Parking beside this gorgeous six-hundred-year-old cottage, you climb the steps towards the unlocked gate and, as it swings open, a stunning view unfolds behind you with rolling countryside stretching out in soft layers.

The sense of stepping into a place with centuries of history settles around you as you approach the entrance, the cottage standing with quiet confidence in its rural setting.

Passing through the door, you enter the kitchen where the central island acts as a natural gathering point.

The warmth from the AGA blends with the gentle heat rising from the underfloor heating, creating an inviting space to lean, pause and settle into the rhythm of the house.

The induction hob and electric double oven stand ready for unhurried meals, while the microwave adds easy convenience.

Moving through to the utility, you find the washing machine and tumble dryer tucked neatly together, alongside the unexpected fun of a table tennis table.

A cloakroom with basin and WC leads from this room, and doors open out to a south-facing terrace where sunlight settles beautifully, with a footpath curving towards the rear of the property.

Turning back inside, you wander into the spacious living and dining room where a circular dining table sets the scene for lingering meals and relaxed conversation.

A large Smart TV sits opposite a generous corner sofa, perfect for unwinding after days discovering the countryside.

Doors lead out to the patio, allowing the fresh air to drift through on brighter days.

Climbing the stairs, you reach the second sitting room, an inviting retreat softened by natural light from a Velux window.

Here, the woodburning stove offers a warm glow in the evening and the combination of a corner sofa and an additional sofa creates space for everyone to unwind in comfort.

The first bedroom offers a super king-size zip-link bed within a generously sized room, complete with a Velux window that brings in soft morning light.

Its en suite features a freestanding bath that encourages slow, indulgent soaks and a walk-in shower that prepares you for days filled with exploration.

The second super-king-size bedroom is equally impressive, with a freestanding bath and handheld shower creating an atmosphere of easy luxury where you can ease into your morning or wind down at night.

At the rear of the cottage, the garden opens itself to you with a blend of patio and lawn that invites gentle wandering, quiet reading or evenings spent outdoors as the light softens over the fields.

It is here that you feel truly connected to the landscape, surrounded by nature and peaceful stillness.

When you venture further, Exmoor National Park lies comfortably within reach, offering wild expanses, sweeping moorland and a sense of openness that lifts the spirit.

Within an hour of the cottage, Dunster Castle promises a day steeped in history where grand interiors brim with period detail, terraced gardens descend towards a charming village and woodland paths invite you to explore hidden corners.

Travelling towards the coast, you may find yourself drawn to Lyme Regis where the curve of the harbour, the expansive shoreline rich with fossils and the maze of independent shops together create a lively and memorable seaside experience.

Tiverton offers a gentler pace with its historic canal where heritage boats glide quietly along the water, leafy paths follow the towpath and the castle’s ancient stonework tells stories of centuries gone by.

TIVERTON

Crediton 12 miles; Exeter 14 miles; Taunton 21 miles.

The largest town in Mid Devon, visit Tiverton for echoes of the past including a romantic castle, and horse-drawn barge trips on the idyllic Grand Western Canal. Occupying a strategic position on two rivers, the Exe and the Lowman, brought Tiverton wealth as a flourishing textile town, resulting in many fine buildings. These include the Jacobean Great House of St. George, three medieval almshouses, and the fantastic parish church of St. Peter with its remarkable frieze of merchant vessels with billowing sails. Another famous building is Old Blundells, immortalised by former pupil R.D. Blackmore in his classic Lorna Doone. However, the town's most famous building is beautiful Tiverton Castle, a royal fortress commissioned in 1106 by Henry I. Find out more about Tiverton's rich heritage at the award-winning Tiverton Museum of Mid Devon Life, with 14 galleries of exhibits including the Tivvy Bumper GWR locomotive.
