  • "We had an enjoyable stay at this very well appointed cottage, there didn't seem to be anything that the owners hadn't thought of and they had left a small welcome pack which was very well received."

The local pub, The Kestor Inn serves excellent food and we did several local walks from the cottage.

It was well equipped and arrangements had been made to make the cottage child friendly by very helpful and thoughtful caretaker. Nice to have a welcome pack of goodies to get us settled in. Great stay

Really well equipped, it had everything you could need/want. Tonia was very welcoming and had left us a little welcome pack of bread, tea, milk and chocolates. The cottage itself was lovely. The beds were extremely comfortable. It was definitely a home from home. It is very rural and peaceful, the views are stunning. We would 100% stay here again

  • "We spent a week in this cottage in April 2021 and it was a fabulous place to stay."

It is maintained and kitted out to a high standard, and was exceptionally comfortable. Our host was very friendly, and attentive. There was a welcome pack on our arrival with fresh bread, milk, tea, coffee, and biscuits waiting for us, which was greatly appreciated. The rooms were immaculate, and the beds very comfortable. There was plenty of towels and bedding provided and the kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need. The location of this cottage on the farm was serene; it was in the middle of the countryside, with a wealth of wildlife around, just what you need for a perfect escape. Sunny morning breakfasts outside were very relaxing. I cannot recommend this cottage highly enough, and would be very keen to stay here again in the future!

  • "Cottage was immaculate, spotlessly clean, beautifully furnished, comfortable and had all the facilities advertised."

Location is excellent: my friends and I were able to do walks straight from the cottage. Village pub only a short walk from the cottage. An excellent base to explore from and a wonderful base to enjoy staying in when we felt like it. My friends and I would like to return again if the opportunity presents itself.

  • "A little more remote than expected but it did not affect our stay."

WiFi was hit and miss, believe this was more to do with the location as mobile phone signal was not very good either. Cottage facilities were excellent - home from home. Lots to do and see without having to travel too far.

  • "Super clean when we arrived."

Whilst the fridge provided was small, the owner had taken on board previous feedback and was very apologetic They had ordered a new one which arrived during our stay. The barbecue was great and looked new or otherwise was very clean with a nice secluded outdoor space to use. The owners were very nice and accommodating allowing us to walk our dog in an adjacent field they own. The was a new toilet upstairs which was handy. We can suggest putting a small lock on the door as an improvement.. The kitchen was upstairs and quite well equipped with things you would expect. A mixing bowl would be a helpful addition. It was really good to have a welcome pack including milk as there are no shops nearby The lounge was comfortable and well laid out. Due to COVID restrictions we were told there were no dvds or games so we brought our own. There was a great little rechargeable fan which we made use of in the hot weather. Towels and bedding were provided and there was a clothing rack beneath the stairs and pegs in the kitchen to use.

  • "The overall holiday was excellent."

The only small criticism is that the fridge space is limited and we had some difficulty keeping cool enough food and dairy products for 6 people in a location that is some distance from the nearest shops.

  • "The cottage was lovely."

It had everything we needed and was furnished to a really high standard. I spoke to the owner before we arrived as the self-catering industry had only just reopened after the lockdown and we were all a bit nervous. When we arrived the cottage was absolutely spotless and had obviously been thoroughly cleaned so we felt perfectly safe. We never met the owners in person but they did drop off a local map and some walks which were really helpful. It was so lovely to get away to wide open spaces after being cooped up for months and the moors were beautiful. Wish we could have stayed longer as a week wasn't enough.

About the location

BOVEY TRACEY

Newton Abbott 6.5 miles; Teigmouth 10 miles; Exeter 15 miles

Nestled in the valley of the River Bovey is this stunning little town known as "The Gateway to the Moor". Bovey Tracey got its name from the meandering river that flows through it, with 'Tracey' representing the family that were the lords of the manor after the Norman Conquest. It has a great history with heavy involvement in the English Civil War which resulted in the name of the town's pub "The Cromwell Arms" which serves real ale and good food. The history of the town can be discovered in the Heritage Centre, with the Dartmoor National Park Authority also nearby. Bovey Tracey offers a selection of shops and cafés along with the stunning Mill Marsh Park and the Dartmoor Whisky Distillery which offers guided tours. The town comes just outside of the Dartmoor National Park which provides seemingly endless walking and cycling paths along with incredible scenery. The market town of Newton Abbot sits nearby, offering a fantastic day out with charming buildings and a good range of amenities. The beautiful city of Exeter is also within driving distance, and if a day at the seaside is what you're after then take a trip to Teignmouth.
