  • "Lovely property, really well equipped and handy to have 2 fridges for 2 families."

(Sorry, we broke 2 wine glasses, but did replace them) Everything was clean when we arrived and we had a great first impression, tho we had a little trouble locating the right cottage in the dark! Bedding and beds very comfortable. Showers worked fine and plenty of clean towels New TV perfect for cosy nights in. Local info guide was useful too, we found a great local pub through this for nights out Brilliant to have ample parking too

  • "Ground floor rooms (bedrooms) smelt a bit musty."

Overall the cottage was excellent, lovely furniture. Super clean and tidy, well equipped kitchen. Bedding /towels of hotel standard. Bathrooms fitted out to high standard. Amazing surroundings, garden areas well maintained. Has query over oven and Bespoke Devon sorted it within a few hours. Had direct contact with them prior to trip and a welcoming email from the owners. Good service.

  • "We loved the whole experience."

It was clean and comfortable. Parking was more than adequate and that's very important these days as there is nothing worse than coming back after a day out and wondering if you are going to be able to park. The kitchen was well fitted, beds comfortable and everything we could want was at hand. We would go again.

  • "We arrived at the property on Fri 9 October 2020 for a girls weekend and we were immediately impressed with not only our property but the surrounding areas!"

Very picturesque! The weather was amazing too and we could see for miles! We soon settled in for the night and made ourselves comfortable! Beds were really comfy and it was nice to have the kitchen/dining area on a different level. We went for a hike on the Sat to Stoke Beach, which was stunning as was the weather that day and we out for hours! Some of us also ventured to the beach next to it which looked like something out of the Mediterranean! Lots of photo opportunities too! We were booked in on the Sat evening for dinner at the Ship Inn, which did not disappoint! Both the food in the Restaurant and the surrounding area was stunning! I would definitely recommend this property and the Ship Inn is the place to go! The food and service were first class. All in all a fabulous stay. Only downside was the bottom oven wasn't working properly and we had to make do with the grill.

  • "Lovely cottage, clean and well equipped, and very comfortable."

    Mrs JonesSep 2020

  • "Cottage was wonderful could not fault it."

The area though was too remote. Not clearly explained that all roads were unlit and very narrow steep lanes maybe a great idea to advise people bring all groceries with them if staying in the winter as many areas were inacessable on foot due to weather and driving is a nightmare on those lanes.

  • "Lovely cottage with everything you could need, nice walks and beach close by and good pubs not to fare away."

    Mr GrangeAug 2019

  • "We enjoyed walking on the coastal path, eating at the Ship Inn, playing tennis and table tennis and visiting Bigbury-on-Sea."

The property

St Aubyn Cottage is one of a number of cottages at Rowden Court, a selected development converted from Grade II listed farm buildings near the coastal footpath and rugged cliff walks.

This comfortable 'upside down' cottage is arranged over three floors, sitting mid-row and looking over the shared inner courtyard.

Inside, the welcoming, cosy interior has been well-furnished with pretty fabrics, painted exposed beams and interesting local artwork.

Stepping into the property from the courtyard, you enter a hallway, where you can kick off your boots, and are greeted with three ground floor bedrooms: a double and two twin, with a family bathroom with shower over the bath.

Stairs lead up to the open-plan living room and dining area with seating for up to eight people.

Settle down on the comfy sofas and enjoy the benefits of the electric fireplace keeping you warm during those chilly evenings while you watch TV, play games or read a book from the bookshelf.

The kitchen has an impressive, well-equipped set of white fitted units and spacious wooden worktops, ideal for preparing a home cooked meal for the friends or family.

Further stairs lead up to the second floor and the enormous master bedroom with a king-size bed, TV/DVD player, with an en-suite bathroom, bath and separate shower, both with Velux windows, some sloping ceilings and exposed beams.

With a communal games room and laundry facilities, including table tennis, dart board, washing machines and tumble driers, there is nothing this property doesn't have to offer.

It shares a 1½ acre well-maintained garden to the south, a short distance from the cottage, where you can use the tennis court, barbecue and picnic tables, a lovely place to dine together in a natural setting.

The beautiful South West Coast Path is less than half a mile away, Dramatic Stoke Beach with its cliffs is just down the hill, and unspoilt Mothecombe Beach on the Erme estuary is 4 miles along the coast road with a large car park.

These beaches are paradise for your dog, where they can swim, run and play with other dogs without being on the lead.

Birdwatchers and people interested in wildlife will find plenty to interest them in the immediate vicinity, including cirl buntings, peregrine falcons and dolphins!

Newton Ferrers and Noss Mayo are adjoining small villages beside the River Yealm estuary, sheltered by oak-wooded hillsides, and are popular for sailing, walking or just sitting and soaking in the magnificent scenery.

The roads immediately around the villages are mostly country lanes, so sometimes narrow with passing places to allow two vehicles to pass.

You will find local shops and pubs with great food also nearby.

There is a low tide footpath across the creek and local tennis courts and riding stables.

A good quality, stylish and cosy cottage, well-suited for a group of friends or one or two families to share.
