we will be returning.

Thank you for your kind feedback and choosing to stay at the cottage again. We are so glad you enjoyed your second stay and would love to welcome you back again. Property Owner

  • "Disappointed with our stay at Cleve Cottage."

We arrived at the cottage to find that it hadn’t been cleaned and the beds stripped. The dirty laundry and towels were left in the living room. As it was just on 4:00pm I called the office and was informed that someone would be at the property as soon as possible, but we’d have to be away from the property for the next 2hrs whilst it was cleaned. On returning just after 6:00pm the property had been cleaned, but it left us feeling disappointed that we’d paid a lot of money to find a poorly maintained property. As it was accepted that we shouldn’t have arrived to find the property in this condition they confirmed they would transfer £75 for the inconvenience. Over a week later and nothing. Called the office again and was told it was with their finance department but they would call me back. No call from them. With Bank transfers being instant and even Bacs payments being made in 3 days, I find their customer service severely lacking.

We are very sorry that on this occasion we let you down with our service. We have taken on board your comments and will speak to our finance team to try to seek a better solution. We do hope that the rest of your holiday was enjoyable. The Lyme Bay Team Property Owner

  • "We are a family of 4 (2 kids, age 8 and 5) and this was a perfect little cottage for a 3 night stay."

Small but very sweet. Quiet and peaceful. Great location - especially when you discover the sneaky path to the main road! Very clean and kitchen well stocked. We loved the welcome pack and the 2 Easter eggs left for the kids were a lovely surprise! If we were to return to Lyme Regis, we would stay here again. Very much recommend!

  • "This is our third stay at Cleve Cottage and it’s ideal for our requirements."

However, please remember that although it’s described as cosy, it is in fact, extremely small. The main bedroom just accommodates a small double bed, a single wardrobe and a tiny set of drawers. As there’s only two of us we use the other bedroom for our clothes, either laid out on the bed or using the small rail under the cabin bed. Others have mentioned the small shower and that’s my only issue with this otherwise delightful cottage as it really is a tight squeeze. The cottage is very well kitted out, especially the kitchen, which was great as we were there for Christmas this year. It was lovely to be greeted with a lovely Christmas tree and decorative lights in the living room. We have a big estate car and the entrance between two Cottages is tight, but manageable. The parking space is more than adequate for our large car. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning as the price hike now it’s owned by Sykes is astronomical. The same dates for December 2023 have been increased by a staggering £324!

  • "A very pleasant short stay in an attractive small cottage, with immediate access to the centre of Lyme Regis."

The availability of free parking is an advantage: parking in the town is very limited. Although the cottage is so convenient it is in fact very quiet. The cottage was clean and tidy and very well equipped with everything needed. I would recommend this cottage for a short stay for two people.

  • "The cottage was substantially better than we expected."

Underfloor heating was great. The level of finish and equipment was amazing. Location perfect, we could walk everywhere. Left car in designated parking bay behind cottage. We will book again.

  • "The cottage was very difficult to find, we only found it by chance."

Even though we phoned the help number, the guy on the phone did his best but he was in Chester. It would have helped to have someone on site, or to have a more detailed map or something. The cottage itself was quite nice but everything was a bit tatty, so the blind fell off the window in the living room as soon as I touched it. There was no dishwasher even though it was advertised when we booked the cottage. Also the doorknob on the main bedroom door was missing so it was really difficult to open it again when I accidentally shut it. There were other broken things as well. Anyway, the Welcome pack was a nice touch but we didn't know what to do with the 2 ten pound notes in one of the drawers, so we left them there.

  • "My concerns about the narrow access to parking proved groundless, had no problem accessing."

The property (Cleeve Cottage) was tiny but beautiful, and right in the centre.

  • "We loved lots about the property - the furniture and decor of the house was lovely, Alexa and the multiple charging points, the location was perfect and whilst it is small, it provided everything we needed, including cling film, foil, washing up liquid etc."

However we feel the marketing of the property has let it down. Many of your other properties state if the parking space is small or the access is narrow and I discounted a jibe of properties because the parking was not adequate for our car. Whilst the actual car parking area was ample for a large car the access to the parking area was very small and difficult to negotiate with a large family car. We enjoyed having some outdoor space. However, we were disappointed to discover that not only was the space very overlooked by the Cleve House outdoor space but also the garden area was a walkway for other properties. With two young children we would rather have been forewarned of this as it would have affected our decision to stay there. Also the table provided is broken and has a nasty split in the wood which resulted in a cut to my hand when I inadvertently brushed my hand across the surface without realising the damage beforehand. The bathroom, whilst beautifully decorated, was totally inappropriate for a family with young children. My children are 4 and 6 and unable to wash their hair themselves and because there is a request that you keep the shower door completely closed to avoid leaks downstairs I had to squeeze into the tiny shower in order to wash my children. I have no problem standing in a shower to wash my own children (and I fully expected to do this) however I would have liked to be been forewarned about the small nature of the shower as it made shower times very challenging. The toilet also needs looking at as it is not securely fixed. There was also very limited storage in the bedrooms. The drawer units provided were so small they were pointless. I appreciate space is limited but maybe there is a better option??? Having stayed in a number of different Lyme Bay Cottages over the last few years we felt the cleanliness was not up to your usual standard. There was rubbish under the stool in the bedroom and also under the bed, the shower screen wasn’t clean and there was some food on the kitchen floor, to name a few issues. I am not generally one to complain but I feel quite strongly that if these points aren’t raised and addressed then other families may be disappointed with their stay in Cleve Cottage. I await your response.

Everything you need is provided. We really enjoyed our stay. Sunny garden - garden furniture much appreciated. Very compact shower for a larger person, however a beautiful bathroom. Private adjacent parking is the cherry on the cake - would definitely come back and recommend!

  • "Lovely cottage perfect location , literally a stones throw from the seafront."

appreciated the fact that hand wash, toilet rolls etc all provided. Garden area was lovely although overlooked by neighbours decking. Literally just needed to turn up and have fun! However house smelt damp which was worse after rain probably due to age of property. Did report this and never had feedback so assume normal but did spoil the stay a bit. Parking was great given location but beware big you have a big car as access is very narrow.
