"Lovely cottage with all the amenities."
Pretty garden to be able to sit in and take the sun. Situated centrally in a village which is ideal if your less mobile. Only criticism would be the sofas in the lounge are very low, if you are elderly difficult to get out of.

"A beautiful house with everything you could need."
Comfortable beds, really nice furnishings, lovely large kitchen diner, views of the sea from all 3 bedrooms and a stunning large patio which has about 50 different pots filled with beautiful plants, flowers and shrubs. This outdoor area also has an undercover area with table and chairs along with a bbq for outside eating / socialising. Absolutely love this property and have already booked to come back in October.

"A lovely warm and welcoming place to stay the village is great."
A lot of through traffic and as you are sandwiched between two through road could be noise at times. Didn’t really bother us two much though our dog found it a little tricky at times and it made him a little noisy. Got a little Barky at times. I hope we didn’t disturb the neighbours too much. Night times it was very quiet and not to much noise from the pub behind. The Ship was a really pleasant place with a gorgeous sun terrace. Very welcoming with the dog. We had some great meals and a lovely breakfast. The library cafe and The castle pub were also very nice. The Wier is a fantastic place to visit and we had some great walks. A bit more information on the parking and were it is would be welcome before you got in the property. Though the visitors centre were very helpful. They were happy to park in their carpark opposite when unloading the car, when we arrived and when we check out yesterday morning. Otherwise it might have been a little awkward. However once in The Pound everything was explained well and very straightforward. The house has some gorgeous features and the courtyard outside is wonderful. Thank you for a really pleasant stay! The house really had everything you needed. Thought having no wardrobes might be a problem, some people may think so. However, we found enough hanging places and draws to put things.

"A lovely, charming, cottage in a fantastic location."
Positives:
Spotlessly clean
Beautiful antique style furniture
Wonderful garden area
Fantastic location
Things that could be improved:
The mattress and pillows very uncomfortable. The mattress made my back so sore that I couldn't roll over in bed because it hurt to move so much.
The beds and sofas are so low that elderly family members couldn't get on and off them without help.
There is no mirror in the bathroom.
Wardrobes would be nice.
Somewhere to sit and do your hair and makeup, like a dressing table with a mirror would be helpful.

"A lovely house, comfy beds , great showers could be one of the best but for a few easily remedied details that are not checked."
Internet is poor to non existent , two of the frying pans do not work on the induction and the one that does has lost its non stick (very annoying for a visitor experience). There is clearly no checklist for the cleaner to ensure basic items are left. This time there was no j cloth for wiping surfaces, no bin bags for the bin, a microwave but no microwavable bowls making it a useless appliance, all easily fixable but really frustrating for the visitor.

"We had a great stay at Pound cottage."
It was in a fantastic location in the centre of Porlock. We did not have any issues with the parking. There were clear instructions in the cottage information folder. The kitchen dinner was very spacious but you would struggle to accommodate 6 adults in the lounge. We did find the sofas were very low which made us difficult to get up. There were 3 large bedrooms. The mattresses on the double bed could do with replacing as it was very soft and you could feel the springs.
We did have a number of power cuts during our stay and the emergency solar torch was flat. The local pubs were great and stayed open during the power cuts. We ate at the ship a couple of times and the food and service were both excellent.
The garden looked lovely and would love to return in the summer so we could enjoy it.

"Beautiful cottage, comfy and well looked after, great location, Ship Inn well worth a visit."
Only slight criticism was no mention of steps into garden, which was absolutely beautiful but steps were quite steep for elderly Labrador! Also would have liked a few drinking glasses that were less heavy, I had trouble lifting the small tumblers! Other than that a perfect holiday cottage, have booked to visit again

"Feel photos don’t do the property justice."
Lovely position and had everything we needed. Little personal touches to the decor etc. all lovely. We were hoping the robin would have hatched her chicks whilst we were there but it didn’t happen. Would thoroughly recommend this cottage to anyone. Porlock is a lovely place to stay in along with Pound cottage.

Great views of Porlock Bay from the rooms with a lovely area in the courtyard garden to relax. Close to all the amenities and even the parking is easily accessible albeit some distance from the property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

"I was upset and disappointed that the photos of bathroom were not accurate and the bath had been removed."
I booked specifically for a bath, due to physical/ mental health issues. We did not inform Sykes until we returned as the thought of a potential move , in the bad weather after unpacking, and car parking was not at the property , was just to much. Otherwise the cottage was lovely. Just so dissapointed in the reply from Sykes, £40 refund and saying that they could have found us a similar cottage in the same village with a bath that we could have moved to seemed a feeble and unbelievable
argument at the least. Just so dissapointed in them as a company.

The only observations we would make is that there were no little extras we we have come to expect."
Things like a bit of olive oil, salt, pepper etc. This is not a big issue but would be nice to have. Everything else was great in a
super location, fantastic views and a brilliant starting point for many walks. We will definitely be back!

"A lovely cottage in a excellent state of decor."
Fabulous shower, comfortable beds, good kitchen. We would stay again.
Our only gripes were , the advertised WiFi is misleading , there is no broadband at the property an internet access depended on the nearby visitors centre and was low strength, did not work throughout the property and dropped regularly. I ended up committing to an increase of £23/month for 18 months on my Vodafone account to provide stable internet as both my wife and I are IT professionals and regular internet users.
Also the directions do not mention that parking is not at the property and is down the hill behind the fire station. We spent quite some time on arrival driving around the property trying to work out where to park. In the end I asked at the visitors centre over the road fortunately they knew where the designated parking was and also said we could unload on their car park.
Whilst the parking did not spoil the stay at all, clear directions should be given as part of the directions. We would definitely recommend loading and unloading at the visitors centre.
Overall we had a lively time and enjoyed The Pound.

"We had a lovely time in a wonderful house and village."
It was really a home from home and was very well equipped.
The courtyard garden was magical and it was brilliant that it was possible to sit under cover (covered pergola) should it rain.
There were several lovely pubs and coffee shops in the village - even better they offered gluten free options!
We would love to go back sometime, which reflects how much we truly loved our stay.
